APPEARANCE

An octopus in a mobile tank, with a curved shell design so it doesn't lose all of its water if knocked around.
It's a convenient design for a creature with enough arms to anchor herself, work the wheels, and hold her weapon while still having one left over for the occasional smack.

From her bow flies a wide streamer emblazoned with the Glyph of the Open Road, the emblem of the Pathfinder Society, encircled by a cute cartoon octopus. Wimsy painted it herself.

BACKGROUND

Wimsy was once a performing animal, a part of a traveling circus and trained by a druid who specialized in marine life. But there are places in the world where magic gets weird, and after repeated exposure she eventually began to change.

The awakened Wimsy was not an especially gifted performer. An animal performance is in many ways really the trainer's performance. It's all about getting the animal to do things in a coordinated fashion, on command. It's less interesting for someone who can speak the language and help plan the act to do those things.
There are awakened animal performers whose bag of tricks includes impersonating (depersonating?) normal animals, but that also requires being a skilled actor.

Wimsy found other work in the circus, though--logistics. She found she was exceptionally gifted in coordinating performers, support staff, and supplies. Making arrangements, planning, handling paperwork and permits, she excelled.
And when, eventually, she moved on, she joined the Pathfinder Society for a change to see even more of the world, to travel to places the circus never had. And she found those skills served her well.
