What your looking at is a system that unifies many a mechanic.
Saves, ability checks, attribute checks and so forth have been boiled down into a single resolution system.
Much of the essence of the game is still there, and via the OGL serves as a bridge accross editions, but streamlined and serves to get as much out of the way of actual role play as necessary.
It all depends on what you want? Opinions are mixed, with, far as I can see, a clear good feeling. But one of the strengths of the system is that favorite mechanics from various editions are easily ported in without any harm to C&C's base system.
