I am thinking of writing a campaign based on Hermea and the Shimmering Isles. The question I would ask is, What kind of hook would you use to start this adventure? Ideas I have had so far:

Start late: the adventure starts just outside promise, the adventurers have accepted an invitation to join the great Utopia.

Minor Tests: tests for each of the adventurers which bring them to the attention of Agents of Promise. A Rogue character being bailed out of gaol for instance but then given an invitation, A paladin is attending a vigil in his church when his superior is asked to give him an invitation. A wizard receives message from his order. etc.

What others would you suggest?

I have been looking at the Amnesiac Archetype in the Occult Adventures book and wondered if this could would work well retooled for a sorcerer?

I have been toying with writing an adventure where all of the adventurers awake with no memories in a crater near town. Each has a set of abstract images that float around their brain (represented by cards) these turn out to be spells which the characters can learn to focus as they gain experience, and learn how they came to be in the crater with the abilities.

I also wondered if it would be good to have each character start with the amnesiac psychic at first level, but have no other psychics in the game world to make the powers seem more exotic. The PCs stat their character as they wish, but they can only choose the class they wish to follow from level 2, as level 1 is taken by the psychic class.

Hey everyone,

I am currently GMing Rise of the Runelords and as part of it I have created sidequests for each of the PCs. One of the PCs had the idea that his character was going to start as a Rogue and become a Shadowdancer (which she has done admirably). I created a secret group called the Grey Council which trained her in the ways of the Shadowdancer and as she became accomplished and helped with their goals I rewarded her with two weapons, twinned Scimitars called Kemuri and Kagami (Smoke and Mirror). The PC is asking for background information about the weapons.

I am wondering if anyone out there would like to help out?

With the fashion for Hybrid Classes, and the Millions of Archetypes available, does anyone feel that the Prestige Classes should be rebuilt as characters in their own right?

For example, would you like the ability to play a Shadowdancer or Dragon Disciple from level 1 (albeit much of the strength of the classes locked into higher level positions.

Which playable factions/Galactic powers would you like to see?

I'll kick off:

* The Agrarians - A society that eschews high technology in favour of a more environmentally friendly existence. They have used technology in the past and found the price too high.
* The Hammer of Power - A despotic regime in which most of the people are downtrodden in favour of a very small oligarchy.
* The Illumanated Consortium - A regime that values knowledge and research above all other things. Often seen as an enlightened organisation, but is there a dark side to the ethical basis of some experiments?
* The Andosani-Kaijitsu Corporation - A capitalist group that prioritises keeping production planets working and transportation lanes free. Often seen as a benefit to other factions for their ability to make sure equipment is available almost anywhere. But what happens when you can't pay?
* The Driving Horde - A militaristic group which holds sway over a large area of the galaxy.
* The Shining Light - A devoit group of religious followers, bringing the light of xxxx god to the heathens. Are they Paladins or Zealots?
* The Free Peoples Cooperative - A disperate group of people escaping from some many of the other organisations who have gathered together under a flag of collective need.

I am just about to relinquish control of our gamer group. We are currently playing Rise of the runelords with Pathfinder, but one of the players wants a go at DMing. He wants to run a Greyhawk campaign with %th edition.

My problem, try as I might I can't find anything I like about Greyhawk. From the boring cultures to the unpronounceable gods (Fharlanghn, the Greyhawk god of dyslexia and bad scrabble hands). Please help.

I have created a quiz which asks eight questions and, hopefully, from that say from which area of Golarion your character should come from. Take a look and tell me what you think.

I had an idea for a campaign world which pretty much follows the standard PF rules apart from:

* Magic cannot be written down. This means there aren't any wizards, but sorcerers and many other arcane users are unaffected. Also, there are no scroll magic items.

* There are less sentient races and those that are sentient are separate species and can't interbreed, thus removing half-elf and half-orc, together with a lot of the other lesser known races.

These are obviously a starting point, but if you have any suggestions or comments about the ideas so far, please be my guest.

What percentage of Message Board threads would you say devolve into arguments about alignment?

I have read quite a few posts regarding the relative merits of powergaming and min maxing, but I was wondering if anyone has purposefully played a character that is extremely average in every regarding?

Maybe a fighter that wanted to sacrifice overkill for a few extra skills, and ability to talk to NPCs without them immediately hating.

Or a wizard who was happy not hitting the heddy heights of level 7 spells if he could have a few extra hit points and the ability to carry more than a spare towel.

Or maybe a priest who wanted to know more than the two skills.

And I'm not particularly talking about people who roll stats straight out, I'm talking about points buying were they have actively chosen a character that underwhelms in all areas.

I'm running a published campaign with 4 players and I like to add side quests specific to the players involved.

Spoiler:
One of the players has created a Gnome Barbarian character called Mouse. The background he has created works on him being born an actual mouse and transformed into a gnome at some point in the past.

I want to change this so that he has been a Gnome Barbarian all along, but a which changed his memory as punishment for a crime he and his tribe did, so he would sever all connections with his past/clan.

I just can't seem to find a spell that would be able to change a characters memory, any ideas?

I am about to start GMing Rise of the Runelords in a few weeks and thought it would be fun to have an accurate calendar for the PCs to follow - for instance those that observe holy days on the proper day may gain hero points.
I have based much of it on this years calendar, so it could be used as a real calendar if they wish (days of the month are on the correct days of the week, full moons, etc) and I have moved the adventure to start in 4715 as this seems to fit with 2015. Anway, if you wish to take a look it can be found at:

What are the chances of getting those lovely people at Paizo to make their maps available as JPEG downloads?

I am fairly new to Pathfinder (having just moved from AD&D2e) and, because we are all old and have moved around the country, mostly play RPGs together over Roll20.

I know the adventures are available as PDFs, but you still get image degradation if you screen capture maps and handouts for use.

If I could get hold of original JPEGs for Ries Of The Runelords I think it would make my players experience that little bit better.
