Yldaph Hartch was born an ordinary Thranian human. As a child, he loved the outdoors and the wild. Had he been magically inclined, he probably would have become a druid.
He fought for a few years at the end of the Last War. Thankfully he was near the Aundarian border when the Mourning occurred, and so was unharmed.
The Last War had significantly shaken Yldaph's support for the Silver Flame. While he did not doubt its power, he was disturbed by the enormous level of devastation its followers had caused during the War. He vocally opposed the strict hierarchy in the church of the Silver Flame. Perhaps it was just a bunch of corrupted officials, or perhaps the entire hierarchy should be disbanded, he claimed. He was discontent with how the church caused people to cluster in large cities, like Flamekeep. And he was unconvinced of the necessity of the Last War, nor was he sure he was on the right side (if there was a right side at all).
Inevitably, he fell out of favor with the church of the Silver Flame, and was sentenced to life imprisonment. Not content with his lot, Yldaph decided to flee the country. Unfortunately, he wasn't fast enough, and became surrounded by knights of the Silver Flame...
And then it happened. Somehow, Yldaph morphed into an Elan, and manifested psionic powers. By growing psychic claws, he was able to fight his way to safety.
Yldaph is unaware of why he was made an Elan. But whatever the reason, his new-found power has kindled a desire for revenge in his heart.
personality:
Yldaph is generally kind natured and amicable. Having been cast out of his native country, he tries his best not to make anyone else feel alienated. However, he often hangs on to his grudges for far too long.
