Zenna spends the hour discussing with her lawyer and assistant the details of her plan to help Samuel, then she gets off the phone and exits her car at the hospital, proceeding to the rendezvous point still herself, but prepared to let go of her identity to blend in if the need arises.
Female Human: Transcended Inactive
Not from me. When everyone is done asking questions, Zenna gives Samuel a smile and a hug, and makes sure that the help she offered is in place, and then bids him farewell. If you need to contact me again, just leave a message on that same site where I found you the first time. I'll make sure to keep an eye out.

Zenna signs his book "To Samuel, one of my greatest fans" and touches his hand lightly when she hands the book back to him. When he mentions wanting to get some money for the pills, Zenna explains that she will buy him meals and give him a place to stay for a while, and help with other things which I will roll for below, but explains that they can only give gifts to each other, since her lawyers told her she can't be involved in a drug deal. Female Human: Transcended Inactive
Samuel, do you mind if I take the USB drive and see what is on it? And maybe these pills that are on the table? They might help us figure this mystery out. ... Also, do you mind if I sign your book? She would like to do more for him after this, if there is a hotel/motel that he is willing to go to she will pay for it, and she will get him copies of more of her books to read, and even help him get a job if he is willing, or has a marketable skill. I can ask him about all of that during this conversation as needed, but wanted to include it here so that we don't just leave and dump him back on the street while chasing another lead.

Zenna has her publicist contact the homeless fan and offer to provide room and board during this difficult time in his life in return for his help, specifically any information he can offer about this recent crime and access to the "stash" for research purposes. (She makes sure that her lawyer looks it over to be sure she won't be accused of drug dealing or using.)
Female Human: Transcended Inactive
Zenna will work the case during her downtime. Primarily this will consist of looking into the background of each of the victims, and also trying to research (but not contact) this "Wizard," trying to ascertain whether he is just a drug dealer / criminal or whether he also seems to be associated with supernatural events. However, in addition, she will mention the second murder, in the alley, on her blog (seemingly in passing), mentioning how tragic such random violence is, and how we need to be better as a city. She feels like there is an off-chance with all her fans that someone will have more information about it and either post in the comments or attempt to contact her through her publisher.

Sorry about this, but life... I am moving to Texas next week, and won't be able to post for sure Monday-Thursday, and it just depends on what is going on whether I will be able to post the rest of the week. Hopefully will be back up and normal on Monday the 29th latest, since I start my new job that day, so things have to be resolved at least that much. Please bot me as needed.

That's interesting. The only way I can think of it being relevant though is if we're up against a superhero that gained power from or is associated with one of those ancient societies. Perhaps "Wizard" is such a being... a superhero as Luke suggested previously. Or, since he is a drug supplier, the term supervillain might be more appropriate. Maybe we should cast a wider net for similar murders, or look into this "Wizard" more, since that is who we were trying to track down when we witnessed this last murder. Or, we could return to the alleys of Saffron street, Goldenrod Lane, and the vicinity of the Starlight Strip where he was reported to do business. Since he theoretically has a loyal customer base, he may be continuing to work from that area, despite recent events. ... I know, they are thin threads, but it's all I can think of.

Since Wade already told them to leave rather than stepping in and handling it, when people start noticing them, Zenna figures she should leave. She shapeshifts into someone other than herself so as not to be recognized (Not too different, but just enough so that someone that thought they recognized her would realize it was only a resemblance), lets people get a couple of good shots of the random face, and then quickly moves in the direction the fleeing men went... not necessarily to catch up, but to see where they go in order to question them later. One was covered in blood, so she thinks she might be able to spot him if she moves fast enough.

Zenna adds Wade's findings to the white board so that everyone has access to the information. She also works on the new computer system to coordinate research, and works on her novel in the hideout during the downtime. Right now she is trying to track down who "Wizard" is, trying several different internet searches to see if anyone online has mentioned him. Investigate: 2d6 + 1 ⇒ (2, 5) + 1 = 8

Zenna tells Silas's boss that he quit before they return to base. When she gets there she is surprised to see her name on a placard attached to a phone, but smiles and takes it. She sits down in one of the new comfortable chairs and messes around with it a little, but when she realizes that it is just a phone, not a smartphone, she makes sure the ringer is on, and then pockets it and switches to her own phone.

My posting will be spotty between now and the 15th while I am moving. Packing up the truck today, and should be in Utah and able to post again consistently (hopefully) around then. Please bot me as needed. I might be able to post in the interim, but just not sure when, and can't guarantee it. Sorry.

Zenna responds to the hostess, flashing her a smile and saying Oh wow, it smells great in there. We're not actually here for the food though. Is the owner of the restaurant here? She hopes she will let them in without Wade flashing his badge, but isn't sure how likely it is.

Zenna strokes the man's hair, motioning people away with waves of her head and glares, each in turn, pleading with her eyes for privacy, and her eyebrows clearly threatening that something bad will happen if people get in the middle of this clearly personal moment. She considers disengaging before the man realizes that she isn't his lost loved one (guessing by his reaction), but she glances down the street at Wade, and instead tries to help their cause. She stays until he is able to look up, and when he discovers that it isn't who he thought, she says Sorry. I'm a psychic. Takes me over sometimes. I don't even remember what happened. Are you okay? ... Then to distract him from his own possible embarrassment, and just in case he vaguely recognizes her real face and starts to make the connection, she goes all business. I was actually in the area today working on an investigation. Do you know Mark Sapataro, and did you see him earlier today? After listening to whatever he has to say, good or bad, she looks to see if the Spanish girl is still around. If she is, she approaches her and asks her if she has seen Mark Sapataro. Whatever the answer, she gives her money to get a taxi and a room for the night as appreciation for the information. If the Uber driver is still there, she gives the girl an extra hundred to tip that woman, so she can take the rest of the night off. If questioned, she just gives the explanation "I'm a psychic." She likes this investigation thing. Makes it so much easier to help people when you have an excuse. Zenna, wondering if she can find something out (or at least help someone) while Wade is on the phone, holds up a finger to him, as if to say "I'll be right back." Instead of trying to direct her pull, she then opens herself up to the greatest need, focusing on hopefully teleporting the short distance into a shadow or unoccupied doorway so as not to scare anyone to death, and allowing her auto-chameleon shapeshifting to subtly change her facial features and skin tone to whatever will help the person feel most comfortable. It might change her more than that, but she is starting to understand that's part of being whoever she now is, and is willing to take the risk. Morgane's talk of justice and being needed sets Zenna thinking about what people might need in this situation, even though she doesn't know yet what the situation is. She steps back into the shelves so no one will see if she disappears, and closes her eyes, trying to sense the needs of the people around her and discern the ones that are the greatest. Using the Sense Need tag, though "glimpses of the needy," "need-based teleportation," and "need trumps will" could all come into play, depending on what she senses. She is basically opening herself up to the needs around her, and whether that just gives her a sense of the needs, or allows her to see something she wouldn't normally see, or whether it wrenches her to someplace else entirely is not really up to her, but to the greatest need that is pulling at her. Investigate: 2d6 + 1 ⇒ (2, 1) + 1 = 4 Zenna can't really sense anything at least immediately, so she walks closer to the window to see if she can spot any of her friends. |
