Who is your favorite villian?

Books

There have been a lot of "great" villians. Who are your favorites?

Tempus from Thieves World was always an awesome villian.

Rogi and Halot from the new Thieves World series are pretty cool little creeps.

Raistlin. Never liked him, but always interesting.

Dalamar. Always interesting.

Artemis Entreri. Don't like him but always waiting to see him humbled. Was cool to see him reduced to 3rd string in the Underdark.

This is just off the top of my head. Any thoughts?

I would also have to add:

Lord Soth

Strahd Von Zorovich

favorite villain.. hmm. mizzamir from Eve Forward's Novel Villains by necessity.. but he was the overly protective elven good guy and the villains, 7 of them i think were trying to restore balance to the world.

Baralis from J.V. jones Book of Words series. as well as Tavalisk who was the player in the background that the characters never really met except for the little thief.

worse villain?

Aydrian Wyndon one of R.A. Salavatores villains.. immortalis and so on.. i couldnt get into him.

Any necromancer, really...

Liberty's Edge

Deslock from Yamato/ Star Blazers.

Mr. Mordan from Babylon 5.

Gustavo Fring from Breaking Bad. Better Call Saul.

Comic book Thanos. :p

Melizar, from Secret of the Sixth Magic by Lyndon Hardy, was cool in more ways than one. I mean that he was so "cool" that ice would form around his head!

Seriously, though, I can't think of any other villain in fiction with that kind of class and style.

Raistlin is a villain/hero of mine. I found his story of sacrificing his body for mental power to be very compelling.

Jamie Lannister. I admire is unapologetic devotion to swordmanship. The "dance" with a worthy foe provided the presence that extremes provoke. I like how he saved Renley's knight as recognition of a teammate. I like his duel with the ex-hand Stark. Pushing a kid off a balcony, incest, and being a Lannister make him a villain. Those actions and alliances are just to get by and Jamie's devotion is to combat.

*I haven't seen the last 2 seasons (or read the last 2 unpublished books) yet.

No matter how much literature I read. I still like Loki.
