I’m currently playing through my first Pathfinder campaign (first real rpg campaign period) and I’m pretty sure my character’s going to die this Wednesday. I’m not terribly unhappy about this – I built him before I knew what I was doing, and playing a Cleric that does nothing but heal is getting old.

So, I’m looking for advice on a new character. The party could really use a spellcaster (Fighter, Ninja, Gunslinger, and my Cleric currently), so my first instinct was Wizard or Sorcerer. My group has a running joke about a Demon Dragon that may or may not be following us, so I want to build a Demon Dragon Sorcerer. But there are a lot of options, and the drawback on Crossblooded is pretty extreme, so I’m worried I may make an ineffective character. I already have a very flavorful, rather ineffective character, I don’t want another.

The restrictions are:

1. The character has to be plausibly descended from a Demon Dragon. Close is good enough – it can be any type of demon or dragon, and he doesn’t have to cast based on both bloodlines. That is, a Tiefling Draconic Sorcerer would work.
2. Characters in this campaign tend to be poor, so I’d rather not be heavily gear dependent.
3. The character will either start on level 6 or 7.
4. He’ll have to be at least moderately skilled at interacting with people.
5. I’ll have to roll the ability scores there, so I can’t plan for them exactly. Advice on what to focus on is welcome.

The DM’s very flexible about rules, so I can probably use a Tiefling (with the Infernal Bastard trait), or both Crossblooded and Wildblooded. Any Pathfinder rules are fair game. Thanks in advance!

First Attempt:

Spoiler:

Human (+2 Cha)
Sorcerer Alternate Trait
Crossblooded: Fire Linnorm / Brutal
Bloodline Abilities: Elemental Spit, Demon Resistances (Wings at 9th, Added Summons at 15th, Power of Wyrms at 20th)
Feats: Eschew Materials (free), Combat Casting, Spell Focus (Conjuration), Iron Will, Extend Spell, Augmented Summoning (bonus)
Spells: Haven’t decided exactly, but the bonus ones would be Mage Armor, Resist Energy and Fly.

The idea is to back up the rest of the party. They already deal plenty of damage, but they can’t see invisible things, they can get swarmed by enemies, etc. I’d focus on utility spells, flying around and being invisible, and summoning. I took Linnorm so I can deal damage if I run out of spells, and Brutal so I could get some sort of wings and Added Summoning.
