Maybe someone could take the time to help me out with some Pathfinder problems I'm running into. I'm GMing a game and the players just hit level four. One of them has a Summoner out of the Advanced Players Guide. The Summoner gets an Eidolon and at level one he took the base form of Biped (p. 60 APG) which gave the eidolon 3 free evolutions; claws, arms, legs. He had spent his three evolution points on three one point cost evolutions; bite, slam, increased slam damage. On table 2-9 p.59 (APG) the eidolon at first level gets maximum attacks of three. On p.58 the description of max attacks is, "... the maximum number of natural attacks that the eidolon is allowed to possess ..." Does this mean it can make three attacks in combat? Or the eidolon can only possess a maximum number of three natural attack options on it's body? At first level with these evolution choices my player claimed to be able to do all of these attacks at the highest base attack bonus. On p.60 APG under Evolutions, "Natural attacks listed as primary are made using the eidolon's full base attack bonus ..." The two claws, slam, bite are listed as primary attacks. There is no description of primary attacks in the Corebook or Gamemastery Guide. So at first level my player had his eidolon make (using the full round attack action) a slam at highest bonus using the arms limbs, two claw attacks at the highest bonus using the legs limbs, and a bite at the highest bonus with the mouth. A grand total of four attacks all at the highest bonus. Of course he was dropping CR1 and 2s like flies and the Paladin player felt his character was not needed. Now at level four the Summoner has two limbs arms evolutions, one legs, two slams, one claws, two increased damage slam, one increased damage claws, one improved natural armor totalling his max of 7 evolution points spent. Does this grant him two slams and two claws for a total of four attacks at the highest bonus dealing potentially 2d6+strength + 2d6+strength + 1d6+strength + 1d6+strength? at 4th level? If his eidolon uses a melee weapon would he then make the rest of his natural attacks at the highest bonus or at a -5 penalty as stated on p.182 CR under natural attacks?
Also when the Beastiary states next to the attack option, "2 claws +3 (1d4+1)" does this mean two separate claw attacks using the full round attack option? Or one attack using two claws? Does the Giant Octopus on p.219 Beastiary 1 get 8 separate tentacle attacks using the full round attack action potentially grappling 8 different opponents within its' reach? Or is it one attack with 8 tentacles? The smaller octopus on p.219 has the multiattack feat but does not state 8 tentacles next to the melee attack section. With the multiattack feat can the small octopus attempt to grab 8 times on its' turn? Also in the attack sections next to melee is the creature able to use all attacks listed within commas (not when it states "or") when using the full round attack action? For instance the Elephant on p.128 Beastiary 1 states:
Melee gore +16 (2d8+10), slam +16(2d6+10)
Using the full round attack option can the Elephant gore and slam? Or is it one or the other. They are both primary attacks. Can you only use one primary attack at a time? If you use more than one primary natural attack do the attacks after the first become secondary?
Thanks for the help!
