Hi, I'm considering getting my feet wet with PFS and GMing my first home game online with friends and family. Unfortunately, I'm pretty confused as to how this would work to ensure that characters would be PFS-legal. I'm uncertain of whether or not I need to run Season 6 scenarios (the Guide to PFS Organized Play has a section on running older scenarios, but at the same time, I've seen mentions on the paizo website's list of what is permissible excluding things like aasimars and tieflings that didn't have xp before August 14th 2014), and of how to handle the "Need to provide hardcopy of books/photocopy to use non-core content in an online game. I'm also just generally confused as to what boons are, and how they are obtained. Is there an expiration date on boons, or can any character that plays older scenarios that grant boons (if they are granted in this way) obtain a boon, even if from non-season 6 content? Is there a maximum time limit to play through a scenario during a home game, or is this restricted to conventions where tables need to be cycled through? Does my becoming a PFS GM force me to run games at a particular frequency, or to play "Pick-up Group" games (where anyone may join), to borrow MMO terminology? I've looked over GMing 101 and the Guide to PFS Organized Play, but I haven't been able to find (or if present, understand) the information that I'm asking about. I apologize if there is a relevant sticky or FAQ that addresses these, or if this is not the correct place to ask these questions; I'm unsure of where to even begin to look for these answers.
I'm sure this will be accused of being fluff twice over, but the first page of the feats section has this to say about Pummeling Style: ACG Page 136 wrote:
I think Pummeling Style is quite clearly intended to only be used in conjunction with unarmed strikes, or such weapons that are described as dealing an unarmed strike in their text entries, such as Brass Knuckles.

Seriously? Swashbucklers have an entire archetype devoted to daggers and starknives in the form of the Flying Blade.

A herald of the doom that people are facing sounds pretty spot on for a worshipper of the Old Ones, to be fair, especially if focused on Azathoth more so than the other Old Ones. As far as how to add the spell, got nothing that keeps your character as a cleric, short of asking your GM to put it there. If you're willing to consider playing a witch, they also gain access to Suffocate and Mass Suffocate, and they get a patron, so that seems thematic. The Insanity patron seems particularly fitting, although there are a few others that can be good for the Old Ones. I'm guessing that the cleric part is non-negotiable, though.
I'm thinking of getting a Giant Gecko (Bestiary 3) as an animal companion, but I was wondering about its climb speed. As opposed to the monster version, which does have a 40ft climb speed, the animal companion does not have an outright climb speed in its stat block, but it does get a 20ft one by virtue of its expert climber special ability. Am I reading the stat block correctly, and a gecko only has a 20ft climb speed?

I don't quite follow how having a conductive weapon would help, since you can only use the conductive weapon property once per round. Spoiler:
Conductive: A conductive weapon is able to channel the energy of a spell-like or supernatural ability that relies on a melee or ranged touch attack to hit its target (such as from a cleric's domain granted power, sorcerer's bloodline power, oracle's mystery revelation, or wizard's arcane school power). When the wielder makes a successful attack of the appropriate type, he may choose to expend two uses of his magical ability to channel it through the weapon to the struck opponent, who takes the effects of the weapon attack and the special ability. (If the wielder has unlimited uses of a special ability, he may channel through the weapon every round.) For example, a paladin who strikes an undead opponent with her conductive greatsword can expend two uses of lay on hands ability (a supernatural melee touch attack) to deal greatsword damage and damage from one use of her lay on hands. This weapon property can only be used once per round, and only works with magical abilities of the same type as the weapon (melee or ranged). If I understand correctly, you should be able to fire delayed bombs, but you can still only shoot one per round, except that now, they each cost you an extra use of bomb to use, and you spent money on a +1 weapon ability. |
