I wasn't referring to the tax credits, I was referring the Act Bush signed to give $700 billion to bailout the banks. Kind of a six of one/half-dozen of another comparison to the Stimulus Bill. In other words, I was agreeing with this statement:

A GM is always free to rule however he wants, but in case you missed it, my post above is a direct citation from the PHB3.5. Nidho's post below mine is the same citation from the Pathfinder core rulebook. Jason just, left off the examples. "If you move no distance in a round (commonly because you have swapped your move for one or more equivalent actions, such as standing up), you can take one 5-foot step either before, during, or after the action. For example, if Tordek is on the ground, he can stand up (a move action), move 5 feet (a 5-foot step), and then attack."

I like the idea of using the d12 for the d4 and I've even thought about using 2d12/2 for the greatsword, to satisfy my d12 cravings.
Maezer>Thanks, I think the 1s=7 is a good alternative. Maybe I'll try it for awhile. Cartigan>I don't want to nerf the greatsword, but I don't want to give away too much the other way either.
Would you care if your DM switched the Greatsword's damage to d12 (from 2d6)? You would have a 3 times better chance of rolling a 12. (Or a 1) Would that offset the nice safe average of 7 you get with 2d6? What if all 1's rolled counted as a 2? Math: With a d12, you have an 8.3% chance to roll any number.
With 2d6, you only have a 2.8 chance of rolling a 12 or a 2, and a 16.7% of rolling a 7.
Tom> Ok, I get what your saying.
I am trying to avoid someone crying foul, if I create a bola-throwing character, don't give him the Agile Maneuvers feat, and use his DEX bonus instead of his STR bonus to calculate his CMB.
I've been curious about the bolas, too. Am I correct that RAW, you would have to take Agile Maneuvers to use your DEX bonus instead of your STR bonus as part of your CMB even though it is a ranged attack? It seems odd not to factor in DEX for a ranged attack even if you don't have the Agile Maneuvers feat.

Evidence of similar powers. When Thriller came out, my friends and I hated Michael Jackson so much and were so sick of hearing how great he was, one of them wished he would die. Another friend said "no way" then he becomes an icon, like Buddy Holly or Jimi Hendrix; we should hope he becomes fat and disgusting. A different friend said fat didn't stop Elvis's legacy when he died. So I said, we should wish he becomes a child molester, then no one would like him. :p
Point of clarification: Kroenke owns 40%, he is not the majority owner. Otherwise there would be a conflict with him owning another franchise not it the same market. The Frontiere children own 60%. As for Limbaugh/Checketts ownership, there was an interesting opinion made by an ESPN commentator on whether it is better to have a hands-on fan of the game as an owner, or an owner who stays in the background and lets a GM handle things. He was for the latter, sighting teams such as the NY Giants as a no-name owner team, and teams like the Redskins(Daniel Snyder), the Cowboys(Jerry Jones), and the Raiders(Al Davis)as teams with hands-on owners. I think one thing you might see if they became owners, is a tendency to go for big name free agents. I don't know if this would be any better for the team or not, but let's face it, this is the Rams we are talking about, and there is no way they can be any worse than they are right now. They are at rock bottom.
Probably wouldn't move the team. Rush's partner owns the St. Louis Blues hockey team and the NFL has a rule that a majority owner can only own another sports team if it's in the same market. Plus Rush is a native of Missouri and he and Checketts have expressed they would keep the team in St. Louis. Not saying it couldn't happen, but it would take some work.

It's cheesy, but it takes itself just seriously enough to make it still a good flick. I thoroughly enjoy myself every time I watch it. I could watch the extended fight scene after they have put on the warpaint every day for a month and not get tired of it.
I totally agree with Jason. I have no guilty pleasure about liking Dragonslayer. Its model and puppets special effects still outshine most of the computer-generated effects being done today. It is just plain old good movie.
During a break when I was in college, I went with my roommate to his hometown. We spent the night at some of the bars and on the way home went to get some beer at the liquor store before it closed. We pulled into the parking lot, tried to determine if it was still open because the lights were on but we couldn't see anyone through the window, and decided it was late enough that we would just go home and go to bed. We found out the next day, the store was being robbed at that time and the robber had ended up killing everyone in the store. |
