Toughness taken to try and overcome my awful HP rolls. Level up done. Must say, this is the most undergeared i've ever been as a 3rd level character.

Xantrius continued to seek an opening, and with a cry of victory he seemed to have thought he found it. He and his images hacked his sawtooth sabre into the tentacle, but it proved far too tough to pierce it easily.

I will not be denied! Xantrius shouted at the tentacles in frustration as he spurred himself on, repeating his downward strike.

Timely Inspiration on myself as immediate action. +1 to hit retroactively.

Xantrius stepped up to make his own attack...

Xantrius and his images confidently began to inspire courage in the hearts of his comrades and himself, facing down the tentacled beast fearlessly.

Thank you, Sevien. I concur; an excellent proposal. I believe I should be able to manage... Once the items of value had been gathered up, Xantrius flourished the wand expertly and produced his own set of images.

Mata, Nakon, kindly lead the charge. These wretched scum will not be the last to fall to our might and magic the captain promised, exchanging his saber for his metallic whip and taking up a second rank position.

We'll have time to strip them of gear later. Do a quick sweep for anything magical and lets move on and keep searching for our missing crew.

Gah! Back with you, filthy sea goblins! Xantrius cried out in response to his multiple stab wounds from the tiny spears, slicing the throat of one of his attackers with a well placed slash.

Xantrius' underwater fighting penalties are halved from his trait.

If these foul things have Sandara, we'll get her back. A fine blow, Nakon! Keep it up Sevien!

Xantrius will Inspire Courage on his initiative.

Keep Sevien covered lads... This small room will make the best of his... talents.

Also suggest perhaps delaying until after Xantrius' action if you want Inspire Courage.

Showing no sign of hesitation, Xantrius led his band north-east. His rationale for the fairly arbitrary decision was that a smaller cavern would be a more likely prison.

His flag was held in one hand and his sabre in the other.

I'm sure they'll know we're en route. We'll go in loud and save the day; if Sandara is still alive...

If these are Tiny creatures, they have no reach and thus provoke AOO by entering Xantrius' square. Obviously this won't prevent the damage (as the first one uses up Xantrius' only AOO) but i'd like to retcon it in if they are tiny as I suspect.

Xantrius slashed at the thing on his shoulder with disgust as he sought to get it off him.

Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

If damage kills it, Xantrius will hold his ground. Otherwise he will duck underwater ten feet or so for his move.

Xantrius continued to climb down the wall, seeking to jump into teh water when a moment presented itself.

I am not losing our ship's main healer on our maiden voyage he muttered stubbornly, drawing his sabre.

Take 10 Climb, unless hes already low enough to land safely in the water. Drawing sabre during movement.

I am a competent swimmer. I see little need to wait for low tide. I am sick and tired of delays. Lets press on. We are pirates. I'll not fear the water.

Captain Xantrius moved to the edge and sought to climb down the wall, lowering himself into the water in search of the Grindylows. Once in the water, he unsheathed his sabre.

Climb: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16

I don't know about the rest of you but I am glad to escaped that encounter alive...ghouls are some nasty business. Do we continue or rest? I think everyone is hurt now and we have no healing...

We will not rest while our companion's fates remain uncertain. Mata, lead the way to this creature. Describe it as best you can and lets be off immediately. Sandara is an asset to our crew and i'll not abandon her.

Brandishing his sabre, Xantrius swung aggressively, seeking to add his own wounds to the thing.

Xantrius entered with sword brandished, crying fury as he laid into the thing- almost dropping his sabre with a clumsy swing.

Just noticed Xantrius is pretty much still working with starting gear.

Mata, slip out of it dammit! Xantrius commanded irritably. The magic infused within the command compelled Mata to redouble his efforts but alas, the vine's grip was too tight.

Liberating Command as swift action. Fails, sadly.

Mata Escape Artist (Dex penalty): 1d20 + 4 + 0 ⇒ (3) + 4 + 0 = 7

Miffed that his command did not work, Xantrius urged his comrades to greater efforts, bolstering their efforts, while stepping a little behind Mata.

Inspire Courage.

Not willing to allow his lieutenants to be taken unawares without him nearby, Captain Xantrius followed suit, moving in close formation.

Continue on, officers.

Evidently having something of a crisis of faith about his own swordsmanship despite dozens of prior successes in battle, Captain Casmirre urged on his comrades (and himself) with magical oratory.

Come now, another carapaced creature thwarting us?! I say nay, sirs!

Xantrius continued to have trouble landing a blow, despite his best efforts.

Xantrius positioned himself beside Nakon and with flag raised in one hand, he brought down his saber in an enthusiastic overhead slash with the other. His enthusiasm did little to help his poor aim though, and he lost his footing slightly as he failed to land the blow.

Would recommend rolling group perception, as long as you have the time to make the longer update it speeds game up and I don't think anyone minds :).

Xantrius strapped the crab to Mata's back with rope.

Maybe it'll deflect a blow or two if we run into trouble... he jested.

Why so down Sevien, we just secured rations for a week or more! Xantrius exclaimed with glee. He became a little more sombre as he placed a hand on Sevien's shoulder and addressed him.

Jests aside, I understand your concerns. We'll need Mata and Gorilla-arms here in ship-shape condition if we get into another fight. See to their wounds, First Officer.

grappled creatures can take no action that requires two hands to perform.

One of those times when using a two-handed weapon works against you.

Xantrius raised his sabre one-handed and brought it down upon one of the crabs with a great deal of force behind it.

Didn't read the spell completely (posted in a rush) and added the +4 to his CMB, rather than Escape Artist.

Hey, gorilla-arms; snap out of it hmm? Xantrius quipped at Nakon, his voice carrying more than mere authority and charm, but a small hint of his magic, and accompanied by a signature wink and smirk.

Immediate action (on Xantrius' action as could not have done it before he came up in initiative): Nakon CMB at +9 total-

Liberating Command CMB (on behalf of Nakon): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (17) + 9 = 26

His enforcer freed up, Xantrius waved his ever-present flag enthusiastically and took a moment to draw his sabre, moving into the fight with Nakon's crab as he heartily cried out;

Quick-quick, finish off our crewmen's lunch sharp-like, savvy?

Inspire Courage and Flagbearer active.

Xantrius nodded assent.

Excellent work all... Xantrius said to the assembled crew after the feat. You have done well; I think a day of rest will be quite the thing tomorrow for you all, while I lead a team ashore to seek our missing crew. Maintain a vigil, however; we don't know what threats the land and sea in this strange place might have for us.

Xantrius would be inclined to hope that we could pick up the trail once more. Sevien's idea will be our backup idea in case we're not able to.

Xantrius assisted, using his Mending cantrip to help with the repairs.

None of that matters if we don't have a ship to sail, Sevien... How long do we think it will take to get the boat on land? The crew will understand- that we are putting their needs before two who may already be dead. We can resume the search as soon as we're done.

I think we have to make landing the ship our top priority. The tracks will keep, I hope. Spreading around the hammock is a fine idea. We'll explore and send another rescue party once we've got her on land for repairs.
