TITLE SAYS SPOILER, DO NOT READ IF YOU ARE PLAYING THIS MODULE

Hello, fellow gamers. Well, the players/PCs have done it again, going quite off the rails. To anyone who has GMd this module, I could use some advice on how to handle this...

The situation: the group has cleared Tula's crypt, and is now interested in exploring The Monastery of Saint Kyerixus. However, they could not just use the front gate, like any logical visitor would. Oh no - they sent in their rogue, buffed to the nines with the likes of invisibility, alchemical silence and expeditious retreat, etc. (Nothing illegal, so don't get caught up in that aspect.) With the +20 for invisibility and his stealth bonus, he is nearly undetectable, and in this case no Perception rolls noticed him.

First night: he scouted basically the western half of the complex. This lead to him noticing Azmur Kell in the grove area (F4). He made the Perception roll to connect Azmur's red hat as the same hat worn by Clausyre at the auction. (As a side, he also opened - just a bit - the door to the abattoir; then promptly closed it after seeing the corpses and being overwhelmed by the smell.)

Making it back to the party safely, he reported his findings. And this is where they derail and/or disembark the train, so to speak. The group now assumes that Azmur is either the lead bad guy, or in major cahoots with the major bad guy.

Second night: they devised a plan to get the entire party to the grove, and have managed to knock unconscious and abduct Azmur Kell. At least they intend to question him, and not outright slay him!

I don't necessarily want to railroad the PCs, but kind of need to a little. I'll have to play it by ear, based on where the questioning leads. I have to read the section of the module again, but intend to at least use the angle of, "Oh Gods get me back before Aeteperax finds me gone and slays my wife! Your blood will be on her hands! Etc.!"

Does anyone out there have any other suggestions that might make it fun getting them "back on track"?

Thank you kindly for your time, and happy gaming!

Hello fellow Pathfinders,

For the boon

Spoiler:
Sun Shogun Talismans

I am having trouble locating descriptions of the three items listed therein. Can someone help by pointing me in the right direction, please?

Thank you in advance, and happy gaming!

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I know that knowledge of scenarios before playing them is generally frowned upon (especially in regards to boons, items, etc.), but my PC who gained the

Spoiler:
Outstanding Bounty boon from the chronicle sheet from 6-17 Fires of Karamoss,

would truly love to

Spoiler:
re-gain those 4 previously spent Prestige points!

Would it be ethical and legal for any fellow Society PCs to point him in the correct direction or mention a mission of which they have heard which visits this location?

As of this writing, 1 of the 18 players for this time slot has dropped. IF I am seeing this correctly I am at the table of 5 (that is, IF the groups of 6+6+5 showing on the website are the final group assignments, which to be honest I have no idea if they are) and we would have four 9s and one 5 = 41 levels. Again, though, no word yet on which PCs are at which table so that could change; and no word on which GM has which table.

So by all appearances there is 1 spot currently open among the three tables. Who among the brave souls at the Society might join us?

Our GM is about to start us on the Shattered Star AP, and I am asking for non-Spoiler feedback from those who have played the AP: is crafting (mundane Craft skills, as well as Item Creation feats) feasible during this AP?

Meaning, are the PCs running around defeating evil the entire time? Or are there some in-game down time (weeks, at least) portions during which a PC could make <wands, wondrous items, etc.>?

Remember NO SPOILERS please!

Hello -

I have used the "Report an issue" link twice in the last month but have not received a response. I know, Gen Con reporting slows things down. Anyway the following item is listed but I literally have no idea what this is:

Pathfinder Roleplaying Game: Beginner Box Bash Demos Part 2 (OGL)

I don't recognize that at all, and don't think I played it. My guess is that someone mistakenly reported the wrong ID #. Since the paper versions of chronicles trump the reports on paizo.com, should I just not worry about it?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Hello fellow gamers!

Under one of my registered characters on this site, I noticed one incorrect session and one other session about which I had a question.

I used the "Report a problem" link for each (separately) and have not received any reply yet. Now, I did send the messages right after Gen Con and figured it might be a bit before I see a response.

Gen Con aside though has anyone had experience with this and might know how long it typically takes for a response? (Then I can add 1-2 weeks for Gen Con recovery.)

Thanks and happy gaming!

I tried to find this in the rules but could not; apologies if I missed it.

In my case, I need to know if a Zen Archer is a Monk? I.e., is she a Monk with the Zen Archer archetype, or is she only a zen archer? The reason I ask is because a feat I want to take has a prerequisite of "monk" and I am not sure if she qualifies.

Similarly, is an Infiltrator a Ranger with the infiltrator archetype, or simply and only an infiltrator?

Etc., ad nauseum.

Thank you in advance for your kindness!

Had some not-so-positive feedback the other night in an online game, and would like to ask the community to make sure I used my Spellstrike ability correctly.

Before you reply, please do not assume that I did not try to look through these forums for appropriate answers - I did so, and have read and reread until my eyes hurt; but could not quite find what I am looking for.

And so here are the steps I took on the turn in which my use of Spellstrike was questioned. Please presume that all situational modifiers for spells and such listed below we're taken onto consideration:

1. I was enlarged, and threatening three enemy combatants
2. I declared that I would use Spellstrike, with 'shocking grasp' as the spell
3. I took my normal, single attack against target A (It so happens that I confirmed a critical hit and eliminated the target)
4. I then declared my free additional attack against target B, hitting and delivering the 'shocking grasp' spell (It so happens that the weapon damage plus spell damage eliminated that target as well

And so, after the combat ends there was some... 'discussion'... as to whether I did the process correctly. I posted the Spellstrike description from prd.com, but there were still some unbelievers, in particular about the fact that I (in a way) took three standard standard actions.

I do recall reading in at least one other thread about the process, and am nearly certain I did this correctly. And in fact, I believe the GM agreed with my process (cannot recall for certain). But here, I am just hoping to get either confirmation or correction from the community here. I guess I just want to make sure I was not cheating!

Thanks in advance for your kind support of a somewhat-newb PFS-er!

For example, may I play a Pregen 1 in 'First Steps part 1' and apply the sheet to a level 3 who has not played that scenario?

thanks,

Silver Crusade 2/5

Hi all -

I am not sure if I am just being impatient, but wanted to get some thoughts from the community. I played 'First Steps' on 12/20, I believe it was a sign up I found here on paizo.com Grand Lodge online play.

The odd thing was, one of the other players was collecting the play/character info for the GM, so I don't have the GM's email otherwise I would simply email him to ask.

I have taken the following steps, though, before posting here: waited what I feel is an appropriate amount of time*; posted a response to a follow-up thread in the online play section here at paizo.com (after 4 days); emailed the other player who had collected info (once after 5 days and again after 8 days); PM'd the GM through paizo.com (after 8 days); PMd the other players through Roll20 (after 7 days; one responded he had also not received the sheet) and finally, this post.

* Yes, I do realize there are US holidays in the midst of this.

Hopefully everyone is okay and there were no tragedies involved. But I want to play that character again (in a game that has now passed and in some upcoming games), and was told by another GM in a side convo that I am technically not allowed to (especially since this missing XP will level this character).

So I ask here for advice: do I need to be more patient? If I cannot contact the GM by email and the 'helper' player is also not responding, where do I go next?

Thanks in advance for any help, and game on!

Hello, hoping someone here can guide me.

I am signed up for Master of the Fallen Fortress (levels 1-2) at 3 pm CT but have not heard anything from anyone yet. The game is scheduled through Warhorn\Roll20 Pathfinder Society, and I did email the organizer through the site; still nothing.

If the game is not happening, I sure would like to know (sooner than later) so I can try to horn in on another game.

Anyone have any advice?

Thanks!

Hello, in PFS play, fellow players have mentioned twice now, that my caster should get himself an acid flask. But I cannot find the source material anywhere - could someone please point me in the right direction?

Silver Crusade 2/5

So, I am in the midst of playing Thornkeep: the Accursed Halls. Or more correctly, I was. Unfortunately, I was playing a level one character. I am torn between being pissed and not being pissed. As you can probably guess, the

Spoiler:
wight
hit my character and that was all she wrote. I don't mind being challenged, role-playing or roll-playing wise, but wth?

Who puts a ***** into an adventure for level one characters? I mean, could you not have found some other way to challenge the party? Playing this game is supposed to be a fun way to pass a few hours, with friends old or new. But instant-kill effects? Against first-level characters? What kind of flipping sadist puts that encounter into a level one adventure?

And before anyone thinks to respond, "well you are not the only one," well yes I am. I am the only one who put the time and effort into creating and playing my character. The GM puts in time and effort, sure, in preparing the adventure, and I do respect that.

It came down to a die roll. My character missed the AO I had readied, and then the ***** rolled a 20 on its attack. Fricking e-dice, have nearly done nothing but screwed me since I started playing online during AEtherCon. And yes, I do realize it could easily have gone the other direction.

This is SO completely frustrating, because of the type of death that there is NOTHING that can be done. NOTHING? Do designers realize how utterly frustrating that is for players? I would have to think yes, since I suspect the designers must have played the game as PCs as well. So why would someone insert a no-chance, auto-death encounter into an adventure?

I supposed I don't expect anyone to answer or to care. I just wanted to express my frustrations in a public forum, I guess. Considering if I will ever play PFS again...

Game on, I guess :(

Silver Crusade

I did search these rules threads but have not come across this. The spell combat description says, "...cast any spell from the magus spell list..."

My question is that literally any spell for the magus spell list? Or any spell my magus has prepared that day? If the former, why even bother making the magus a prepared caster?

I feel like I am missing something obvious...

Thanks, and game on!

Silver Crusade 2/5

Hello, not sure whom to ask for help so figured someone here could direct me. This past weekend I played in two PFS scenarios at a convention, and received the sheets at game end from the gm. All is well there.

I do not yet have an official PFS character, so it was explained to me by the gm's that I could apply the benefits of the two sessions (played with Pregen characters) to my first character that I create and register on the site. So I wrote in "-1" on the prepare slips. It would seem that all is well.

The mistake I made is that I forgot that I had played a scenario at Gen Con three years ago, and thus already had a "-1" character. I don't care a bit about that character (also a Pregen, I am sure) and therefore would not want these two recent bonuses (some gold and two xp, I think) applied to it, but rather to a new character I want to build. Apparently I should have written "-2" on those little slips, but alas I had forgotten about the session I played three years ago.

Sorry to ramble, and to the question now: is there some way that someone can fix this for me? Delete or kill my character "-1"? Or apply my new stuff to my not-yet-registered character "-2"?

Thanks and happy gaming!
