Silver Crusade

So we were playing in a campaign and had reached the final boss, and my Gunslinger shot them with a Silencing Shot. We saw there was a DC for the shot, but... not what the DC was for; a Will save? Reflex save to avoid it? The Perception check to notice a lack of sound in the area? The spell, Silence, doesn't have a saving throw associated with it (because it can only be cast on a willing target, thus the bullet overrides that application).

I haven't seen any errata for it and I can't find that anyone else has had this issue with it. While it DOES seem ludicrous to allow the spell to just work on an enemy, the DC 25 is a touch low for a level 11 item. There's a lot of weirdness around this, but it IS nice to be able to attempt to silence an enemy - any ideas or weigh-ins on the DC and its intent for this one, folks of the forums?

Edit: For clarity, we did just rule it as a Will save at the time, and if the enemy failed it'd last for 1d8 rounds. This is just to bring other folks' attention to it and get clarity if anyone else has had to provide it.

Like it says on the tin, we're getting pretty close to the release of the Player and GM Core coming out, and subscribers tend to get theirs a little early so there's earlier charges, etc.

I know that in one of the streams it was mentioned that we'd hear more about how the payment issue for two books coming out in the core line at once would be handled, but has it been clarified somewhere and I can't find it? Or, if not, is there any way we might know when to check back about that sort of thing?

Any information is good, we're on a tight budget around Christmas time so every bit of advanced warning helps, and I'm sure I'm not the only one!

While still super excited to have the book in my hot little hands, it looks like there may have been a bookbinding or page sorting error with the book (alas!) Unfortunately it makes the Guns Archetype section nigh unreadable without backtracking or jumping forward.

Page 128 jumps straight to page 135, page 136 then goes to 133, 134 then goes to 131, 132 hops to 129, 130 goes to 143, 144 goes to 141, 142 goes to 139, 140 goes to 137, and 138 skips over to Guns Equipment.

I know it's not the best time in the world for shipping right now but would a replacement be possible? Thanks for everything you all do in advance!

Really excited about Investigator and seeing them in action, I'm actually building one right now for a one-shot we'll be running! Though, unless I'm missing something glaringly obvious I can't seem to find sword canes anywhere in PF2 thus far. I perused the AoN and core book, checked the Character guide... Did I fail my perception check or is this something that's to be added in the actual APG that snuck in with no reference?

Huzzah!

When reading an encounter in the book they're listed as, for an example, Moderate 1. What I was curious about was if that is intended to be a moderate encounter for a level 1 group, would a level 2 group then treat the same encounter as one level less severe in difficulty?

For context, my undersized party is moving around the Citadel in a rather odd way and they've hit level 2, but are about to encounter the bugbear, spider swarms, and Alak with the Imps.

So for the bugbear encounter - it's listed as Low 1, would I want to award xp as if it were Trivial instead of Low, since the party is level 2? Or should I adjust the encounter to make it Low difficulty for a level 2 party?

I haven't seen, and don't know that there WILL be, an FAQ for the weapon design system from the Weapon Master's Handbook, but I had some concerns and was wondering if maybe they're either unfounded or my math was wrong or what-have-you. Searching over the forums I haven't really seen anything brought up so... here we go!

I found, using the system, one can't build some of the weapons that already exist in game with the restrictions listed in the system. A rapier, in example, is WAY overpowered for the limitations of a 1-handed martial weapon, even purchasing additional design points the maximum (twice).

Rapier
Type: One-handed Melee
Proficiency: Martial
DMG (s): d4
DMG (m): d6
Weapon Group: light blades
Qualities: 9DP total (martial = 5, one-handed = 2, additional DP twice = 2)
additional design points (+2DP), finesse (-3DP), improved critical threat twice (-10DP), improved damage twice (-2DP)

So that's a total of 15 DP, double what is avaiable. Even if purchasing improved threat were 7 points instead of 3 then 7, the total DP cost is way above the limit of 9.

The Elven Curved Blade and the Estoc are also problematic/unable to be built via this system. There's no listed damage type for 2d4, for example, so scythes also don't quite work.

Am I missing something? Is the weapon design system purely to build an entirely new weapon, which may not be comparable to the older ones, or is it supposed to be the system used to design weapons, period?

I ran into this when trying to make an old favorite from 3.5, the Elven Thinblade (exotic, 1d8 slashing finesse weapon, one-handed.) One could argue it's just a small elven curved blade, but even so it is far above what should be able to be made.

Am I missing something, maybe? Apologies if this isn't the right thread, also, I wasn't sure whether to post here or in the product discussion page.
