The product looks good, but I am concerned it is a bit over priced. If I can share the $20/mo account with my group, as the gm, then it seems reasonable, but if not, it quickly become more expensive than herolab, which is itself far too expensive. Perhaps doing a one time flat fee per character would also work.

You *can* share it with your group! I should probably emphasize that a bit more on the pricing table, but the unlimited plan is designed for groups, not individuals. It's also heavily discounted if you pay annually, cutting the cost in half. If you have 5 players in addition to yourself, it's just $20/player/year.

Also, if you shoot me an email (jordan@herosheets.com) I'll send you a 15% coupon which can help you save even more!

I just created a video walkthrough of HeroSheets that should give you guys a good idea of what to expect with the app:

Is there an export / import feature so I can share characters with the GM? What formats are supported?

Great question! Currently, you can export your characters to JSON, to paper, and you can access them outside the application once you've shared them. I also plan on a "message board" text export, but haven't implemented that yet.

No import methods are currently supported. In fact, I'm not sure what I would support other than HeroLab, and I don't know enough about that format yet. Ideas wanted!

Can it (or will it be able to) handle gestalt characters?

It won't at launch, and we're going to add rules in the order they came out, and to my knowledge Gestalt character rules haven't been released in a book published by Paizo. However, that doesn't mean we won't add them, it just means it's near the bottom of a long queue of content.

I'm happy to introduce a new online PFRPG Character Creator, HeroSheets. The idea behind HeroSheets is to make the character creation & leveling up process EXTREMELY easy, so that players with very little experience don't make mistakes and experts can do it in seconds.

HeroSheets is currently in a limited early release program. However, we expect to launch fully around late October / early November, depending on the number of bugs our testers find :)

The initial release will support the following features:
- PFRPG Core Rulebook rules (OGL Content)
- PFRPG Organized Play special rules
- Mobile/Tablet/Print friendly character sheets
- Publicly sharable character sheets
- JSON character export for use in other applications

Since this is a hosted web application, we will charge a small monthly fee instead of a larger up-front fee. We'll be adding additional rules as fast as we can, but we wanted to launch initially with just support for the CRB because of the monumental amount of effort required to build the foundation for the site.

If this sounds like something you're interested in, sign up at the mailing list at HeroSheets.com and you'll get a hefty discount when we launch!

I'm happy to answer questions in this thread as well. Happy gaming!

At this risk of hijacking this thread* I thought it might be worth mentioning that I'm working on an extremely similar project that is nearing beta:

HeroSheets - PFRPG Character Sheets

If you sign up for the mailing list, you'll get notified when the free Early Access program is ready. We're rolling out slowly to interested players, starting on September 20. The first release supports OGL content from the Core Rulebook. We'll be adding more content over time, for free, based on customer feedback

*I'm hoping its OK since the Character Explorer creator has been unresponsive for the last seven months - if it's inappropriate I can move this to its own thread.
