Melburnian GM looking for 4-6 players to play in a homebrew using adapted version of the Fate Rules (for a quick reference see Spirit of the century RPG SRD which also uses Fate) The reason for this is that character creation options are almost infinite. The game itself will incorporate magic, steamwork/clockwork technology. I would like for players to feel they can make any type of character that they want and fate makes that possible while still being balanced.
Setting:
The era is reminiscent of the 1300s but with no trade routes, alliances, wars or any sort of international politics (as people don't travel its too dangerous). Players will start in a city which has a population of about 80,000 Humans (this is absolutely huge compared to other city-nations) and some farming villages around it. This would be the closest thing to a nation and there are other city-nations out there somewhere...
The city (with villages) is self suffeceint and as such its citezens do not travel (why trade relative comfort for the unknow wilderness... There could be ANYTHING out there!) Some modern day technology will be in this game (represented as magical clockwork) but restricted to the city-nation that it was developed in. The world will be Earth and the starting city will (naturaly) be Melbourne in terms of geographical location only. Player race will be human only.
This is still very much a fantasy setting. I don't want to elaborate much PCs will just have to find out for themselves.
The whole point of the setting is to create a very open and explorable planet with multiple story options and as much choice/little restrictions as possible.
Where: Melbourne CBD (I know some good places) or possibly even my place (3143 area)
When: Send me your availability and I'll be try to work something out that works for everyone.
The game will run as long as there are people who want to play.
on a side note I may be willing to run this as a D&D 3.5 game if players strongly object to the fate system. If you are unsure about the Fate system but interested please email me your concerns.
