Special Abilities
Focused Study Gain a bonus skill focus feat at Level 1/8/16 (human)
Skilled Gain +1 skill point per level (human)
Studied Target (Ex) Zedd can study an opponent he can see as a move action. He then gains a +1 bonus on Bluff, Knowledge, Perception, Sense Motive, and Survival checks against that opponent, a +1 bonus on weapon attack and damage rolls against it, and a +1 bonus to DCs of Slayer class abilities against that opponent. Zedd can only maintain these bonuses against one opponent at a time; these bonuses remain in effect until either the opponent is dead or Zedd studies a new target. If Zedd deals sneak attack damage to a target, he can study that target as an immediate action, allowing him to apply his studied target bonuses against that target (including to the normal weapon damage roll).
Track (Ex) Zedd adds half his Slayer level (+1) to Survival checks made to follow tracks.
Slayer Talent Rogue Talent-- Combat Trick. Selection: Point-Blank Shot
Sneak Attack: +1d6 (Ex) If Zedd catches an opponent unable to defend itself effectively from his attack, he can strike a vital spot for extra damage. His attack deals extra damage anytime his target would be denied a Dexterity bonus to AC or when he flanks his target. Ranged attacks can count as sneak attacks only if the target is within 30 feet.

Background:

From as far back as he could remember, Zedd wanted to fly. Of course, no one would have bothered to ask him about it, and even if they had, he wouldn't have mentioned it. He always had a big brutish frame, and perma-scowl.

When you look like a thug, people tend to treat you that way, which generally entails nervous, suspicious stares and not much in the way of conversation. Being a loner at heart, that suited Zedd just fine.

When it came time for him to join the war effort, his eagerness wasn't much of a surprise to anyone, though his desire to be an aerman was. Still, he showed quite a bit of natural ability, and despite his lack of interaction with others on the ground, he was both willing and able to work as part of a team in a fighter squadron. His comrades found him a loyal ally, always willing to watch their backs, and having no qualms about taking a personal risk if it meant ensuring the safety of a wingman.

Zedd's promising military career took a tragic turn immediately following his (arguably) most successful mission. His squad was sent (unbeknownst to Zedd and his wingmen) as a diversionary force. Severely outnumbered and outgunned, they achieved their mission of distracting the enemy fighters deployed by a nearby cruiser, whilst a much larger flight of fighters took the virtually undefended enemy cruiser unawares.

Sadly, Zedd was the only survivor of his squadron. And after the battle, when the Commander who had devised the plan was trying to pin a medal on Zedd for "unwavering heroism and courage in the face of overwhelming adversity", all he could think about was watching his wingmen, his friends, getting swarmed and shot down one by one. And when he saw the Commander who had sent them to their deaths, with that smug smile on his face, medal in hand, Zedd snapped.

After "the incident" Aerman Zedd was now Private Infantryman Zedd. It was in this capacity that he met Callum Rhen. But that, is a story for another time.
