wow.. very highly educated people who play... now when i started to play in a large group.. it was at Arkansas state university in Jonesboro Arkansas.. i gamed every tuesday and thursday like clockwork. D&D, Steve jacksons' bug hunters and other assorted games, shadowrun, White wolf larps and table top, west end Starwars among various others.. dont get me wrong though.. i never attended the college.. i just drove down to ASU to play with my friends to attended college. high school grad, and i took one painting class in Alabama after i moved from the most kick arse gaming group. and i of course never completed it. all and all i think ive hung out with people from.. 5 colleges in various states and have yet to dedicate myself to school.. maybe im waiting for the right moment.. or maybe im a slacker :D
around 10+ years ago or so when i started playing.. it was my friend as the dm and two of us... i think we both played henchmen type characters.. so starting out it was 3.. then two more people were added to add the group up to 5 including the DM.. then i moved to missouri.. i found a new group to play with and depending on which town we were in.. Kennett and Jonesboro
and now im florida.. and i have a small group that meets bi weekly which is a 5 man group (with DM) though i think the group some of the players are part of is larger.
-ken Things I would do: 1.) Edit image and add artist's name and website (if they have one), if it already doesn't have it.2.) Make a clear statement in your comments block where the stat block came from (converted or not), along with any artwork. That way, you (hopefully) don't step on any toes and you'll have some brownie points for (possibly) directing traffic to said artist. this is all 1993 cards.. and now that i pulled some out into the sunlight they were the old AD&D trading cards.. all TRS trademarked and it doesnt offer any thing about the artists.. thought i know one or two of them are Brom since i have some Dark-Sun cards but thanks for the info. and ill try to do some research on the idea about seeing who they had on the payroll for theses cards. so ill send start pumping out some non picture characters and maybe stick in the comments section about Actors who i thought would fit the bill as portraiting said character. -ken
Oh.. here is a question for you.. i have some old school D&D cards with 2nd Ed. stats and stuff.. i have picked out a few of them i liked and upgraded them to 3.5 do you think that using the image of the character on the car along with their new 3.5 upgrade is acceptable for posting? i have at least 50 character cards ive done this for. and well it already has an image of a character on it so the DM has something tangible to show the players... anyway.. the question is.. do you want me to post that picture along with the new stats i created for them? -ken
lilith.. great work.. i should be adding all of my Npc's to your website soon.. that way i dont have to carry around my several dozen folders with random NPC's intertwined between them. also.. what about the Leadership feat for villains? i have on 9 or so occasions given my NPC's that feat... do i just give them a rough outline of who they have as henchmen and followers? and what about their leadership number? anyway thanks for building the site look forward to seeing everyones brain-children. -ken
i read your list and i remembered some that i should have added in my current list. The Fun
The Odd
The Foreign
The Shooting
The Depressing
suicide kings, singles, enemy mine, playing god, albino alligator, apt pupil, the wind and the lion, the lion in winter, spaghetti westerns(with james van cleef, clint eastwood, or charlie bronson), 13th warrior, the barber, pulp fiction, american psycho,American beauty, roger doger, Empire of the sun, Shadow of a vampire, platoon, A.I., Soldier, Big (with tom hanks) Barbarians!, Cold run (i think thats the movie with poppy Z brite as the stow away) Little shop of Horrors, howard the Duck, karate kid,
george wow.. he has their histories and his family tree work on the Freys.. wow.. i was impressed. made me think more about putting a lot of effort into character histories.. all and all a good series of books.. and the Unsullied.. it made me look up their real world equals in the Ottoman turks.. i was impressed
i havent read any of the Drizzit series yet.. i feel like ive already seen the character before since a friend of mine would always play darkelf rangers.. really badly. i did like the clerical series he wrote.. i thought it should have stopped at 4 books though.. but the 5th wasnt a total waste of my time. the demon wars sagas.. first three were great, the next four.. that needed a little work.. except for the horse Ranger whose name escapes me and the workings of the High Yatol.. i was thinking that the wingless elves would have been villains but no.. they were missunderstood good guys.. riiight.. oh and the scenes with the dragon being taken down by siege weaponry.. i just couldnt picture it. and it was like some kinda old weenie dragon? i dont know.. hes far from my top author.. but hes a guy to go to for stories.. if a little overly dramatic. david gemmell is similiar to him with the fight scenes.. but 3 of his works are like a rough draft for the next one in line.. and that pissed me off.. still interesting characters. Eve forward.. shes awesome. i loved both of her book, Villains by necessity, and the Animist.. i repeat.. awesome. J.V jones.. the Book of Words trilogy.. also awesome stuff. joel rosenburg.. guardians of the flame.. excellent series. greg castikyan(sp?) cups and sorcery.. he only wrote 2 books.. but they are hilarious to me. the end
favorite villain.. hmm. mizzamir from Eve Forward's Novel Villains by necessity.. but he was the overly protective elven good guy and the villains, 7 of them i think were trying to restore balance to the world. Baralis from J.V. jones Book of Words series. as well as Tavalisk who was the player in the background that the characters never really met except for the little thief. worse villain? Aydrian Wyndon one of R.A. Salavatores villains.. immortalis and so on.. i couldnt get into him.
i dont think it would be illegal for us to post the laws up since they are for "personal use" but i would need an judge for that ruling. still isnt not like one is trying to make money off of it.. *shrugs* bribery, diplomacy, and maybe the willingness to be an outlaw might happen for your characters.. maybe a little help from one of the Uncorrupt sergeants giving them a little running time.. or time to sort out their problems before the sheriff hears.
if i got to be i wanted.. i would probably be a rogue for the skill points :D and be a wise man or a con man.. one of the two. but if its by what i am.. well i would probably be stuck with the NPC warrior class or barely a 1 lvl fighter with thrown hatchets and hammers and maybe a sledge hammer of manageble side and with a good intimidate score because im told im scary when angry. and the other two feats in toughness and toughness.. since i had a building fall on me in kindergarten and im still alive and walking. then lots of One point skills in this world info like grades 1-12 fire building, how to make gun powder, how not to get eaten by wild animals, religion, blue print reading, etc etc.. oh and a good bit in bluff. |
