So I'm not horribly experienced in Pathfinder, but I am part of group. We are doing a PVP where I have to make a level 12 samurai. Should I go sword saint with a focus on intimidate and maybe sunder or is there something better for a build.
No, that's pretty much what you should do. Depending on your flavor preference you might even want to consider playing a Kensai Magus(essentially a spell casting samurai), since they are all about Iaijutsu too but resolve the concept in entirely different ways. Both have their good points
Sword Saint
-Conditional ability with good damage & okay debuffs
-Good Atk & damage
-Great durability from Resolve
-Neat Tanking ability
Kensai
-Great damage with spells
-Great AC
-Great initiative
-Okay Atk & good Dmg without spells.
Both are viable to play in a game, and both pretty much capture that kind of feel. If you're part of a group it will come down to which role you're supposed to be. IF you're the "fighter" in the group, go Samurai Sword Sain. If you're group is short(or high if you're fighting your group) on magic, or you're just supposed to be a damage dealer a Kensai Magus will be better at that.
If you go Samurai, go power attack & take advantage of the fact you get fighter feats. Sunder & Intimidation is good, but with your challenge dmg(you do your level in extra damage) you should just go nuts with maximizing your damage & atk strength(since I don't think it extends to the sunder).
I should have mentioned we are taking out arcane classes specfically. But there are druids so it helps to know my weaknesses. I should have said that but I simply forgot. I will be the fighter of the party though. Our team leader just pointed out that their was nothing that really crippled the other team on my build ( I did have dazzling display, he said shaken is ok). I will remember your advice on kensai magus though.
