As the cleric in question, I feel the need to come to the aid of my rookie DM. A few points of clarification I believe are in order.
I set myself on fire by diving onto a fire set in the square next to me, which was a fire set by oil and a crossbow loaded with a bolt that was flaming, when the swarm was eating me. They had been shying away from fire we had set earlier in the fight and it was my idea to try and get them caught. And while I did do a concentration check for the healing, we admittedly did not think of the will save. Altogether though it was hilarious at the time and loads of fun.
Also, another point of hilarity was that I did not light the oil by shooting the bolt at the at the square, but by passing through the square while nauseated and dropping the entire crossbow onto the square.
