Melburnian GM looking for 4-6 players to play in a homebrew using adapted version of the Fate Rules (for a quick reference see Spirit of the century RPG SRD which also uses Fate) The reason for this is that character creation options are almost infinite. The game itself will incorporate magic, steamwork/clockwork technology. I would like for players to feel they can make any type of character that they want and fate makes that possible while still being balanced.

Setting:
The era is reminiscent of the 1300s but with no trade routes, alliances, wars or any sort of international politics (as people don't travel its too dangerous). Players will start in a city which has a population of about 80,000 Humans (this is absolutely huge compared to other city-nations) and some farming villages around it. This would be the closest thing to a nation and there are other city-nations out there somewhere...

The city (with villages) is self suffeceint and as such its citezens do not travel (why trade relative comfort for the unknow wilderness... There could be ANYTHING out there!) Some modern day technology will be in this game (represented as magical clockwork) but restricted to the city-nation that it was developed in. The world will be Earth and the starting city will (naturaly) be Melbourne in terms of geographical location only. Player race will be human only.

This is still very much a fantasy setting. I don't want to elaborate much PCs will just have to find out for themselves.

The whole point of the setting is to create a very open and explorable planet with multiple story options and as much choice/little restrictions as possible.

Where: Melbourne CBD (I know some good places) or possibly even my place (3143 area)
When: Send me your availability and I'll be try to work something out that works for everyone.

The game will run as long as there are people who want to play.

on a side note I may be willing to run this as a D&D 3.5 game if players strongly object to the fate system. If you are unsure about the Fate system but interested please email me your concerns.

If interested or you have questions please contact me at louiskarp @ gmail dot com

Cheers!

Black Tom i dont think you have mentioned alignment at all

is there a possibility we would be able to play evil characters?

(here's hoping for an evil cleric or druid)

put me down for the Citadel group if there is still room.

thinking rogue or monk.

Please put me down if anyone drops out.

I Don't mind what i play.

I have a bunch of pre-made lvl 1s of various classes i could use :D

and i post frequently.

M

can i have this?

Spoiler:

New Feat: Monkey Grip

You are able to use a larger weapon than other people your size.

Prerequisite: Base attack bonus +1.

Benefit: You can use melee weapons one size category larger than you are with a -2 penalty on the attack roll, but the amount of effort it takes you to use the weapon does not change. For instance, a Large longsword (a one-handed weapon for a Large creature) is considered a two-handed weapon for a Medium creature that does not have this feat. For a Medium creature that has this feat, it is still considered a one-handed weapon. You can wield a larger light weapon as a light weapon, or a larger two-handed weapon in two hands. You cannot wield a larger weapon in your off hand, and you cannot use this feat with a double weapon.

Normal: You can use a melee weapon one size category larger than you are with a -2 penalty on the attack roll, and the amount of effort it takes to use the weapon increases. A larger light weapon is considered a one-handed weapon, a larger one-handed weapon is considered a two-handed weapon, and you cannot use a larger two-handed weapon at all.

Found Here.

or in the book "complete warrior"

Hi guys,

I've i'd like to fill a spot in your game.

bout me: havent played a 3.5 game in about a year, havent played a PBP in about 1.5 years. looking to start again. i'm pretty good with all the rules, I have a decent character concept, thinking maybe a human barbarian (i think rogue and cleric might need some muscle).

only thing i'm bit shady on is what you guys use for your rolls? & what books i can use for character creation ?(complete warrior, complete scoundrel, complete adventurer etc)

Lemme know if you'll have me and are happy with the class choice and i'll start working on something right away.
