Alright folks, my DM have a dilemma - not that we don't agree with eachother necessarily, we just don't know how to rule (I DM the group as well for other campaigns).

I'm playing a lich wizard(transmuter) so I have the Change Shape ability. A white dragon flew in and crushed the lich (gain the grappled/pinned condition); My idea was to use Change shape (since it's a Spell like ability, I need not cast it I can change into an earth elemental and earth glide out from underneath his claw. Thoughts?

One idea is the dragon uses his body weight (only) and I'm crushed between his belly and the ground (in which case it *could* work); Another idea is the dragon could've used it's claw to wrap around the lich, in which case the claw prevents the earth claw. Crush doesn't specify and the grapple method.

RAW I'd say I couldn't; Spirit I'd say I could.

I can understand magical - you construct it with overland flight (like magic carpets & flying cauldrons, it gets speed based on overland flight...but then again, those aren't vehicles). size of a ship seems to be relevant (alchemical says something to the effect of being able to powering ships many times its size) - or did Paizo just leave that for DMs to wave their hand at. Sad if they say you can use alchemical propulsion and then give NO guidelines for it, except for 2 samples.

I see there are two sample vehicles (Steam Giant and Alchemical Dragon) however, neither in the rules, or divining from the stats of these - I cannot tell how to derive the speed of the vehicle (or how many squares of alchemical engines are necessary relative to the size of the vehicle).

The alchemical dragon has 60 squares of space, but only 6 engines, but moves 100ft while the steam giant has only 16 squares with 10 engines, but only moves at a speed of 60ft.

The rules never seem to cover if adding more engines will increase speed, or increase the size of the ship, or what the required number of squares of engines are per size of ship, or base speed of alchemical propulsion.

I know of one player in my party that is wanting to build custom creations (I know a dwarven gyrocopter is in the works and the player wants it to be powered by alchemy)

Yeah, wasn't specifying how much cover, but yes, still the dragon would get +2 cover from his big toe being covered. I'm in favor of a rule such as yours Adamantine Dragon - but I'm looking for RAW as there's some debate in my group (and we have multiple people who DM).

So my group is discussing this currently, but I'm looking for some official feedback (we have a lot of theories, all which seem plausible rules answers - again, specifically looking for official ruling from Paizo).

If you have an archer shooting a dragon, RAW seems to imply that if there are any creatures between you and that dragon, the dragon gets cover, because there's a creature in the way. Slightly different version interprets it as fairly situational as a line is drawn from one corner of the attack to all four corners of the dragons full area and if one of those lines passes THROUGH your buddy (or any other creature), then they get cover.

Our issue with this is - that just doesn't make sense! A colossal dragon has a human standing in front of his left "pinky toe" and therefore gets cover?! Either that or we've missed something about having to be a given size/height as a creature to provide cover, but RAW doesn't seem to support such a criteria. Let us know - thanks!
