Flyby Attack is a monster feat rather than a combat feat, so a 2nd-level fighter cannot take it as a bonus combat feat, unless that fighter has the Airborne Ambusher archetype.

The strix in my party loves the Death from Above combat feat.

Archery before the Rapid Shot feat is weak because that balances the natural protection of standing back from the front line. A flying strix has the protection of flight, which makes the protection of a rear position redundant. And saying, "archery for safety," about the party member who likely has the highest hit points and best armor class of the party sounds downright cowardly.

In contrast, a strix fighter that at first level will fly forward and trip the most dangerous foe to immobilize him and keep the rest of the party safe will be hailed as a hero. Trip builds are weak at higher levels due to giant opponents with ridiculously high CMDs and non-humanoid opponents with no legs. Take advantage of tripping while it is strong.

sorry edited my build order and it removed the part where i stated my dm approved the flyby attack feat... and thank you for the info i shall add death from above

super necro but... im such a terrible person i made that post extremely tired i guess... i wanted to find the hardness and hit points and stats in general for a chest made of metal i guess specifically iron, based off of the stats for the wooden ones...

1 person marked this as a favorite.

i have a strix fighter str 16 dex 17 con 16 int 9 wis 16 cha 7.
not sure how to improve or if what im doing is good or not but the plan so far is. archery for safety until i get some feats and keep as a back up, but gonna use a Guisarme for that reach trip.
LVL 1 char-point blank shot, fight-precise shot
LVL 2 fight-flyby attack
LVL 3 char-dirty fighting
LVL 4 fight-combat reflexes switch-precise shot for improved trip
LVL 5 char-power attack
LVL 6 fight-greater trip
LVL 7 char-dodge
LVL 8 fight-fury's fall
LVL 9 char-mobility
LVL 10 fight-felling smash
Built this way so that i could potentially drop the trip act fighter feats for archery type things if it becomes boring or something
also list of interested/interesting feats: vital strike, improved vital strike, greater vital strike, improved drag, greater drag, just out of reach
more backup/filler feats: rapid Shot , deadly aim, multi-shot
havent even looked into armor or weapon training yet.
any build ninjas out there that could point a noob in the right direction/ give some guidance?

Can you use felling smash as an attack of opportunity?

im wanting to know the weight of an object if it were made iron if the only listed weight is of wood originally

Large Chest: Empty Weight: 75 lb. Capacity: 6 cubic ft./? lb.

The common wooden chest comes in several sizes, including small (2 cubic feet, 1 hit point, break DC 17), medium (4 cubic feet, 15 hp, break DC 23), large (6 cubic feet, 30 hit points, break DC 29), and huge (8 cubic feet, 50 hit points, break DC 35). Most include a simple inset lock.

tried using shields as examples for a weight ratio but the numbers bounced around to much... and mundane wood and iron dont list weights per cubic inch/foot or anything as far as i can find... math is hard lol this bugs my alot though to not know... any help would be appreciated...
