Okay I have a settled on a character. A warforged magus, who might eventually be a crafter of magic items(and maybe constructs) However to start I see him using a big iron frying pan as his weapon(what would the damage be for this? one i have in my house is between 4-6 pounds):P. Like I said I am unfamiliar with ebrreron so I might make the back story refect this. He was "raised" and altered by dwarves. He is a warforged with hair and a beard...Also will the eberron repair spells be in the magus list for your campaign. I will have his sheet up if picked.
Gimral Forgeheart:
background:
Gimral had a peaceful if lonely upbringing. Unknown to Gimral his dwarven "parents" were on the run from something and thus set of deep into the mountains to make a hidden home. He only ever seen his parents and some of the mountain side they lived. He know of the other races and a little of the world outside from the books his kept but little else. He has no memory of growing up, and he noticed he doesnt get tired or hungry like his parents. He was also a lot bigger then they were. When ever he pondered on these facts though his mind would get foggy. His father a experienced wizard and crafter and his mother an able warrior, he was taught in the ways of both finding a happy median between both. From his father he has learned a few spells. They spent every morning together, his father doing some sort of magic on his son saying it will make him "healthier". He took to magic well, he even learned to combine his magic with his fighting to try and gain an advantage against his experienced mother(he still lost). Their sparring matches would start civil but would eventually end with mother and son running through their home wrecking the place(all in good fun). Gimrals father took to making mechanical servants to clean up after them. His mothers fighting style often took to disarming her opponent, well Gimral learned to adapt, learning to pick random items around the house when ever he lost his weapon. As he grew he became increasingly more curious with world outside. Though he felt comfortable in their underground home as any dwarf should, he yearned to meet others, to see the grand things described in his fathers old tomes. However his parents would not let him nor tell him why, they feared for his safety. Unfortunately, Gimrals curiosity became to much, and it led him to rebellion. In the dead of night he set off out of his home and down the mountain, just going to the nearby village wouldn't hurt any, would it? It took him two days of travel but he eventually found a small human town. The young "dwarf" was in wonder at these new people. However the town did react well, they called him a freak, a weapon for war, they chased him out of the town. He stayed in the woods for a few days trying to think why they reacted that way. His mind raced each passing day the fog in his head started to clear, he soon realized he was not a dwarf, he returned home for answers. When he returned his life changed. His home was ransacked his parents gone. All the weapons, magical creations of his fathers, everything of value gone, including his parents. Gimral sat in grief and guilt for days, blaming himself, thinking by going to the he had led someone to his home. The guilt soon turned to rage, he gathered up some supplies including an large iron skillet he has used many times as a weapon and some notes and papers of his fathers he put together to function as a spellbook. Headed out to try and find who his parents were, who was after them and his own origins.
Sounds interesting(to note I have never played a PBP, I have also read some on eberon I am not fully familiar with it. Despite this I am really interested in playing, I haven't been able to play much with from where I, from(the wonders of living in Maine :/) I want to play a dwarf. I have a few ideas.
First is dwarven bard(yes I know it could be difficult to play/make) but after seeing the Hobbit trailer with all the dwarves singing I thought a dwarven story teller/historian singing his clans heritage in battle in deep rolling bass tone.
Another idea is an artificer who has a mechanical arm or something(I am playing with idea of him seeking to become like the war-forged but not committed to, I like the image of cyborg dwarf:P) this is only if you make a artificer, I hate the ToS one.
If the the Artificer isn't feasible I could make a Alchemist with a focus on bombs, why shovel when you can just blow the stone away? Of the three I dont know which idea I like the best and if chosen I can make it whatever the party needs.
I am flexible. If in need of a combat focus I have a old character concept of dwarven barb. I am indecisive sometimes so out of the mentioned ideas I will take advice on which would be the most fun/useful.
Description: Standing before you is a a short stocky man. Dressed in chainmail armor and with a white cloak over him he was a stern gaze with dark green eyes. He has long hair and an even longer beard of a dark brown color.
Background:
Deep within the mountains lived a great clan of dwarves. Toiling away under the mountain they forged great wonders, brew the best ales, a content and peaceful folk. That is untill one fateful day. Unknow to them, a force of trolls were gathered mysteriously under one banner discovered the hidden entrances to the clans stronghold. The dwarves fought valiently but since they had no time to prepare the clan was wiped out. Thanks to the efforts of his parents Otto was hidden away. He heard the screams of his kin the murderous laughs of the trolls. At one point he heard the slithering of a great beast through the tunnel with a roar that shook the mountain. For what seemed like days the dwarf heard the intuders ransacking his home. When was all quiet Otto left his hiding spot. The walls were decorated with the blood of his kin and anything of value had been stripped. He perform the burial rites the best he could for the bodys he could find and he made a choice. He would avenge his clan one, to hunt and destroy every troll he could find. Taking what supplys he could he left in search of his enemy. Tracking the filthy beasts. Finding one pair of tracks had seperated he followed. He was led to a icy cave. Walking in he found the beast fast asleep. Creeping in he drew his axe, as he raised it up high above his head, the troll awoke. Grasping the young dwarf high into the air Otto thought he was done for. Just as the troll was swinging for the killing blow, a few arrow struck him in the neck, causing it to drop the dwarf. Half concious, Otto witness in a green cloak fight the Giant. The man brought the beast down and soon made a pyre of the beasts body. The man then came over and have him aid to his injurys. The man was a ranger. Otto told him his story and pleaded the Man in the green cloak to train him. After years of learning about the ways of the wild Otto stuck out on his own, with a bit more wisdom this time, to hunt down his prey. Dropping his clan name He now calls himself Trolljegeren(troll hunter). As he search for signs of of trolls he ahs taken up the job of a mercenary to support himself.
I will have his stats later, what are rules for gold?
Sounds like fun(new to play by post though). I cant decide if I would rather be a dwarf barbarian or ranger(if barb a jolly guy who gets a little bit to much enjoyment out of bar fights. If ranger, a a troll hunter) or a draconic sorcerer(I would perfer red dragon but might not make much sense in the cold north, could be the linnorm wild blood) any opinions?
I am interested if there's room for me. As a side note I am new to rpgs and have never played a play by post, however I am familiar with the rules of pathfinder though not to much with anything else(such as setting). I was thinking of playing a flame oracle if this okay. I am right now in the process of a back story.
I am interested though I am never done a Pbp, If there is an opening I would like to play a oracle, probably having the flame mystery. I am thinking a gnome or human. I will look through the players guide and make up a character background to post. Right now I am thinking he will have been some sort of factory worker who got caught in a fire, his body becoming badly burned and scared(a somewhat re-flavoring of the wasting curse) Although the fire almost killed him, he felt something enter him, driving him to seek to bring warmth and comfort to the down trodden and seek fiery justice to the wicked!
