Spending the bulk of his adolescence searching for his long-lost biological father, Vyncent would otherwise use his time studying encyclopaedies, texts, and historical books. His mind worked unlike those of his friends, and he was able to absorb information just by reading it once.
During his studies, he learned of the planar realms, and began praying to Saranae for answers. These realms were unknown places to him, and his fascination grew to desperation. As he knelt at a fountain daily in the Varisian town of Magnimar, he asked for guidance and wisdom.
Days past, weeks past, and months past. His prayers seemed to go unanswered. As he stood up to leave the fountain on a bright summer's day, he opened his eyes, and realized he was no longer in Magnimar, but rather, he was seeing the spirit world.
Vyncent later became addicted to paper. That is, he would always have to have some sort of tome with him to get his fix. It wasn't rare to see him opening a dusty book just to take in the smell of an ancient text, or even crumpling up a piece and chewing on it before spitting it out.
Needless to say, Vyncent never was popular with his friends or with women. A bit of a loner, he decided to join the Society to work on what he viewed as his one weakness, and to perhaps offer his extensive array of knowledge to other Pathfinders.
