Please describe your vision of Athena, or name the story you're using so I can make a guess as to which Golarion deity you might use.

-way better skills and high mental stats; this isn't a beast, this thing is probably smarter and wiser than the paladin. A mount with three Knowledges at +10 and +17 Perception.
-griffons can understand common, the owls understand sylvan and have animal telepathy. Neither can speak.
-owls get True Seeing 3/day?!

Take the griffon, make it slower and sneakier, give it a big bonus to Perception in dim light or whatever, trade out it's attacks for two talons at 1d8 each, call it a day. That's what I'd do
saying this i will ask you the same question what would be the Prerequisites of get a giant owl like i ask MrCharisma

I'm assuming a Giant Owl isn't significantly more powerful than a Griffon, so I was just going with those stats (listed in monstrous mount).
So at level 5 the Paladin has 4 ranks in the appropriate skills and can take a Mount as a Divine Bond. With Monstrous Mount they could take a Griffon Giant Owl as their Divine Bond Mount. They wouldn't be allowed tonride it while it flies, but it'd still be a powerful ally.
Then at level 7 if they take Monstrous Mount Mastery they'd get the mastery benefit listed in the Monsteous Mount feat - for Griffon and Hippogriff the mastery ability is that the mount can fly with a rider at half speed (something like 60-full, 30-half if it's a combat mount, 80-full, 40-half if the mount isn't likely to be used to attack as much).
i will keep that in mined

The sacred servant archetype for a deity with the animal domain can give any kind of animal companion, and giant owl is an option. The boon companion feat would be almost required.
As to who would replace Athena - Athena the goddess of wisdom, Athena the goddess of war, Athena the goddess who turned a weaver who bested her into a spider, Athena the patron of Athens - what aspect would you want to focus on?
he is a Aasimar paladin so no familiars he wants to ride the thing
for Athena was the goddess of wisdom, justice, war, skills, art and industry in Greek mythology he asking for. i hope that helps.
in a nutshell HOW?
i have a player that asked to play a paladin of Athena and he sayed that higher (7 or so) if will would be gifted a owl for a mount.
one: whats a good god to use for Athena? (she not in pathfinder)
two: how do i give a Owl mount at higher level idk what feats, lvl, ect? (if any)
three: i saw a elf with a owl mount some-were in some book do he need to be a elf race (any race) to get a owl mount?

Chaoskin
my new game will be use Armor AS DR from ultimate combat Pg 191; has any made a char sheet with the alternative system build in the char sheet? and yes the Called shoots as well
idk were to put this one so i put it in general discussion
OK so the Grenades are similar to delayed blast fireball with one round fuse?? before they go off?
what is the shortest fuse you can put on a Grenade? (not blowing up your hand)
sorry let me try to clear this up im running Iron gods and someone outside my game (not picking on anyone here but a old friend of my is a Pathfinder Society lieutenant idk if i get it form him or not) say the the grenade/rocket launcher and/or grenade if a direct hit that act like alchemist’s bomb with no save even though there a save to them that's what im trying to find out
some were i herd that i can throw a Splash Weapon (a bomb or a grenade form Iron gods) that if i hit my target they don't need to make a save throw is this true if so can you lead me in the right direction (like FAQ or a Book) in writing plz.

Demon Mother's Mask
Description
This primitive hyena mask is usually made of leather, but may be made of soft metal like copper or carved from an animal’s skull. The wearer gains a +2 competence bonus on Handle Animal and Heal checks. The wearer can smell when nearby creatures are in heat or otherwise especially fertile (creatures such as humans that can breed at any time of the year always smell fertile unless they are barren).
If Lamashtu is the wearer’s patron, the mask counts as an unholy symbol and a hole for a third eye appears in its forehead. The wearer can use summon monster II once per day to summon a fiendish hyena, which obeys the wearer as if they shared a common language. The wearer may interbreed with animals within one size category of the wearer’s size. The offspring of such unions are members of the mother’s race with the fiendish simple template and bear monstrous aesthetic features of the father’s race.
Q: can i use the demon make to find invisibility enemies?
they did get get rid of sneak attack in starfinder
sneak attack plus sniper weapon = that what you get for not keeping your eyes open for a ambush
yes i haven't but im building a char and i dont have the info plz pass it on
all the games i play in must shooter were Sniper i must missed something somewhere if i take the range penalty to hit you at 2000+ft and hit you does it go into HP or into Stamina if you can't see it coming
i would thank it would be HP and thanking the dice damage is too low for it lvl yes i know that i get one shoot at a round but the damage is too low to be used at a sniping weapon

@ Johnny_Devo i know the mechanics and the feats it's one of my guys are rule lawyer and trying to get around the rules and he build a monk with all 3 feat and trying to get more movement out of it im trying to get a the holes closed
now its say i moved 30ft to a Mage and attacked then the mage moves 5ft a way can i use step-up and strike? i know you can't move action and a 5ft in the some round.
the why i ask this is this
Quote: Benefit: When using the Step Up feat to follow an adjacent foe, you may move up to 10 feet. You may still take a 5-foot step during your next turn, and any movement you make using this feat does not subtract any distance from your movement during your next turn. "any movement you make using this feat does not subtract any distance from your movement during your next turn" This will allowing him to move is 60 (for a monk) and 10 each round is the a errata or something it should subtract form his movement if only 5 ft
sorry it takeing me so long to get back to this with the rebuild after the storm and all
i need to have minis to show you what i mean but i will try it in another way
if (let's way a mage) 5 ft a way form you can i use the 10ft form following step and be in another Square that adjacent to the (mage)? or can i use the 10ft to move around him and still be adjacent to the mage?
ok i have more questions
one if i take a 5ft step way can i move to another adjacent square another way of say this if i'm in front of you and you move a way can i move to your left or right of you or do i say in front of you use follow up feat or is it the closest adjacent square?
idk the other question but it was something like if i move a way like 10ft and stop can i use follow up feat to move up and Strike?
i hate to bring up this after a few days after i drop it but this keep coming up (keep thinking about it)
2 ppl round you one behind you and the other is on your left, the one on your left takes a 5ft step in front of you (so they get Sneak Attack and/or get flanking) will Step Up and Strike go off?
sorry i have to get this off my chest all purposes if i take a 5ft step is provokes AoO yes i know its a option but tell me someone that will not take the opportunity to attack a monster/mage/person/thing if they take a 5ft step?
wait you may also make a 5-foot step as an immediate action so you can do once a round anyway so no it will not work with combat reflexes will yes as the number of AoO you get a round but you can't do Step Up and Strike but once a round. so why am i losing my head of this you can do this once a round before or after your turn.
so let me get this right Step Up and Strike trumps the 5-foot step rules and Following Step louds him to move thro difficult Terrain (10ft) even thro its a 5ft step.
wraithstrike wrote: Withdraw and regular movements are not 5-foot steps so no he can't use it. The feat only works on 5-foot steps. so if i move letting him take AoO the Step Up and Strike don't go off
that nice in all but
Following Step feet wrote:
When using the Step Up feat to follow an adjacent foe, you may move up to 10 feet.
but he can move up to 10ft so how dose that work ?
if i use withdraw does he get Step Up and Strike?
or if i decide to move away from him does he get AoO and Step Up and Strike?
and if i use Acrobatics and make the high CMD (some of the char i get 40+ like a 10th lvl monk) will he still get Step Up and Strike?
ok how about difficult terrain (a web spell) and the boss as freedom of movement i take a 5-foot step and he still make AoO?

i have a problem i had to stop my game today because of this!
from corebook and APG wrote: Step Up (Combat)
You can close the distance when a foe tries to move away.
Prerequisite: Base attack bonus +1.
Benefit: Whenever an adjacent foe attempts to take a 5-foot step away from you, you may also make a 5-foot step as an immediate action so long as you end up adjacent to the foe that triggered this ability. If you take this step, you cannot take a 5-foot step during your next turn. If you take an action to move during your next turn, subtract 5 feet from your total movement.
Following Step (Combat)
You can repeatedly close the distance when foes try to move away, without impeding your normal movement.
Prerequisites: Dex 13, Step Up.
Benefit: When using the Step Up feat to follow an adjacent foe, you may move up to 10 feet. You may still take a 5-foot step during your next turn, and any movement you make using this feat does not subtract any distance from your movement during your next turn.
Normal: You can only take a 5-foot step to follow an opponent using Step Up.
Step Up and Strike (Combat)
When a foe tries to move away, you can follow and make an attack.
Prerequisites: Dex 13, Following Step, Step Up, base attack bonus +6.
Benefit: When using the Step Up or Following Step feats to follow an adjacent foe, you may also make a single melee attack against that foe at your highest base attack bonus. This attack counts as one of your attacks of opportunity for the round. Using this feat does not count toward the number of actions you can usually take each round.
Normal: You can usually only take one standard action and one 5-foot step each round.
i know that taking a 5-foot step don't provoke attacks of opportunity. Dose he get a attacks of opportunity because i moved 5-foot step? i thank his is OP to me can any help me get my head round this plz FAQ or something ppl keep saying that feets bypass 5-foot step

Mithral:Mithral is a very rare silvery, glistening metal that is lighter than steel but just as hard. When worked like steel, it becomes a wonderful material from which to create armor, and is occasionally used for other items as well. Most mithral armors are one category lighter than normal for purposes of movement and other limitations. Heavy armors are treated as medium, and medium armors are treated as light, but light armors are still treated as light. This decrease does not apply to proficiency in wearing the armor......
my party has a problem "other limitations" dose Evasion base off the proficient (light or no armor) or what made out off (Mithral)?
i stared at my questions for some time before post it idk how to ask it any other way
so you saying that the other books are not core book then i can say no to Ultimate Magic really! all the games i play Ultimate Magic and the others ( combat, APG, ACG, ARG, ext) are as treated core books if i say no to any of the "core books" they will kill me nvm not letting magus and the other classes ppl like to play if i let ppl play the class i have to let ppl use the spells in the book so is that you are say that the other books are not core books?
BTW i did go back in to hero lab i dont have a specialized (Universalist) and there 28 spells in the core "rule" book im ont doing to do the math for the others is over 100 any way your right my bad
i used hero lab that means there spell the hero lab did add then the core book only

Quote:
Spell Combat (Ex): At 1st level, a magus learns to cast spells
and wield his weapons at the same time. This functions much
like two-weapon fighting, but the off-hand weapon is a spell
that is being cast. To use this ability, the magus must have one
hand free (even if the spell being cast does not have somatic
components), while wielding a light or one-handed melee
weapon in the other hand. As a full-round action, he can make
all of his attacks with his melee weapon at a –2 penalty and
can also cast any spell from the magus spell list with a casting
time of 1 standard action (any attack roll made as part of this
spell also takes this penalty). If he casts this spell defensively,
he can decide to take an additional penalty on his attack rolls,
up to his Intelligence bonus, and add the same amount as a
circumstance bonus on his concentration check. If the check
fails, the spell is wasted, but the attacks still take the penalty.
A magus can choose to cast the spell first or make the weapon
attacks first, but if he has more than one attack, he cannot
cast the spell between weapon attacks.
Spellstrike (Su): At 2nd level, whenever a magus casts a
spell with a range of “touch” from the magus spell list, he
can deliver the spell through any weapon he is wielding as
part of a melee attack. Instead of the free melee touch attack
normally allowed to deliver the spell, a magus can make one
free melee attack with his weapon (at his highest base attack
bonus) as part of casting this spell. If successful, this melee
attack deals its normal damage as well as the effects of the
spell. If the magus makes this attack in concert with spell
combat, this melee attack takes all the penalties accrued by
spell combat melee attacks. This attack uses the weapon’s
critical range (20, 19–20, or 18–20 and modified by the keen
weapon property or similar effects), but the spell effect
only deals ×2 damage on a successful critical hit, while the
weapon damage uses its own critical modifier.

If early, I'd flatly say no as a non-magical option, though you could still magically enchant it to be silent. For magic, There should be some spells that can accomidate this.
As for modern firearms, you could have some custom attachment that fits where a bayonet would mount, probably adding some weight. I will note that the silencer still wouldn't make the weapon fire silently, but you could muffle the sound a bit.

This spell generates wholesome, drinkable water, just like clean rain water. Water can be created in an area as small as will actually contain the liquid, or in an area three times as large—possibly creating a downpour or filling many small receptacles. This water disappears after 1 day if not consumed.
Note: Conjuration spells can’t create substances or objects within a creature. Water weighs about 8 pounds per gallon. One cubic foot of water contains roughly 8 gallons and weighs about 60 pounds.
Shocking Grasp
Your successful melee touch attack deals 1d6 points of electricity damage per caster level (maximum 5d6). When delivering the jolt, you gain a +3 bonus on attack rolls if the opponent is wearing metal armor (or is carrying a metal weapon or is made of metal).
i know to will not work this is why wholesome, drinkable water, just like clean rain water. i know rain water is not salt water, electricity can do a lot of damage if it in slat water some of my ppl sad the rain water can do electricity damage but not as much. In regards to question 4, I meant the strength of their senses. You know how (real world) canines can smell better than humans? I want to know if I should model the race with a canine's sense of smell (strong) and ability to see in the dark or if their sense of smell/vision is closer in strength to a human (normal).
In regards to question 6, I meant magical as in biologically magical. Almost all races use magic in one form or another and any race can be mages, but are they innately magical? A Kitsune has a lot of magical abilities that they get purely for being that race (shapeshifting, magical tail, Dancing Lights, etc) and would be considered "innately magical". A human or halfling don't have any innate magic and their bonuses are biological (better senses, better balance, learns skills easily, etc) and would be considered "mundane". If they happen to be innately magical then it opens up some nifty things like speaking to animals X times a day, Fear spell-like-abilities, etc.
In regards to question 7, I was asking if there was any particular bonuses you wanted them to have. Do you want them to have a +2 to strength within their ability score traits? Do you want them to see well in the dark? Do you want them to shoot lasers from their eyeballs (not serious, of course)? If there's something you really picture them being able to do (magical or mundane) then let me know and I'll try to find a way to work...
the way i was think about it was human cames from apes the wolf race came from wolf so there sense would be like real wolves (canines).
for question 6 i was talking about class levels, but (canines) may have low-light, stuff that (canines) may have. none of them have magical abilities (like spell-like etc) maybe speak with animals now think about it i can do that with class levels nvm
for question 7 maybe +2 strength, +2 wisdom, -2 something (idk if i can do that) idk if (canines) can see in the dark (as darkvision) i know they have low-light, no lasers out of their eyes, "picture them being able to do?" hmmmmm you're making me think about this as more i think and look my screen i'm like the fear thing, staying true with no magical abilities plus to intimidate (opening round they use the skill)
i hope that helps

I can probably homebrew something approximating what you're looking for if I have that information. The mechanics of it, at least. I'll base it off of an existing race (so not much work to memorize and/or write down) and post it here for you (and whoever else) to see. At that point you can fluff up their culture and background information however you want.
they look like werewolf pride comes up a lot
2 Do they work well with nature: yes they all do spears, bows, leather if they're not using for tents, eat what they need not what they want, etc
3 there wolfs they work together like packs but do to the war all the packs are fighting to kill off the other races
4 senses like canine's ? idk what you mean there
5 mostly pride and trickery (only in combat, out number you, hit and run stuff like that)
6 they do use magic maybe both i will keep my options open
7 ?
im looking for something that look like a werewolf

sorry its taking me so long to post back the last few days have been hell for me
lemeres wrote: Adlet? Not sure if they would be appropriate to most 'island' environments
Unless you put a particularly tall mountain on it,so their could be a cold environment. That could lead to an interesting dichotomy-the Adlets control the forests of the mountain, while the minotaurs control the labyrinthine cave system inside the mountain.
Of course, the Adlet's relatively high level (15HD and CR of 10) might also limit their use. Sure you wouldn't prefer some nice werewolves instead? I am fairly sure minotaurs are immune (doesn't lycanthropy only affect humanoids?) and it provides an easy bit of foreshadowing (have the party encounter a single injured and half mad minotaur with a silver ax)
i wasing to use them but the high level thing what killed it
MrSin wrote: You can always homebrew, or even reskin a race and give it another's stats. That's usually the quick way to get things done imo. For 3rd party, I immediately remember Anumus from alluria and Hengeyokai from rite. reskin do u mean use the gnoll stats but there look like wolf not hyenas
Hengeyokai!!!!!! i love the race but i can play them as wolf race but when they die they go back as human good one thro
Anumus i never heard of them before i will keep that in mined
Adjule wrote: There is also the Lupin race. If you could find a copy of the Dragon Magazine it appeared in for 3rd edition, it would be easy to convert. Or just make up your own. i have heard of them i may have to look them up

There's definitely a sweet spot when it comes to race creation. i really dont want to this
MrSin wrote: Well, if your aiming for somewhere between what's already existent you have a pretty wide variance. Most of things you can get from a racial trait aren't really that overpowered on their own. +2 to a skill isn't much, +2 to a variable stat won't be any better than any other race, etc. You probably don't start to break things too much until your a four armed super mutant, but funny enough four arms itself isn't that powerful. i will keep that in mine

nice :)
Epic Meepo wrote: I have an upcoming product line that will kick off with a PDF entitled "Clan of the Dog" a few months from now. (Actually, it will kick off with two PDFs, "Clan of the Cat" being the second.)
"Clan of the Dog" includes character options and story elements for a new canine race, but you could easily adapt that material for use with any existing canine race. If you end up using one of the races mentioned earlier in this thread, "Clan of the Dog" would still be useful as supplemental material.
If this thread is still active when "Clan of the Dog" is released, I'll be sure to post a link to the product herein.
hmmmm that new but i dont that the time for this but i will buy it when it comes out
Purple Dragon Knight wrote: i'd use werewolf (hybrid human/wolf form) for the stats of that race... just remove "curse of lycanthropy" from their bite attack... thats a other good one but some as Hengeyokai!!!!!! (sorry i love the race) they change back to human
Aziraya Zhwan wrote: You can also do Aasimars that originated as a mix between canine-looking Agathions and Humans, but over time they simply homogenized as Idyllkin Aasimars. Could do the same thing but with Archon Blooded and Hound Archons. i was thing about plane touch or use a template but to much work or me
thats a lot of good ideas come them coming plz
I didn't know where to put this post
i'm working on a game that a party or ppl has never on the island and the only race living on the island are minotaurs and a wolf (canine) race (there at war) and find the minotaur but the wolf race i can't find (i know about the gnoll) i'm keep my options open.
my question is, Is there a canine (wolf, hound, hyena) race (but the gnoll) out there? it can be a 3ed party race. I know i can make one but asking first before i do that.
the way i've been doing is if you rest/sleep for 8hr you can reslot your spells but someone said its like bombs X-number a day but i find rules say if you rest/sleep you can recast the spell you used is this true if not clear it up for me.
i know that Divine spellcasters may pry to the god to reslot there spells at one time each day, dose rest/sleep for 8hr work for them too (recast their spells only) or only Arcane spellcasters?
