Sorry everyone. Circumstances changed at my work. Several resources that were assigned to my project were moved to other projects this week. I've found myself with very little time to update games as I have to cover more of the tasks. I've been focusing what time I have on the games that are closer to completion to get them finished, but as this one has just started, I haven't had time to participate. I'm going to have to withdraw as I doubt I'll be able to contribute regularly going forward as I expect my workload to be heavy through the rest of the year.

Vine: The module specifically calls out the journey to Karpad taking "several weeks", so you are good to load up. How do you track which ones are going to expire when?

Also, what is the "Fermented Fruit" listed in your resource tracker?

Fermented Fruit is from the bacchanal skald archetype. I need to keep track of those separately as I also have a wand of goodberry should I need to create more.

I get goodberry twice per day as a spell-like ability, once from the archetype and once from the grapevine alternate leshy trait.

The archetype adds the spell to my spells known. Going on the assumption that I use all but 1 available slot of each level before resting for the night, that give me 6 more castings, for a total of 8 each day that will produce 16d4 goodberries.

If nothing happens on the road, I should arrive with 80d4 (average 200) goodberries with roughly 40 expiring each day.

Here.

Sounds like there is still a lot of travel written into the adventure. So I do plan on making all the goodberries we'd probably ever want along the way.

"Well, since we will be traveling together, let me give you a little something to use in case your feeling a bit... off."

He hands each of you an appropriately sized hip flask.

"Just a little sip of wine. I made it myself. But if you aren't feeling quite up to snuff, just listen to my song and have yourself a sip."

S is a skald. If you are under the effects of his raging song, you gain the Good for What Ails You rage power.

Regarding travel time it brings up a rather silly buff for my character.

I not only have goodberry as a spell like ability twice per day, but due to my archetype (bacchanal) it becomes an additional known spell for me.

Generally my protocol is to use any remaining first level slots before resting for the night.

This means I could potentially cast it 7 times per day for 14d4 goodberries.

But since there duration is 1/day per level I could have a conceivable stockpile 5 days worth, or 70d4. The oldest ones would of course expire over the course of the 5th day.

Any encounters on the road might change the number in the stockpile, but by the time we reach our destination I should have enough to go around. Probably more than we can all use for healing, but I have other uses for them too.

If nothing happens on the road I could just roll the 70d4 and have that as my stockpile for the module.

'S' leans over to the bartender.

"I make my own wine. How about I leave you some and if you like it, you can order a few bottles to sell here."

Turning back to the others.

"As long as I have enough coin to get by, I'm happy."

The vine leshy stares longingly at the bottom of his empty mug.

"But having a story to tell afterwards is the real reward, so I'd be happy to go with you."

What you initially thought was a potted plant in the corner lifts its head. It slowly adjusts its gaze, squinting, as if it is having trouble seeing straight. Turns out the plant is potted all right, just not in the way you were expecting.

Having rushed to the bar the moment it opened, it was enjoying the local libations for quite a while before it decided to take a nap.

It hops down from its stool in the corner of the room and stumbles over to the rest of the group. It speaks, a slight slur in its voice.

"Hey. Are you the other Pathfinders? I guess I got bored waiting for you and took a nap. I'm called the Vine of the People's Resolve, but you can call me 'S'. You wanna know why you can call me 'S'? Well, it's a really long story, so I'm gonna have to tell you later."

The leshy reaches into a pouch and counts the number of goodberries he made today.

Vine gets goodberry as a spell-like ability twice per day.

Allies who choose to be affected gain a +2 morale bonus to Strength and Constitution and a +2 morale bonus on Will saving throws, but also take a –1 penalty to AC. While under the effects of inspired rage, allies other than the skald cannot use any Charisma-, Dexterity-, or Intelligence-based skills (except Acrobatics, Fly, Intimidate, and Ride) or any ability that requires patience or concentration.

Sorry if my previous comment wasn't clear. S actually has Sylvan, not Hallit. The character sheet was incorrect. He actually can't have Hallit without spending a rank in Linguistics. If I was a half-human or human race I could, but not as a leshy.

Drunken Dancer:
At 2nd level, while maintaining a raging song, a bacchanal can consume a berry affected by goodberry, a potion, or a serving of alcohol as a move action that does not provoke attacks of opportunity. A berry affected by goodberry or a potion has its normal effect, while an alcoholic drink or a berry affected by goodberry via fermented fruit (see above) allows the skald to maintain his raging song that round without expending a round of raging song for the day (instead of the normal effects of the alcohol or fermented berry). For each alcoholic drink or fermented berry consumed while raging, the skald is nauseated for 1 round after his raging song ends. The internal fortitude rage power prevents this nauseated condition from occurring.

Well S was going for a more subtle approach, letting her know they were here and seeing how she reacted, but I guess that works.

The little leshy saunters up to Toral and Armaline.

"Why hello there. Nice to meet you. You can call me S. Do you know why I'm called 'S'? Well..."

After his long explanation he concludes:

"So tell me about yourself. I'm always interested in hearing a new tale. Perhaps a sip would help lighten the mood."

S holds up his bottle of wine offering some of it to Armaline.

S was tentative at first. Hopefully none of them were...

Since they didn't seem to be moving of their own accord. After a few moments he grabs something he can use as a carving too and attempts to carve...

the Glyph of the Open Road.

As he does so he whistles a tune, which sounds a lot like the March of Liberty.

Since nothing happened along the way that will be 4 sets of morning castings (2 each) and 4 sets of evening castings (4 each) currently unexpired. That's 24 total castings active for 48d4 goodberries.

Pile o' goodberries: 48d4 ⇒ (4, 1, 4, 1, 4, 4, 3, 3, 4, 4, 3, 3, 4, 3, 1, 1, 3, 4, 3, 3, 4, 4, 3, 3, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2, 1, 4, 1, 3, 4, 1, 1, 3, 2, 3, 4, 3, 2, 2, 4, 4, 2, 4, 3) = 135

S has been handing out his goodberries along the trip so you each have a small pile.

Each of you can have 24 goodberries, which is 3 days worth since you can only benefit from 8 per day). I'll keep the last 63 for myself for now, which is probably way more than I even need.

"Just don't gorge yourself on 'em. Each of those grapes is as potent as a whole glass of wine." (The goodberries I create are fermented. Instead of a meal's nourishment, they each count as a serving of alcohol.)

"If you'd like something a little more... liquid in your refreshment take this." (He offers each of you a hip flask filled with wine.)

"By the way, if you feel a little not quite right and my singing is inspiring you, drinking something potent may make you feel like yourself again."

If you accept my raging song, you gain the good for what ails you rage power.

"As I said, I was created and lived in Galt most of my life. Rosehaven wasn't too far from where my vineyards were. What you've heard about Galt is at least somewhat truth. The people there were well-meaning but too easily swayed by the mob. They did horrible things in the name of their ideals. A close friend on Moonday could be the one pulling the lever on the Final Blade by Fireday. Who knows how long it would have been before I faced that fate if the Society hadn't rescued me. It would have only taken one bad harvest."

"We can only try to deliver the message to Armeline but we cannot make her listen. Forgiveness, if possible, is on her time."

GM, since there will be travel time, we'll need to discuss the traveling goodberries. I'll be using my SLAs every day as well as most of my leftover spell slots at night to make more. Do you want me to roll for all of them or just take the average (5 per casting). Since I'm not sure how long the trip is and I also won't know if there are any encounters on the way, I'll have to line everything up by time so I always have a current count, but I can manage that.

A creature that appears to be nothing more than a tangle of grapevines staggers up to the table. His form is squeezed into an agile breastplate made of gleaming mithril. A rapier is sheathed at one hip into a scabbard attached at a broad leather belt. Wand and scroll tubes are tucked into bandoliers across his chest. In one hand he carries a tattered battle flag of the nation of Galt and in his other a bottle of wine. Several iron flasks hang from his belt and one adorns his neck.

He introduces himself with a bit of a slur to his words.

"Hello everyone my name is... well you can call me 'S' or 'Agent S' if you prefer something more formal. Why 'S'? Well, that's a bit of a long tale so... so I'd better get to it. It started a long time ago. You see the druid that created me never gave me a name. My creator was hired by a noble, he was... You know what? I always forget his name. He had a manor somewhere near some hills by a river. That's about all I can remember. I was made as a servant to tend his vineyard. But then one day the mobs came for him, and they burned his manor to the ground after looting it. Some of them were going to burn it first but I heard some of the other set him straight about the order of things. When they finished with the manor they were going to do the same to the vineyard. But I convinced them that instead of burning it up I could tend the vineyard for them and make them wine and they wouldn't have to do nothing or pay me anything. And thank the Lucky Drunk that they liked to drink. They told me all about their drinking god and they even gave me some of the wine that I made. They were nice people but a bit crazy if you ask me. They'd get all riled up about nothing and someone would end up losing their head."

"Now, what was I talking about? Oh yes, my name. After a few years they began to treat me less as a servant and more like a friend. They even started to take me on some of their raids. They'd let me carry their flag, that one over there, and I would sing songs to lead them into battle. I only know drinkin' songs but it seemed to work for them all the same. So one day they gave me a name, The Vine of the People's Resolve on a count of whenever they drank my wine and heard my singin' they said all fear would be wiped away from them. But I said you could call me 'S' and I'm going to get to that."

The leshy put the wine bottle on the table and placed the flag aside. He pulled out some ink and paper and began to scrawl something at the table. He stilled his unsteady hand and wrote very slowly:

The Vine of the People's Resolve

The leshy pointed to the barely legible writing. "See... see how long that took to write?" (Perhaps it would have taken less time if he was sober but that's beside the point.) "It's too long even too long to say The Vine of the People's Resolve every time. So then one day it hit me."

He dips his pen into the inkwell and proudly underlines part of his name.

The Vine of the People's Resolve

"Do you see it? The ViPeR! Kinda cool huh? It's like my very own super secret code name, kind of like Red Raven."

"Now I know what you are thinking, viper doesn't even have an 's' in it so how?... Well, now that I had this super secret name I would start signing things I wrote with a little snake. And one day I noticed something else! That little snake looked like a big letter 'S' and 'S' is even shorter than 'The Viper"! So that is why you can call me 'S'."

Note, S gets goodberry as a spell-like ability that he can use twice per day. As they have a 4 day duration, if there is travel time after the introduction, he might have more. But as for now he'll start with today's SLAs worth.

The leshy plucked a few fresh grapes and pounded them into a dark purple mash. He used the mash to begin to scrawl something on the table. He stilled his unsteady hand and wrote very slowly:
The Vine of the People's Resolve
After an agonizing 5 minutes and several more smashed grapes, the leshy pointed to the barely legible writing. See... see how long that took to write. It's too long even too long to say The Vine of the People's Resolve every time. So then one day it hit me.

He dips his finger into the grape pigment and proudly underlines part of his name.

As if the next part had anything to do with the story, the leshy continued.

Eventually that crowd got into it with your people and the ones who were there said they were going to rescue me. Only I didn't think I needed any rescuing, but I was happy to make new friends so I went along with it and they brought me to their lodge in Woodsedge. And that is why you can call me 'S'.

HEY! I FINALLY FOUND THE PLACE!

Into the lodge comes stumbling a creature who appears to be having a bit of a tussle with a cluster of grapevines. Soon you realize that the creature is the tangle of vines. He's dressed in a breastplate with a rapier at one hip, a pair of flasks at the other, around his neck is an iron tankard, which sloshes with liquid as well. In one hand he carries a flag of Galt and in the other a pitcher of wine.

I was starting to get a bit angs... anx... worried that I was going to run out of wine before I found this place.

The leshy places his flag against one of the walls and smiles a grin that nearly goes from one side of his face to another.

But you know... you know what. The leshy plucks a grape from his vines and begins laughing uproariously as if that simple act was the funniest thing he'd ever done.

*pant* Then I *pant* I remembered that I COULD JUST MAKE MORE! He squeezes the grape into his pitcher, somehow managing not to spill a drop even as he is in hysterics. PRAISE BE THE ACCIDENTAL GOD!

Suddenly, his eyes settled on Laafdahni's nearly empty glass and the thought of such a tragedy snapped him out of his jollity.

A nearly empty glass!

He immediately stumbles over to her table and pours some of his own pitcher into her glass.

The Drunken Hero forbid that your glass run dry before the night is done!
