I'm really sorry to hear about your health issues, ZF. It's amazing that you've been able to contribute as much as you have, for as long as you have! I'm not sure if chronic fatigue is something you can recover from, but if it is, I wish you a speedy recovery. In any case, thank you for running this game. It's been great to see what you came up with both as a GM in this game and as a player in others. I wish you all the best!

I hope you can have a happy holiday, and that the new year brings you better fortune.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to the rest of you as well. It's been fun!

Xvark nodded to Marko, as he had seen other four-limbs do in the affirmative, but he didn't elaborate. Time enough to do so when the Thranx weren't listening. He understood that they were very literal and emotionless beings, but that didn't preclude them from taking offense.

Xvark sat down on K'Don's broad shoulder, dangling little feet. "Going okay with me. You?" He looked at K'Don, Marko and the young, dangerous hoo-man with depthless eyes.

Oops, forgot!

Does he, ZF?

Xvark didn't like the proposal - once they were on the ship, how could they refuse the task if they didn't like it? - but he could see the four-limbs were intent on going, so he shrugged and rode K'Don's shoulder as they approached the ship. He took in the ship's lines and form with dark eyes; what sort of ship was it? A lifepod, maybe?

Not fully trusting the Thranx, Xvark was nonetheless too curious to let such an opportunity pass.

"You hear about us from [grinding noise suggesting the centipede-aliens]? What you need help with?" All the while, he was eyeing the ship. Oh, to fly a real ship again!

Sorry for the wait, my internet went down yesterday. I have suffered, SUFFERED I say, until now.

K'Don: If you mean the image in his profile, yeah, that's pretty much him. Little red jumpsuit and all.

Unable to control his curiosity, Xvark waved two of his arms (while hanging onto K'Don with the other two) to gain the insects' attention.

"Who sent you? Where you from? Why you help here?"

"Ginjo bingapa!" Xvark hopped up and down, pointing, as though there was any chance of the others looking anywhere else.

In an eyeblink, he scampered up K'Don's body to his broad shoulders, where he had a better view. "Crystals there?" he asked. He glanced upwards mistrustfully.

I would enjoy that, I think.

"Remember," Xvark agreed, squinting at the passing scenery in search of a good spot to hide their vehicle. After a bit of discussion, he allowed that it might not be the best place high in a tree or in a cave that might be owned by a grizzly.

"There?" he asked, pointing one of his little arms at a gully with a windfall.

Nice description, Marko!
Xvark is taking WindDancer speaking (more or less) totally in stride. Of course little winged beings speak on this planet. It would be weird if they didn't! (Next: Xvark doesn't understand why dogs and cats won't answer him. Rude!)

Determined to learn to pilot the little airship, Xvark does his best to learn from Marko. So strange that it doesn't have the controls he is used to! He can't even find a gravitic dampener anywhere.

He is a bit subdued around Connor, though whether this is due to guilt over the death of Alex, or because he saw Connor make another alien explode, is not clear. He does try to make friends with the other humans they meet, grinning at them and offering hugs. He is somewhat confused when one of the pioneers they meet screams and hits him with a broom.

K'Don doesn't appear to want any hugs, either. Maybe Xvark should reconsider his greetings... The big orc smells determined. What is he so focused on? This requires attention.

Argh, stupid forums keep going down.
Shouldn't that be with his Piloting skill? Same dice, but it's good to know going forward.

Smarts: 1d6 ⇒ 3
Wild: 1d6 ⇒ 2

Oh, great.

Sorry for my longer-than-expected hiatus. I don't think Xvark has done much besides listen and observe with interest everything everyone does. He does offer to pilot the flying vehicle, though.

Devouring his allotted provisions with gusto (and much smacking), Xvark paused with his mouth full to look at WindDancer - his ears and antennae swiveled her way, as well.

"If she goes, how does she find us again? We stay here?" he asked with his mouth full, dribbling bits of food.

Apologies if the party actually brought up their situation in front of Xvark before and I forgot - I don't have the time to check back right now.

Xvark remained quiet, his ears twitching at each person who spoke. This was the first he had heard of their troubles, but he didn't appear too upset to have landed in the midst of them. Perhaps it was still a step up from whatever had been awaiting him in the other aliens' care.

His stubby tail waggled whenever anyone looked his way, and his antennae bobbed as he picked up... whatever his antennae picked up.

Xvark, who had been watching Arabella and Marco carefully, now popped out of the back of the cart and grinned at the guard. "Bapa gun disu!"

Oh, okay. I guess I'll go with the Super Power of Darksight, then. And the Charismatic Edge.

To Xvark "So, Xvark, what skills are you good at? Need to know what we can count on you to do."

That is a really good question. Since Arabella is leaving, and ZF said I could retool Xvark's arcane background a little bit since he's brand new, I'm thinking of picking up some weird science, so we don't lose the crystal use angle. I'm still laid out flat with work, though, so I haven't had a chance to look at anything. All my games are suffering from that four-letter word, work!

Please assume that Xvark answers something to that effect (the weird science, not the work), and I'll make an attempt to bust the work down for this weekend.

Also, in week 43 (19th-25th, for you non-week-numbering nationalities), I'm going to be extra busy and likely unable to post at all. Please bot Xvark as needed until I can resurface. Thanks, and sorry for the wait!

Still flat... sorry for the lull. Haven't had a chance to look at advancements yet.

Sorry, I've been flattened by work this week. I'll take a look at the advancements ASAP. Xvark has no preference for what they do in town, as long as it involves eating lots of interesting new food.

ZF: No, I meant for taking a Weird Science background. Although, maybe Super Powers would be more interesting for this character.

I looked at the section on backgrounds, but it doesn't say if there's a requirement to getting one. Do you just say you're taking one when you make the character, and then take the necessary skill? I don't understand. :P

Xvark's ears perked again as he viewed the orb turning before them. Turning to regard the others, he said, "I am grateful if you take me along. I would be interested to see your world, anywhere you choose to go. Maybe I can aid with the crystals in your devices." He squinted sidelong at the 'pedes, though it wasn't likely they would object, with the tech level below so low compared to theirs.

"And blow up your enemies!" he added after a moment, with a wide grin.

If Arabella is leaving, maybe Xvark can pick up some of her weird science portfolio next levelup. Is there a skill or something I need for that? Maybe I could tweak them now?

I'm sorry to see you go. You've been a driving force behind this game, and Arabella was an interesting character.

Good luck with your new game!

Xvark listens intently to Marko, sitting near him as he waits for the pedes to be done with their work. He tries to explain what his job was, and why he is innocent of the pedes' charges, but keeps getting tangled in unknown words (and seems reluctant to talk around the pedes anyway, narrowing his eyes at them and grumbling as he stuffs his hands in his red jumpsuit).

He picks up human words from Marko very quickly, though, and has an animated (if limited) conversation with him, mainly consisting of new words and gestures.

Pointing at each of the others and then himself and then xvark extending an additonal finger as he points to each one, the making a circling motion with his fingers and then putting both hands together making a slow shaking motion, as if to say all together.

Xvark cocked it's head like a dog, huge ears perked. Its antennae vibrated in Marko's direction. It glanced at Arabella - or maybe her strange gun? When the party moved to leave, it dropped to all six and scuttled after them, staying at a discreet distance from Alex's body.

Xvark cautiously reached out with one of his four hands to briefly touch Marko's extended hand. Its large bulbous nose sniffed at the man, and it blinked, pointing at Marko, then each of the others.

"Bingama suku tik hoon?"

Xvark will go along with the party peacefully, staying on the floor.

Startled by K'Don's ferocious roar, the little alien zipped about on the ceiling on all six stubby legs, yelling, "Rikut Xvark babar gulagug!"

Finally making a sudden stop at the far end of the room, Xvark's small chest heaved, and its tongue rolled out to dangle towards the floor as it panted. Blinking at the others, it scuttled down the wall and over to where Validus lay. Before anyone could react, it blew a long raspberry at the downed alien, rising back onto two feet to give it a kick, then backed away and cocked its head at everyone.

"Xvark mukt. Xvaaaark," it said, its huge black eyes fathomless, and its antennae and enormous ears pointed at them. It pointed to itself with a clawed hand, then back at them. Its ears drooped back as it blinked at what was left of Alex.

Zipping about to dodge the flying leftovers of Ror, the little blue alien zoomed up the wall and onto the ceiling, waving its four arms frantically. "Bingoden tapa alumesh! Rikut! Rikut!"

It peered at Connor with wide black eyes, chest heaving and enormous ears swiveling in all directions. "Rikut! Xvark gudoguk!"
