My friend has an Oracle with the Powerless Prophecy curse. Does this keep him from gaining the level 7 Warsight Revalation power? Powerless Prophecy: You are forewarned of danger but can't act to prevent it. You gain uncanny dodge, as the rogue class feature. However, you can't take any actions in a surprise round, including free actions, except for flash of insight (see Revelations below). In the absence of a surprise round, you are staggered for the entire first round of combat. War Sight (Su): Whenever you roll for initiative, you can roll twice and take either result. At 7th level, you can always act in the surprise round, but if you fail to notice the ambush, you act last, regardless of your initiative result (you act in the normal order in following rounds). At 11th level, you can roll for initiative three times and take any one of the results.
I have a Gulch Gunner Gunslinger who just got the powder burns archetype at level 3. Paizo PRD wrote: Powder Burns (Ex): At 3rd level, the gulch gunner learns to maximize the damage dealt by a firearm at extremely close range. When the gulch gunner successfully hits an adjacent foe with a ranged firearm attack, she may spend 1 grit point to deal an additional 1d6 points of fire damage from the muzzle flash of her weapon. The target must also make a Reflex save (DC 10 + 1/2 the gulch gunner's level + the gulch gunner's Wisdom modifier) or catch on fire. This deed replaces the pistol whip deed. With the archetype, I'm getting grit points every turn and I am using it on this. My save DC is 14 (10+1 Level+3 Wis Mod). I'm too wrapped up in Gunslinger Feat taxes to get Ability Focus right now, but I want to increase the DC. Is there an item or trait I can retrain to increase the DC?
I have a Demon Spawn Tiefling I was looking to do a Bloodrager Natural Attack Build with. When I was making it in Herolab I was told that I can't replace the Shatter SLA ability because it was already replaced in the Heritage change. Does using a different heritage block replacement of an alternative racial trait? Herolab says it does.
Hey Guys, I was interested in playing a Ratfolk Gunslinger for an AP my GM is running. The character creation rules are a little wonky and I wanted to try an experimental build. Essentially the idea is to be tanky enough that hypothetically I would rarely get hit by AoOs. The main issue is feats. I took Armor Expert to reduce possible Any advice on this build? Is taking Gun Tank for the Shield Proficiency worth losing the bonus feat? Should I not take rapid reload and spend crazy money on paper cartridges? Pt. Buy: 32 (I was shocked)
HP: 12 AC: 21
Feats :(
Hey, I'm messing around with the Kineticist on Herolab, possibly playing it instead of an Alchemist on Saturday. I have a few rule questions. 1) Kinetic Healing: If you use gather power as a move action and then touch an ally, do you take burn/hit die or is it just the ally that would? Is this an infinite mitigated heal by gather power if you don't move? Occult Adventures wrote:
2) Shroud of Water: With the Water AC Armor/Shield ability, can you wear armor with this? Does your Armor/Water Armor AC/Water Shield AC stack? 3) Pushing Infusion: Can you choose the direction they are pushed by directing the blast? IE: Shoot behind them so they come towards you/Shoot to the left of them to push them right?
Hey Everyone, I am starting Way of the Wicked and I made a sacred fist warpriest. We must worship Asmodeus. This lowers my Blessings choice. My GM gave us an array because he was sick of min maxing. I plan on building a little tanky in the beginning, but want to pick up the Pummeling Style/Charge feats. We got 2 feats starting with a flaw (Purple Duck Games) I am invisible to all unintelligent undead and I do +2 damage to anything that can't see me. I plan on getting a weapon to throw as a swift action through ferver with the minor magic blessing and then doing a full action Charge. Anything I'm missing? Anything I should consider? Asher
Traits: Shadow Stabber, Reactionary Stats: GM Custom Array (17 15 14 14 13 13) AC 18 (16 Touch 16 Flatfooted) STR 17 (+2)
1) Warpriest 1 Armor of the Pit, (Flaw Feat) Fiendish Heritage
The idea behind the Conduit came from the notion that there weren't enough brave Melee Touch Spellcasters, chargers, or anyone who cared about Bullrush or Overrun. This style of gameplay was to encourage charging and spell casting together as a mechanic and forgo weapon fighting. Rather than giving the Conduit boosts to concentration checks while Spell casting defensively I wanted to give it an AC boost so that the true risk factor of your enemy is a fun, but thrilling threat. A Conduit takes the AoO, doesn't get hit and then blasts a spell right in it's enemies' face. I still have a lot of work to do, adding all the Touch Spells that are a part of the Conduit's Spell List. I want to double the amount of 1st level spells, but I just haven't had time to do such a thing. Hopefully when I get it all finished it will have it's own spell list. I am planning on giving it Divine and Arcane spells because it can only do Melee Touch Spells. The basis is that the spell must come from melee touch. Let me know what you think. I would love feedback on this Class idea. Is it too powerful? Is it too weak? What could I change to fill out this class? Are there any errors? I want to hear what you think.
Hey everyone. I'm moving to the Eastside of the Seattle area and would love to find a game close by. I already GM a RotRL game on Saturdays, but I would love to play in a game as well. My work schedule is 9-5 in Federal Way, so I'd need something in the evenings on Friday or Sunday preferably. I just picked up the Advanced Class Guide and want to try out new builds from that. GMs willing to let me try the book I bought would be awesome. I also like APs.
I'm looking to make a Wild Child Brawler from the ACG. Cavaliers and Monks are my favorite classes so I wanted to make a cool Martial Combo. I'm looking to teach my Animal Companion to Flank ASAP to mitigate my brawler flurry (-2/-2). I will use Unarmed Strike (Maybe get a tonfa). I'm building this for a possible future campaign because my party I DM will finish RotRL soon. Any advice to make this build more efficient? What feat should my AC get? Better AC? Good class dip? Ill - Human Wild Child 1 (Lose All Bonus Feats; Close Weapon Mastery)
Stats (20 Pt. Buy Human)
Originally had 14 Con 10 mental stats, but I wanted a higher Handle Animal. Any suggestions/convincing of dumpstats welcome. AC 16 HP 12 (+2 Dex/Chain Shirt) Attack
Feats down the line 1 - Power Attack, Undersized Mount (Dat med mount)
Hunter Tricks
Javan - Rhinocerous 1 AC 16 HP 15
I can't take power attack at level 1, so I wonder what a good level 1 feat for a medium riding animal would be. Level 1 Feat - ???
My monk just reached level 11 and has a bunch of gold. I have enough (and more) to up my +1 temple sword to a +3 weapon. What I'm more interested in is the Ki Focus/Ki Intensifying bonus. My monk is a Drunken Master the Four Winds. He has elemental fist instead of Stunning Fist. Does this allow me to make elemental fist attacks with my Temple Sword? I would assume it would because you can do stunning fist, but I want to check my bases before I make a purchase.
Hello all! I am looking for a replacement player for my ongoing Rise of the Runelords Campaign. We're already at level 7. You can pick any class, but I am looking for someone who would prefer to play an arcane spellcasting class. Party
When: Saturdays
Character Creation
PM me for more specific details. Next game is this Saturday.
So, I made a Warpriest in Hero lab. The Defender of the Society trait came up as selectable, thus I did it. A GM is telling me that I can't select the trait since Warpriests aren't technically fighters. Are combo classes able to select traits that they are a part of the class for? Are you allowed to take fighter traits as a Warpriest? I looked in the Field Guide and Adv. Playtest Class Guide, but can't find anything on this.
I am running The Cyphermage Dilemma on the 20th of March at 5PM PST (GMT -8) Description
How to Sign Up
I just turned level 2 on my monk and I was looking at level 3. Level 3 drunken master archetype monk get 1 point of drunken ki when they take a drink. I also have the Honored Fist of the Society trait. It doesn't really specify if the drunken ki bonuses proc the bonus from the Honored Fist trait. I'd just rather know before I get this guy to level 3. Thanks!
Hey everyone. I'm currently running RotRL for a group that seems to love dying. Only one character even has his original from the first story. I've killed off 2 characters of the same player in one session. Apparently they like my GM style because they keep coming back for more. The issue is that I just ran Thistletop last session. The PCs attracted the attention of Bruthamus, Orik, and the 2 yeth hounds after they wrapped Lyrie in Manacles and dragged her across the floor, singing songs of their greatness. This ended in a near TPK after everyone, including Shalelu failed their fear will saves. Somehow, half the party barely survived. Shalelu is dead, most of the level 1 floor is dead besides Tentamort, and the alarms were raised. The PCs high-tailed it out of Thistletop after the fight and are regrouping. Questions 1) Any ideas on what to do with Shalelu dead? Has anyone had her die before?
My friends and I finally switched our DM position to another one of us and he said he would start doing a lot of one-off campaigns (Since we can't meet every week). He later told us that he and his GF wanted to start running some PFS games and were looking into how to run something like that. I personally don't like going to Cons (Smell, unhealthy food, smell), but since my friends were interested in starting a PFS campaign, I went along. My friends knew that when we started the campaign, I wanted to be a Wayang Cavalier for the longest time (talking about it for weeks), since I had never played Cavalier and didn't want to be a halfling or human. I had told my friend I had never done PFS before. When I found out today that Boons are keeping me from a Wayang, even though I own the Advanced Race Guide, I was pissed. I feel it's pretty hypocritical that there are PFS staff who are against selling boons on Ebay, yet I am pay walled from using content I already paid for in a game. What moral dilemma would I have if I owned a boon that I won selling it? The boon is my product. If races are allowed in a type of game, they should be open to everyone. I don't mind that people aren't allowed equality in skill boost boons, but if they already own the Paizo products, keeping them from their paid product is double pay to win and have fun. Sure, I could play a non-legal character and not get any credit from Paizo, but that would just hurt my rule-loving friend. Now, either I'm the jerk that leaves the group because he won't play within the rules or my friend is a jerk for pushing PFS rules that don't work for us. That's not ok. It's ruining Pathfinder for me. I've never been so disappointed since trying 4E DnD.
The Cavalier Solution: Wayangs Azothath wrote: It's an old zen saying; no matter wayang you go, thereang you are." - Azothath: Nov 29, 2012, 07:56 PM This saying feels well matched with the idea of a Cavalier charging on a horse. I recently looked at the Cavalier class in the Advanced Players Guide. It looked like a lot of fun. Orders that help boost roleplaying, teamwork feats, and mounted combat. After seeing this, I knew the class was for me. I was set out to create a Cavalier and looked for posts on the best way to make one. Time and time again I saw people talk about how lame Cavaliers are because Medium ones were useless in dungeons and small weren't up to par. Not anymore. I will go over the Cavalier issues and provide an adequate solution that will make you and your DM want to have Cavaliers in a game. Cavalier Inherent Fun Problems A poster named Sir Dante, a few years ago, made a post on 5 reasons why being a Cavalier was so daunting and terrible to make. He laid out the innate problems with the class that weren't class based, but actually Pathfinder based. Sir Dante wrote: As such, ask your DM before playing a Cavalier: are there going to be a lot of standard dungeon-crawling adventures, or will the game take place mostly above ground, in natural settings? Why must we question a DM whether we get to have fun? What is the point of playing a game of Pathfinder if there is no fun? Combat rolls? Nah. Sir Dante wrote: If the game is 100% dungeon crawling, I suggest picking a different class. Paladin or fighter are good choices, which can carry a lot of the same theme and feel, without forcing you to focus on being mounted... I want to focus on a mount. I want to feel the power of a being on a horse. Sir Dante wrote: Even so, I suggest a small character, as medium mounts can go places that large ones can't. -2 to strength? No thanks! Cavaliers are frontline badasses. Sir Dante wrote:
If I wanted to play a fighter I'd play a fighter (Specifically OP archer fighters). Sir Dante wrote: If the game is mostly on the surface, outdoors, then the Cavalier can really shine! Mounted Combat, Ride-By Attack, Trample, and Spirited Charge, ASAP. A Spirited Charge + your Challenge ability = horrifying damage. Add in Power Attack if/when you can..." Great, my enjoyability of the class depends on if I am caged by walls or not. The Human is obviously the best class for a Cavalier (And basically every class). You get the +2 to strength, The extra feat for early mount success, and those extra skill points sure aren't bad either. Just as with every other class, the human uses the Cavalier to its fullest potential. The only problem is size. You can't fit your horse here. You can't turn your horse there. Why can a fighter bring a greatsword, around 47 inches (Essentially 2 mediums in one space), into a dungeon easily without clacking it on the walls (-4 to stealth or something), but a cavalier can't squeeze his horse in a dungeon? I call BS. Until this clearly under appreciated mechanical error is corrected (Like monks not being awesome with Shuriken), I propose a solution. Wayangs What is a Wayang? Only the most adorable shadow puppet you've ever met! They're based off of Indonesian Folklore. They're shadow people that are afraid of humans. They are generally on the neutral side, so you don't have to worry about being an awkward evil goblin type. Also they might poop gold. So cute! Dang that's an adorable Wayang. Check out Munget, my badass min-maxed Egotistical Emu Riding Wayang Cavalier. Sure, he doesn't get the extra human bonus feat or any cool special favored class bonus, but he gets the job done well. This is an example of the Order of the Cockatrice. You can obviously change the order (Dragonbro) if you like more support. With Wayangs needing high Charisma for shadow spells and cavaliers for team feats and order abilities, you can obviously change the stats to what you need. It works out for whatever. Cavalier build you are doing. I believe Cavaliers need strength first, which is why Wayangs are so important, but you can choose whatever you like. Wisdom is a dump stat IMO for Cavaliers, so don't worry about it. I've gambled worse when drunk in Vegas than I have with a low will score in Pathfinder and woke up with $8,000 profit and no idea how. Low will isn't much worse of a gamble IMO. Get at least +1 Charisma so you can take Broken Wing Gambit (Like I said, gambler) for hilarious AoO opportunities ;). The only skill you really need is ride, bluff, and handle animal, so don't worry about Intelligence. You get +2 anyways. I believe this build makes the Cavalier up to par with classes like Paladins and Non-human fighters, but not Wizards. Sure, it may be missing that human bonus feat, but it still packs a punch. Feel free to look it over and give any suggestions on to how better improve the Wayang Cavalier. Everyone should make an egotistical/helpful emu-riding Wayang, so it becomes the norm. This will help bolster the idea that Cavaliers deserve to be up on the top A list classes. Cool strategy: Step 1: Use Wayang Ventriloquism spell to lure enemies to a new location before combat
Easily Subdued complications But they're Empire content. You don't mix Eastern and Western influences in a game. It's too weird! Racist! (JK) Part of the fun of creating a world is mixing influences and if necessary, skinning them to your world. That's why things like anachronisms exist. Also, there have to be at least a few immigrant Wayangs in the standard Pathfinder world. Like Chinese workers in California and whatnot. They're OP! Ok, shadow magic/level 1 invis alternate may be a little OP for most people. Even I was kinda meh on keeping that when putting on my DM hat. You can always consult your DM. Just say that they never learned shadow magic because they were exiled by the Wayang Elders for contacting humans. Other than that, no trait is really that much different than a Halfling in execution besides the energy one (Which is situation). Halflings are what people should be using for small Cavaliers anyways for standard only races. Wayang stats (+2 dex, +2 Int, -2 Cha) are necessary to take away the inheirent problems of small level cavs. This brings them up to par with a non human medium sized Cav IMO, which is pretty cool. If your DM says no to Wayangs Cavaliers anyways, their game isn't worth playing in. Wayang Cavaliers are the way of the future! People will be inherently scared of them in the Pathfinder world! Wayangs are neutral by nature. If anything, they shouldn't get any worse reaction than Half-Orcs. With a high enough Charisma (Which Support Cavs need) and bluff, a Wayang could even seduce a 16 Charisma halfling beauty (Man or woman) in the right light (Dark Light) for some intimacy on its mount. The right player makes the right Wayang. You don't have to worship Lau Shu Po. If you're interacting with humans and reject your Wayang tribe culture, you probably aren't anyways. Remember kids, Egotistical/Brotistical Emu-Riding Wayang Cavaliers are the new hot thing that not only bring you hilarity, but also amazing usefulness! |
