All this is based on personal opinions, But I hate when a player is not ready for a game, but as a GM I have to deal with it.
My opinion still stands as my opinion, It is up to you to take the opportunity to take the option given to you to convert your character if you available to be there between 0800-1300....
Hiya. Well, like I said, I just think Paizo is really pushing the bounds of what is reasonably expected for people to be ready for their games at Gencon. Seriously, what about the casual gamers that want to "try out" the new system and signed up for games and don't realize what needs to be done or find out and choose not to? Yes, you can use pre-gens, but does that allow you to keep your experience and apply it to a later created character? (If so, it's better than I thought, but still a pretty bad solution in terms of satisfaction.)
I think this is a dis-service to the Gencon attendee consumer who has to waste their convention time forced to re-tool their characters hours before they start playing with brand new material. I'm hoping you have alot of avid fans signed up, because otherwise you may have complete chaos if a good portion of the folks aren't ready, and that is Paizo's fault - not the players who are trying to prepare beforehand. Bad timing on the "players that are not ready" quote - this is a situation because of Paizo decisions and if that's the policy the only people they can blame are themselves. ESPECIALLY when they could be selling the PDFs beforehand.
I'll get my character converted one way or another before my first slot, but it doesn't detract from the fact that I think this is really unreasonable and not a good PR choice for Paizo. I really, >REALLY< love Paizo and want them to succeed - they have excellent products and service up to this point and I put a lot of money in their coffers because of it. But, as I said, I entirely disagree with this policy which promotes book selling at Gencon while immensely disadvantages and wastes the time of the Gencon attendees who are there to support Paizo. Having the PDF available this week would have entirely avoided my rants, and I'm going to buy two or three books anyway.
Anyway - please make this known to Paizo management. That's my intent here, to make sure that they know my feelings as to properly treat a consumer.
Thanks for your responses, Dragnmoon, but I respectfully disagree that this is reasonable.
Thanks!
