Zok was always an idealistic youth, generally kind and gentle to his own people and extremely distrustful of the taller folk. He heard the stories of the prominence of his people in days of yore and longed to see them restored to their rightful place. He headed some raids of some human outposts and received a reputation for slaughtering guards and eating them, along with his fellow raiders. One outpost, they stayed too long to enjoy the feast and reinforcements arrived. They held out for some time but they were eventually overwhelmed.
Instead of killing Zok to be a martyr to his cause, the magistrate decided to punish him via slavery. Helping the very Sorcerer-King he despised to build an edifice to his greatness would be daily torture. He did find many amongst the slaves whom with he shared a common grievance against the tyranny and learned that not all people that were not halfings were his enemies. He also learned the full power of the Kingdoms of Man and he was grieved at the futility of his youthful ideals. Someday perhaps he could realize his ambition, but until then he would bide his time and find others who would aid him in his quest.
