About Zelda Realmbridge

Born to a pair of Varisian wanderers, Zelda has been a curious girl almost from the outset. She wants to understand what motivates others, why they are the way they are, but often fails to do so. Her mother taught her fencing as a means of expressing herself, while her father encouraged her curiosity by procuring for her magical tomes that described the inherently connected energies of the planes. By the time she came of age, sadly, her parents were already quite old, in their mid-90s. They soon passed away, leaving her alone in the world, not quite feeling like an adult. She wandered aimlessly, passing north of Varisia and through New Thassilon, eventually finding herself in the Land of the Linnorm Kings. The vibrance of Grungir Forest intrigued her, and so, heedless of others' warnings, she entered, getting lost almost immediately. Her survival skills were terrible, as she'd spent her journey benefitting from the kindness of strangers.

She did find clean water, but knew not how to hunt or forage, and grew desperately hungry. In the midst of the worst of that desperation, she recalled some of the lore her father had provided her, and with her entire essence, called out to another plane, reaching out toward an alien mind, crying for help. After several hours, someone answered the call.

A beautiful creature reminiscent of a fey that Zelda knew as a Hesperid appeared before her. She introduced herself as Countess Teliria Perigee, an extraplanar creature known as an azata. She said she heard Zelda's cry while dueling a rival upon the Fields of Battle in Elysium, and felt compelled to abandon her honor to come to the aid of such a comely young woman.

The flattery, of course, went over Zelda's head, and she explained her plight: she'd gotten herself stuck in the half-fey wilderness of Grungir, and was on the verge of starvation. The countess replied that rescuing damsels in distress was her speciality, and so she gathered what food she could find, ostensibly saving the life of an eternally grateful Zelda.

After Zelda had eaten her fill, she and the azata spoke at length. Teliria revealed that she, like all azata, was made of the souls of kindly mortals mixed with the freeing energies of Elysium itself, and that made her form mutable, unlike Zelda's own. Zelda knew somewhat of this from her father's gifted texts, but was amazed to find such a creature before her, let alone that she'd been aided by one.

Ever the charmer (or so she believes), Teliria asked Zelda if she'd like to make their connection permanent--or, at least, as permanent as such things were for mortals--because she could, in her words, "never resist a pretty girl." Thinking that some companionship could be nice within the forest, Zelda agreed, solidifying the pair's bond. From that point, Teliria ceased to be a normal azata, instead becoming an eidolon--the bonded extraplanar entity called forth and shaped by a mortal with magical power called a summoner. This, of course, did greatly reduce Teliria's power, but she was content to endure that in order to grow closer to Zelda. Eventually, Zelda, though incredibly dense about such things, caught on to Teliria's romantic interest and decided that she would assent to the pair becoming a couple.

Eventually even the wild forest grew dull, and Zelda and her companion grudgingly returned to civilization. When in public, Teliria decided to disguise herself as a simple aasimar of elven descent, reasoning that her form's appearance did not differ overly much from an elven one. The couple went together to find a means to procure an invitation into the Pathfinder Society, a task which took many years until they reached success. Now, each with their own wayfinder as a badge--Teliria leaves hers with Zelda when she is forced to return to Elysium, along with all of her other material equipment--the two seek adventure. And, if they can bring joy and freedom to those suffering in the world, well, then that would be all the better.
