Is there a way to search the products (whether APs, standalone adventures, PFS scenarios, etc) by which character level they're aimed at?

It would be great if there was a way I could filter results by Levels 1-4 or the like, rather than having to go individually through each product description.

Thanks,

If you have the PDF version of the Beginner box, it does come with a printable (non-form fillable), character sheet. However, it has a watermark that contains your e-mail address and full name. Don't know why they need to have a copyright security measure for a character sheet.

I also don't understand why they don't just have their character sheets freely available to download.

Ah, thanks. Unfortunately I only have the physical box version. I'm in the UK, so bought it from a local supplier and didn't order directly through the Paizo online shop in order to be able to add the PDF version. I guess I'll just stick to scanning the one that comes with the box and then printing from that!

The BB format character sheet is free to download on the Paizo Beginner Box page, except it's still the old format.

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone knows if there is a version of the 2024 blank characters sheets from the Beginner's Box available online? There are some changes in the layout, particularly for players using shields and adding tick boxes for dying/wounded conditions.

If I need to, I can just scan/photocopy one of the extra blanks that come in the box, but it would be great if there's already a PDF of this version of the BB character sheet available.

Thanks!

To add (or remove) more players, you can adjust the encounters.

Check the DMG or AoN about Encounter Design.

Basically your options are adding more creatures or adjusting the creatures, e.g. elite template. Usually the first is better.
Most encounters in the Beginner Box can be easily scaled, e.g. four kobolds become five.
The end encounter will be a bit more difficult to adjust, i would suggest to see how your group does until then and decide what to do with that knowledge, as it is quite dangerous as it is.

Thanks for the help, I really appreciate it.

I guess I'll just use the pre-gen characters that came with the box for four of the players and then the other one or two I'll use some of the other Level 1 pre-gens from Paizo (Feiya, Harsk, Lem, Lini) to make one on a character sheet that will match the other players. Or just double up on one or two of the pre-gens from the BB but flip a gender/ancestry.

[Edit: I didn't realise the other pre-gens were the other classes, like witch, bard, ranger, druid. I'll stick to creating two new characters with the limited BB options for consistency to start!]

I'll ask folks ahead of time if they have preferences for making their own vs playing pre-gens. It might be that our first session is going through character creation together!

The Beginner Box does not have any PFS introduction.

It does not teach everything (gasp), but a lot of concepts are introduced step by step.

Replacing animals should be easy enough, but there are things like a Cinder Rat, a rat-formed elemental.

Thanks! I might just lean into the 'elemental' thing then and reskin any other animal/animal-type monsters in a similar way, even if it's just with the descriptions I give out and I keep the stats the same for myself behind the screen (I don't want to throw a *huge* amount of effort in until I know if the group enjoys the setting and the system.)

Any thoughts on what's the best way to add extra players to the beginners box? I've ordered a copy and I'm looking forward to going through all the materials that come with it.

Hi all,

First time poster here and hoping for some advice based on experience!

I have a new home group starting, some with RPG experience, others with none. Because not everyone will be able to make it each month, I'd like to eventually run PFS scenarios so there's continuity, but it's okay if the group makeup is a little different each session.

I want to start with something like the Beginner's Box as I think it'll really help get everyone to feel comfortable being introduced to RPGS in general and Pathfinder rules for others. Unfortunately, I think even starting with Pre-Gen level 1s PFS characters and running something like First Steps will be too complicated for some, so I want a nice easy start.

I was wondering, before I buy the Beginner's Box, I already know I'll have to do some homebrew to adjust it as we will likely have more than four players for our first session; I know each character comes with a booklet, etc for the players - do you think I'd be okay just adding one or two characters of the same class and build just with different names/genders/etc for easiness of everyone learning? I can make extra tokens, etc as required no problem.

My other question is more about the adventure Menace Under Otari, and the follow-on early level scenarios. I know that I have one player at the table who isn't up for fighting animals/animal-type monsters in our games. I know for some GMs would be a huge hurdle and maybe a none-starter, but I'm willing to work around it (fighting sapient humanoids with motives is fine, but they're also interested in mysteries, puzzles, etc, which is why I love the idea of getting to them to First Steps/Quests and PFS more generally).

How difficult do you think it will be to adapt the Beginner's Box and early level follow-on scenarios to work for this type of table with non-animal combatants?

How quickly do you think I could transition my players to generating their own PFS characters and us playing some PFS quests/scenarios - do new players typically need more than just the Beginner's Box sessions? Does the Beginner's Box mention the PFS at all or is it just an intro to Pathfinder 2E more generally?

Thanks! I'm open to any and all advice and suggestions. :)
