So, I am little bit of a newcomer to the whole buying of item cards. For a while I have had my own cards I would hand out and such. But, one of my players got me a git of these cards. I must say that I am sold lock, stock and two smoking barrels!! With that I figure that I will throw my two coppers into this thread as these cards are something I really want to see grow and flourish. Here are some more suggestions. Metal/bone skull with strange runes engraved (not sure if that one was mentioned previously)
I am sure there are more things that I haven't thought of....and that I am sure that I will need for my RPGs. Thanks for asking the input of those that use the product....you guys rock!!!
I think, after talking with some friends, that I am going to go with the Top loader card protectors and then affix some labels to the card sleeve. This appears to be the best win win situation. Since my handwriting is pretty bad and the cards will still be the works of art they are. I am so looking forward to getting to more of these!!!
One of my players got me a bunch of the GameMastery item cards. I saw that there is a spot on the back of the cards for notes and such. My question is; is there a "printable label" that will fit over the "notes" area? I would love to use a clear printable label to record the notes and still see the awesome note area and keep the overall aesthetic level the same. Thanks for all the great products!!

With any luck that will improve the situation, at least a little, but we won't know for sure until we try. All I have asked for is explanations. I got those, maybe not as concise as I would have liked. But hey we are dealing with the art of the post office and sending parcels. So I guess concise is a perception, I am kewl with that for the most part. Others and myself have asked for the problem to be addressed/fixed and you guys are working on the problem and looking into alternative measures and systems. So, I must say thank you and I will let you know that I will re-establish my status as a subscriber of your fine Dungeon Magazine. Thanks and just keep on working on the issues we subscribers have. I am sure that there are some out there that are less forgiving/understanding. I look at it that I might be gaining some karma points back. I know that I need all of those that I can get. ; > p Thanks, Jeremy
At least one thing is for sure. Wil's stuff is getting read by all of us...love or hate it. I still like it as for the art, it fits with the whols Paizio style IMHO. But hey I never took art and even if I had I still don't think it could be explained...art that is ...keep up the work you guys are doing....
Jermey, et al., sorry if I seemed a little preturbed in my last post on this thread. Just frustration at the issue at hand. I just read another thread (have been busy in the real world sector...poo happens) dealing with this. I am glad our concerns are being taken into acount and dealt with. For what it is worth; Thanks... again sorry for the slight diatribe above haven't been able to crusie the message boards like I would like
I am confronted with this question right now since I got the automatic e-mail from the subscription dept yesterday. Do I re-new my subscription or just start buying from the local FLGS again. I am looking at it from a simple point of view, When my FLGS runs out of the current magazie I get mine in the mail. I thought about typing something witty and trite, but that wouldn’t help anything. I have called a few times to the customer service dept to express concern of late issues. Nice people on the phone, but end result/attitude, “Sorry, but we ship it out on this day and sounds like you are getting like the rest of the subscribers.” Don’t get me wrong I love both mags, I do. But when two members of two different weekly groups I run ask about an article and what I thought of the article. I feel like an unpreppared DM. That is a feeling that I do not enjoy. Why am I feeling like the heel? because I am a subscriber and I haven’t received my issue and won’t for about another two to three weeks. I feel like I am being punished for supporting a company directly through my subscription. So, I guess my questions to the powers that be are simple. Why should I renew my subscription? What benefit is there for me? I look forward to reading then official responses and non-offical responses as well
The article was as timely as a crit in the heat of the last battle!! I started my city thieves game last night, one that has been in the wings of my homebrew for a while now. The timing of the article was and is priceless. Articles like this short and sweet and give great depth are awesome. Keep up the great work!!!
I, like therogue5000, won't get my copy for another two weeks. But that has already been talked about. I digress, with the huge money the LoTR movies made, the bar for the fantasy genre has been set. If a company/people want to get people talking then the gold standard is the LotR. Like therogue5000, states, there are books that have been best sellers and have a vast history and plots to talk about. Not just the main stories that have been played/written about. But other plot lines that can genereate a spark of interest and stoke the fire of those already involved. The main thing is going to be cost of production of the movie and the cost of the actors/actresses. At least the name recognition of Paris Hilton is already there. Hope for the best but brace for the worst...that is my take on this subject.
I haven't seen the new issue yet as I am still waiting on my issue (that has already been addressed in a nother section of the message board). However, based on the last one I thought that the article was well written and descriptive of teaching younger kids the fine nuances of D&D. How did you learn not to touch another persons dice. Or not to let the DM touch your dice as the 'mojo' would be drained? The article went beyond mere gaming and looked at gaming in the real world and how it impacts life from one person's point of view. I know after last month's revamp I eagerly await the next issue. This eagerness is on many levels but one aspect is the humanistic approach of Wil's article towards gaming...but that is me...:)
Jeremy, Thanks for the quick and candor on this topic. I hope that it can be resolved with the various shippers/distributor. I know that it is frustrating for those of us who have a subscription to walk into our FLGS/LGS and see a mag and then have to wait upwards of three weeks to receive ours. Please, stay diligent on this topic as frustration can lead to bad feelings and we all don't want that.... :)
You could look at the KoK Salt and Sea Dogs (it is from Kenzer). Not bad rules but can become bogged down IMHO for sailing. Yet it does have good rules for this aspect of the sea. Just something to watch out for... There is Sea of Blood, from Mongoose. Pretty simple combat rules has nice tables and is a simple read that can be adapted to all seetings. I used this for a springboard to adapt the rest of the sea type books. There is the 7th Sea setting, from AEG. I didn't think this was the best setting for the rules are not very clear or conscise to what things are supposed to do in the game. IMO, they tried to get to technical in the actual sailing aspect of things. I used it to get ideas and deeper concepts for sea and concepts of coastal towns and port cities. Seafarer's Handbook is one that is out there that I haven't looked at.There is a few others out there but I can't remember. Be careful down range in the great sandbox...
slashdevnull wrote: .... Hurting (or even killing) characters is a great way to give them incentive to learn to use better tactics. Besides, death in D&D is hardly the end of a character's career. Couldn't agree more. That was the whole reason of mew moving in front of the screen. I think that with the incarnation of D&D we have now allows for more of a fluid battle with the aspects of logic and tactics for the characters to figure out and think before charging into a room of Gnoll fighters with only four hps... Sometimes players are not as tough as they think they are....;p
I am with Bavix and Random Jack, limit the access your PCs have to stuff. Then if you want to introduce stuff then you can and see how it balances out. I am a staunch follower of the "modern" gamer has to much stuff. So much, in fact, that they over look basic things. For instance, last campiagn one of my players was playing the groups cleric. It was his first time of playing a cleric. Also in the group was a guy that I have been gaming with for the last 5-6 years. He was playing an angel (gaheale sp?) any way he was wanting to use the BoED as did the cleric. I said sure, little did I know that I was opening up a can of worms. I knew something was amiss when the Cleric said, "hey this sancutary spell is pretty tight." This statement was towards the end of the campaign. It made me take a look at the number of books the players had ammassed since 3ed had came out. Surmise to say that this next campaign the entire group is allowed things only from the PHB and select other things. Not the 50 lbs of books before. Your in control and the trust is important. Rolling dice infront of the characters can be bad as well. Since there is no way to shave the damage dealt out. Last campaign I was rolling at the table with the players. One of the players told me to go back behind the screen to give us a break...all in all good luck in your game!!!
I will throw my two cents in as well. I would love to see player hand outs. Sure I can copy them and paintshop or whatever. Yet, I am finding myself in a time constraint, between real life and the game. When I run the things out of Dungeon it is typically something that has really caught my eye, since Dungeon is a clearing house, of sorts, and tends to have the broad spectrum of levels, settings twists, etc... If it has caught my eye I would like to be able to download some of the elements, as they have been mentioned, i.e. with out text of the adventure, cutting the page out, or handing the magazine over. BTW, I would like to thank you for posting the elements of the latest Dungeon. I am planning to run the adventure, Mad God's Key. For the start of the next campaign season. Thank you very much. Honest thanks!!!
Just a different opinion. I thought that the Will Save was humorous and was a breath of fresh air, as it is a total break from stories and rules to what makes a gamer/geek tick. Then again we all have different likes and dislikes. I really enjoy the new format and the way things have changed. I really think that the adventure break down by the stages (one high, one mid and one low) is great for ongoing games at various stages. As opposed to an issue that is all high or all low. Thanks for making this DM's job a little easier.... |
