Background:
Xutal was adopted by the Vhiski family when he was a baby. A strange one even then as babies do not have two small black feathers attached to their backs along with black and silver hair. How this came about and who held him before, were known only to his adoptive parents who took that knowledge to the grave before he even grew to manhood. His eldest brother went off to make his own way while his second eldest brother and older brother came under the care of a family friend along with himself. Xutal grew wild and was ever a cause of playful trouble. Or so it seemed, for at the young age of 15 Xutal left a note for his family. It read that while he cared deeply for them, he felt he needed room to grow and would travel the world. At first it seemed just another game but as hours turned into days they knew his words to be true. It was not until a full month had passed before a letter arrived from Korvosa, Xutal had found a ship to Cheliax. It mostly contained his musings on the land of devils. So came letters from many places around the inner sea for years until they suddenly stopped after little more then four years. The last letter having come from Jalmeray, during his visit to the kingdom of the impossible his life changed. Having borne witness to the monks from the houses of perfection Xutal wanted to know more. Jalmeray having no short supply of knowledge on anything much less their own gave him everything he could have wished on the subjects he sought. This in turn brought him to the worship of Irori. It was not long after that he took the test to enter one of the houses of perfection. While he did not pass these test he in fact showed enough promise to be pointed towards a number of lesser schools. It was during this time that he was approached by a man with painted eyes and lips, he invited Xutal to see his school for himself. Xutal thought nothing of it and accepted, he was amazed by the abilities of the students. Quick silent and precise movements, when he asked why such a school was not among the three houses. The man, known as Master Mahri, simply said he did not allow public displays of their skills or the need to prove their worth in tournaments and such unlike the other schools. Xutal found that a wise answer he had yet to hear from any of the other schools. Not long after he was training in the Shadow Lotus school, during this time he learned both from his school and the teaches of Irori to control his wild nature and embrace discipline. Shortly after he met Fira Wei, an enchanting half tian half vudrani sorcereress, whom he would fall for and share a home with. For nearly a year he had all that he could ask for, his training was going well and he was in love with a good woman. Or so he thought until he discovered the truth about the two things that mattered most to him at that time. For Niswan was in an up roar on the day Xutal was out among the streets, he quickly learned the cause was the destruction of a hidden temple outside the city at the hand of adventures. This temple was said to be a den of evil, Xutal for his part felt such a place deserved destruction until it was known who these evil doer's were. Counted among their number and slain by the adventurers was none other then Fira Wei, his beloved, upon inquires the details of her death were learned by Xutal. For the first time in his life he felt empty, not even anger held his heart. Only a numbing pull, using the skills he had learned from his training he found the adventurer's inn. Yet he was not alone that night, other shadows like himself moved about the alleyways and roof tops. Xutal followed in secret and watched without a sound as the adventurer's were killed to a man by the silent masked killers. They retrieved but a single item, which he never saw as he was thrown down from his hiding place into a near by roof. Allowing his training to take over he found his enemy using not only the same unarmed fighting style but the very same forms. Yet his enemy was far more advanced then him, with in moments he was on his back with the masked man above him. Yet the deathblow never came as the mask was removed. It was Master Mahri who held a dark look of vague interest upon him. Striking Xutal in the heart he whispered "Leave this island as we will. If you do not you will die in five days. If you ever come across me or my clan again. Prove yourself, otherwise we will kill you. If you teach our ways to another, they will die as will all of your family." with that Xutal was knocked out. When he awoke he was in his home with a small bag of gold and a journal upon his chest. But the true surprise was the pain he felt on his back, shoulders, and arms. Upon seeing his reflection he noticed his upper body covered in bandages, removing them he found detailed black tattoo's were placed on him. From both his forearms up to his shoulders and down his entire back. Xutal heeded his former master's warning, on the fifth day he nearly blacked out from a loss of strength and pain. But recovered with in the hour from whatever strange power had been laid on him. Still with the events and unanswered questions he grew bitter and spiteful, on the lonely and long road these feelings only grew stronger and darker. Soon Xutal was employing his skills as a free lance enforcer and assassin. While he kept mostly to the edges of the underworld he was none the less known to be highly effective and bound to his word. A series of jobs soon brought him to the land of the linnorm kings from there to riddleport. Having grown tired of the road, his anger, and his profession he felt it was time to go home. He sought out his family, considering if they even thought of him as family. To his surprise, they took him in with open arms despite a flare in temper at his lack of letters and method of leaving. Xutal became a caravan guard and scout for his brother Sandru, finding the work to be good for his soul. Still he has not forgotten the past or his desire to become more then what he is. The tattoo's on his body a constant reminder. Appearance:
Xutal is in supreme physical condition, lean and well porportioned. If it were not for his midnight black wings, matching chin length wild hair with natural silver highlights, and golden eyes with sharp featured face. He could pass for a physically flawless human man. Which is often his intention as he keeps his unuseable wings tucked tightly under his clothes. Upon his fore head he wears a silver bandana with black trim, around his neck he wears a necklace of large polished brown beads with runes inscribed on them, metal pauldrons with black fur trim on his shoulders atop a sleeveless black robe, decorated with silver trim and a silver serpentine dragon design is tied around the waist with a brown sash, atop the sash a forest green cord is tied with a gourd hanging from it. Matching large black and silver pantaloons tucked into shin high well worn pointed black boots with silver trim complete his preferred outfit. |
