Background
William was born on a farm, to a couple of goats. He would have probably spent his life blissfully eating things, making little goats, occasionally being scolded for eating the wrong thing and having to fight other billy-goats, and maybe being sheared a few times, if not for one thing.
One day, she had to come along and ask William's owner what the aggressive, all-eating animals in his yard were. The next thing you know, she did something that caused William's brain to go 'Wonk!' and filled it up with weird ideas. Like, the idea that he had ideas about things.
It was very 'Wonk!'
Sometimes, William curses the fate that made him Familiar to Valai Darkrune. Other times, he blesses it. Having ideas and having to travel is not the kind of life he envisioned for himself, but it is sometimes... interesting. And now he can get away with headbutting people, and his boss actually compliments him for it. Sometimes.
Also, there are more strange things to eat out in the world than there were at the farm. Things probably balance out somewhat.
