Haldaval looks back at Harsk. "The sword or the rope, it matters not. This one seems devious enough to keep up talk distracting us from what we want to know. The other one already told us their number and location, we don't need him if he is going to waste our time with lies." He turns back to Tityanna. "If he has a wife and children matters not. More than likely, it's a lie to try and gain our sympathy. But even if it is true, the innocent are better off without this evil hearted man in their lives."

"You pretend some grievance with my attack on you? You dared to lay a hand on this woman, who has more honor and integrity in one finger than you could possibly manage in your entire life, and who furthermore is a companion of mine. No, your life was forfeit from that moment if not before, and your cowardice is laid bare by attempting to vilify the defense of my companions."

Haldaval bursts out laughing at the worthless bandit. "You seek to bait me, scum? You think, perhaps to incite me to kill you quickly, before you tell us what we want to know?" He chuckles once again. "We already decided to let you live long enough to talk, I will not betray that decision so easily."

He walks to Tityanna and speaks in a low voice, "You are too harsh with yourself, Tityanna. And you should care not one bit what this filth thinks of you. As for what the rest of us think, perhaps you are too quick to judge your friends as well."

Tavlor keeps a wary eye on the smoke rising from the building he had just vacated, but responds to Ulf with surprise, "You got eight? That is quite impressive. I'm afraid my magic is not quite refined or powerful enough to manage that level of destruction. I'm left with more destructive chaos apparently." He indicates the building with the smoke billowing out. "I'm afraid you'll only find two charred goblins if the fire dies out, but at least I am unhurt. You?"

Jynerva watches Cyn's tail twitching in the early morning light. They had just finished their morning communion. Cyn seems a bit bored today. It's a shame we didn't get anything done last night. The night had been worthless from the start. She had spent some time at one of her normal haunts after having a pleasant dinner, but there had been no evidence of any business. The entertainment had been rather dull.

Cyn had seemed restless at the time, and Jynerva now reflected on his mood. I suppose it's probably me that is restless. We do seem to keep hitting dead ends. They had scrapped business and set out to see if they could find any new leads. The only thing they learned was that some young nobles were coming into town, so perhaps she could get some new business soon.

Jynerva sighs, addressing Cyn, "You can be totally worthless sometimes." She smiles as his tail flicks lazily again. As she starts to contemplate what they might be able to accomplish today, there is a knock at the door.

She glances quickly at Cyn, but he had not even responded. That's unusual. I can't imagine who it would be at this hour. Certainly not a customer. She stands and crosses the small apartment to the door. She clears her mind and makes sure she's ready if there is any trouble. Cyn senses her mood and jumps up, alert, but he quickly feigns a nonchalant indifference. He trots over and hops up onto a small table, watching the door.

Jynerva stands at the closed door and calls out, "Who's there?"
