![]() Zim's further along now.
Appearance/Persona:
Zimone is a tall, thick, brutish looking half-orc with a set of protruding lower tusks and light gray skin. In stark contrast to this, his manner, voice, and movements are always soft, and humble. He has pierceing green eyes that some find unsettling. Although extremely thoughtful, he keeps to himself, mostly out of respect for others. Zimone understands that his contenance, and inevitably tragic past upset people, so he compensates by presenting himself in a calm collected manner. Although very forgiving and understanding, Zimone stands firm when abused. Background:
Zimone's earliest memories are of his mother and grandfather, who raised him lovingly. They belonged to a merchant caravan that traveled the length and breadth of Avistan. When he was 13 years old the troupe fell prey to a terrible winter storm. Found by trappers on a hunting trip, he was brought to the town of (I don't care really) and eventually taken in by a cruel blacksmith named Melbin Cobblepot. Cobblepot worked Zim nearly to death, all the while presenting himself to the town as a charitable, kindhearted pillar of the community. Fate was fickle for Melbin however, for he was stricken blind, and lame with a strange disease that some say was a curse. Melbin feared Zimone would kill him for the abusive manner in which he had been treated, but Zimone was raised better than that. Not only did he care for and comfort Melbin, but he also turned the smithy into a prosperous business. Cobblepot grew to admire and respect Zimone, and was eventually cured of his strange ailments by a traveling cleric of Cayden Cailean. This wandering halfling priest was instantly attracted to Zimone, as was his partner Wendle Vonstofferson a prominent arcane professor of a respected Taldan academy of magecraft. Apparently Vonstofferson was on sebatical, trying to rid himself of a blistering anger he fostered for a rival colleague. During one of their fantastic duels his rival had compared his spellcraft to that of a frothing orc. Wendel felt meeting Zimone was more than just coincidence. The half-orc possessed a disturbingly keen intellect, one best suited for wizardry. His ability to learn was only exceeded by his capacity of understanding. Here was a "frothing orc" that could (with practice and training) cast circles around his rivals best students. Fascinated with magic from early childhood, Zimone humored Wendel, who he viewed as crazed, and obsessed. He mastered the draconic language in less than week. Within two months he was casting spells that Wendel had taken years to learn. He was truely the apprentice that Vonstofferson would need to crush and humiliate his rival. Zimone was clever though, and eventually got the halfling cleric to divulge the source of Wendel's obsession. He confronted his teacher, and after a heated arguement, followed by a lengthy sermon on the virtues of freedom, Zimone and Wendel parted ways. In the months to come Zimone trained 4 apprentices to run the smithy, and decided to leave (wherever) in hopes of exploring his newly found magical talents. You can view the rest on his profile page. Let me know either way. ![]()
![]() Since you asked for more arcane choices, I present Zim for review. Let me know and I'll flesh him out right away. Concept:
half-orc wizard universalist, bound item = greataxe, two-hand thrower HotA. topple spell/magic missle with improved trip by 9th lvl. Will craft arms and armor. Personality modled after Rakashun from 12 Kingdoms (humble, intelligent, self reliant, discriminated against, and yet forgiving) Background: Two dueling arcane professors exchange insults throughout their careers, with one telling the other "There are orcs with better casting technique than you sir!" Some months later, while on sebatical, the insulted wizard happens across an extremely intelligent, and good natured half-orc stable hand. Although his job was only to muck stalls and rub down horses, he was doubling as the stables accountant, and was turning a massive profit. The wizard offered to apprentice the half-orc, who at first refused, but later through circumstance relented and was trained. Although the wizard intended Zim to be nothing more than an elaborate comback to an insult, his good nature softened and humbled the wizard. When reminded about the reason for his apprenticeship Zim shrugs it off. He holds to the idea that the insult may have been true! |
