Appearance
--------------------
Vodu's cosmic singularity is held in a minimal mounting of three short prongs, leaving the entire upper half of it exposed and naked. Vodu's framing is of a particularly dark wood of the Screaming Jungle. It has been described as "obsidian-like."
The mounting places its "orb" where one would expect a head, atop broad shoulders which reside over dark wood chest plates: two halves on top and four quadrants of lower torso. Gangly legs sprout downward, and primary arms outward. At its back is a basket-pack as deep as the torso, which holds a variety of useful possessions. A vague halo of small-to-tiny, withering arms outlines its back where the basket-pack rests. These are vestiges of prior forms taken before arriving at its current, humanoid shape.

Background
--------------------
Vodu emerged in the Screaming Jungle, at the mouth of a tributary from Lake Ocota. As it gathered darkwood to construct a suitable form, a hunting party of massive gorillas happened to be passing by and so it took its initial inspiration from their shapes. They watched in awe as the wood gathered in a familiar form: perhaps they hoped for the return of fallen friend or family. However, once the face failed to form, they protested loudly and storm off. And so too, did Vodu move on.
It did not come into being with a clear purpose, but have a vague understanding of its origin from cosmic forces. There is recognition of a bound Pleroma, but no clear name. There are others like it, though they didn't emerge in the same persistent way. While they are bound to the same aeon, they've taken varied dominion from which to contribute different knowledge, wisdom, and energy: one from fire and stone, another from the fey First World, and so on. They "visit" from time to time, speaking through Vodu's cosmic singularity or even "borrowing" its vessel briefly to experience the world as it does. In its time in the jungle it has come to know several of these which give it glimpses into different parts of realities.
Continuing along the tributary it discovers Kibwe. It was as hesitant to make contact as Kibwe's citizens were of its "alien" presence. After a short period, when its presence had generated enough stir, a group of older iruxi priests approach it with more understanding and less suspicion than others. Progress is made in communication and, on establishing its goal of discovery and learning, is directed to the Pathfinder Society in Absalom.
On this voyage it finds time to continue evolving its form, making it to conform to these more intelligent creatures who seem to be able to answer questions.
