Marshall and Lucas: As Xander and Lucas make their way to unload the food Xander feels like he should clarify, "I don't want violence, but I do think we should try to get the people of Ashland to take care of their leadership problem. It would be good for the people to see justice served as well."

Xander looks down at his feet for a second before starting to talk again. Can't really fault them... God, I hate this Alan fiddlesticker. "I can't blame you guys, and I'm not saying you should forgive everyone in Ashland. I'm just saying the way people are gonna survive is not with constantly killing one another. I think that Ashland needs a regime change, and that the those responsible for hurting others need to be brought to some sense of justice. *If* that can be managed then the good folk of both communities can work to mutual benefit. After relaying Trivia's info about the voodoo, Xander addresses Arthur loudly enough to be heard by most if not all the others, "In our brief time in Ashland we found that the people are scared. There's a man that is little more than a thug has used that to get them to do things they wouldn't normally do. I'm not saying it's right, but I am saying that if we can tackle whatever is plaguing this area we might get everyone going down a better path."

While attending to some of the odds and ends for settling in for the night Xander wants to know what was going on with Jenkins earlier. "I know digging up a body isn't exactly something that should be considered normal, but you seemed a little off when Trivia was seeing to the lady. Anything going on we should be concerned about?"

Xander opens the back window of the truck and sticks his head in the cab to talk. "Alan's got this town cowed with fear, but the guys I was talking to seem to see that there's some sense in getting the town back into trading, since, y'know, food. Alan's a thug, and if we play this right we might be able to get the town to try him as such." "Anyway, where are we going and where's Jenkins?" After being caught up on the goings on, Xander makes sure to keep an eye out for trouble while Trivia finds one of the slaughtered animals. Notice: 1d8 ⇒ 61d6 ⇒ 2

I understand that people will do stupid things when they’re afraid, but dagnabit, this shoots goshdarn ridiculous! ”Well, we’re actually here by the bidding of Junkyard. It’s been awhile since the people there have heard anything from this region, and some people got concerned, and…” Xander pauses half a moment. This is exactly what I trained for… If we’re ever going to see the Union restored it’s going to be with hearts and minds more than anything else. ”…and now here we are, the embodiment of that concern, sent to find out what can be done to help. More recently, though, just come up by way of a town in California. We found some good folk there…” ”Anyway, aren’t there any grumblings about this so-called plan of Alan’s? Seems to me he’s condemned you all to a slow, hungry death,” Xander makes no effort to hide his disdain. ”You’d have a better chance if you went back to trading. Y’know, being a part of the world.” After a moment Xander decides it’s high time to see what they others are up to, ”I should be getting back to my friends. But hey, that town we just came from… Might be good to trade with. Help get you guys back on your feet.”

"Here let me help you guys," Xander says to people seeing to the kid. The proceedings are pretty somber, but Xander tries to make some small talk and find out some things about the town. "I saw the sign about quarantine as we were rolling up. People still getting sick? Oh, and from some of the mumbling I heard, sounds like people are hard up for food. What do you guys do to survive out here? You guys trade with any other towns at all?" Streetwise: 1d4 ⇒ 11d6 ⇒ 5

I'm not going to be able to hold up that body in any way that is dignifying to the poor kid. Xander just motions to the truck bed instead, and calls out, "Yeah, the people that did this to this boy need to held accountable. Before we see to that, we'd like to make sure that he gets his proper respects. If he's one of yours, we'd appreciate your help in that." Persuasion: 1d6 ⇒ 51d6 ⇒ 5

Xander has always favored being careful, strategic, but in his time since waking up in this hell he's about as trusting of these situations as an abused animal. As soon as he heard "ambush" he took up a defensive posture with his rifle, making use of the cab's roof as a stable platform. He doesn't like using his rifle if he can avoid it, but if someone is watching they probably won't find his bow as intimidating. He tries to spot anything his companions may have missed indicating hostiles nearby. Notice: 1d8 ⇒ 41d6 ⇒ 2

Character background for going to hipster central: Similar to Trivia, Xander hasn't been awake all that long. His rude awakening, however, came at the hands of those with a broken moral compass. They used and abused his cache of goodies, which is also an accurate description of their treatment of him. This went on for about a month or so until a fella by the name of Lucas brought his slavers to something resembling justice. Since that time he's been a near constant companion to Lucas. Their goals, while not the same, are similarly aligned, and upon hearing Dovac's plan Xander became excited for the first time since waking. He's now truly embarking on something akin to his purpose.

Sorry that I've been AWOL. I'm starting to get a little concerned about these headaches I've been getting. Past couple o' days I've either be laid out with a headache or catching up on my online classes. Tests:
Hopefully, I'll have amazing rolls on here since y'all seem to be sucking, and maybe balance some karmic scale for my rolls everywhere else. |
