This white-haired, emerald-eyed elf grew up in the Fierani Forests with her hunter-gatherer parents and little brother. Life was hard on them as none of them were very strong or powerful, and therefore they felt the weight of self-sufficience more than most. Zabela's family nearly starved to death one winter, only surviving by the blessing of Gozreh through one of his followers: a wizard-educator who taught at the arcane university in the only nearby city.
Their family understandably began to worship the god, and Zabela persued magic as an answer to their struggle. She showed great promise eventually winning a student magician competition at the university.
When she returned, her family--though proud of her--believed it would insult Gozreh for her to use her knowledge of the arcane arts to help them find food. She argued with them until her little brother pleaded with her. He, being the youngest at the time, had suffered the most during that harsh winter, and so she promised him she wouldn't use magic. Later that year, however, it became apparent that without it, they would all starve yet again, so she broke that promise in spite of her mixed feelings.
