Oh, right! I was botting Hania! Thought I was waiting for someone else to go first. Sorry for the delay.

Hania ignores the powerful lawful energies surging around, and calls upon a celestial spirit to bond with her sword, as it begins to glow with a bright golden light. She then draws again on the the elemental energies of Ranginori, to buy herself some extra time... and uses it to call out a prayer to Sheylin... her sword glowing even brighter.

Standard action to activate her divine bond. Giving the weapon Keen and Flaming Burst.
Free action to use the elemental might ability to take an extra standard action, in which she will cast Blade of Bright Victory. This will give the weapon Ghost Touch (I'm assuming you meant 'incorporeal', not 'ethereal'?

She then steps confidently around the far side of the nearest dust cloud, so it can not so easily keep retreating.

Botting Hania!

Fort: 1d20 + 16 + 2 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 16 + 2 + 4 = 32 Heh. Hania's the first player I've seen without a cloak of resistance past the low levels. =)

Hania sends a prayer to Shelyn, then calls upon the lingering power of Ranginori as small arcs of electricity begin to work their way along her blade. Taking the sword in both hands, she steps up to the larger foe and smites it the old fashioned way.

<<Insert suitable paladiny rhetoric here>>

5' step, full attack the aevarut (blue)

Attack stuff:
Will use an elemental point to add +5d6 electricity to each attack, bringing the elemental might bonus down to +3

haste (+1), heroism (+2), bard (+3), banner, elemental might (+3), 2-handed PA (-4)

weapon is only +5, so only bypasses the alignment DR, not the epic

primary: 1d20 + 26 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 26 + 5 = 51, for 1d8 + 12 + 20 ⇒ (2) + 12 + 20 = 34 damage plus 5d6 ⇒ (3, 1, 2, 2, 3) = 11 electricity.
confirm primary?: 1d20 + 26 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 26 + 5 = 37, for an additional 1d8 + 12 + 20 ⇒ (8) + 12 + 20 = 40 damage.
secondary: 1d20 + 21 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 21 + 5 = 34, for 1d8 + 12 + 20 ⇒ (2) + 12 + 20 = 34 damage plus 5d6 ⇒ (5, 4, 2, 6, 2) = 19 electricity.
tertiary: 1d20 + 16 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 16 + 5 = 36, for 1d8 + 12 + 20 ⇒ (3) + 12 + 20 = 35 damage plus plus 5d6 ⇒ (2, 5, 6, 5, 2) = 20 electricity.
hasted: 1d20 + 26 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 26 + 5 = 41, for 1d8 + 12 + 20 ⇒ (8) + 12 + 20 = 40 damage plus plus 5d6 ⇒ (4, 2, 2, 4, 2) = 14 electricity.

Dunno if the electricity attack does extra on a crit or not.

Hania's current AC = 30

Once everything's sorted, can you push this to inactive Silbeg?

Hoping to clear out the campaigns list before everything gets all active again on Monday =)

Chronicle acquired.

Thanks again, Silbeg!

GM:
UMD: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (20) + 16 = 36 <--- see, he's a natural!

re: the wysps

GM Silbeg wrote:
And no one tried to really interact or influence them. Had they, I would have dropped more information.

Octaris tried! I just assumed I failed to be properly diplomatic, or it wasn't possible at all when there was no response.

(Though to be honest, I think he would have shot the fire wisp anyway... stupid fire!)

GM:
Shouldn't they have at least been hinted as an option though, where one would not normally think it even possible?
We actually hired Nix, and the GM gave us only knowledge options
I noticed the crystals too late, that was my fault, I admit.
Influencing the wisps? Really, how would one even think you could do that (much less do that with UMD) without a clue from the Gm? I at least tried talking to one of them, but even that didn't lead to a clue that influencing them was possible!

So, in the end, I was only given 2 chances, and had to get both or fail.

Bah!

I'm not bitter =)

Wow, really? How was that even remotely obvious from the note? It only even ever came up twice... (admittedly I didn't notice I could use it on the crystals till too late, was mentioned on the rift, which I did... but where else was it even hinted as an option?)

Am trying to figure out if Aurathius is supposed to be trying to do something here at the end.

I know he was just pretending to be Octaris... and figures even if he gets caught, they'll think he's awesome for trying, and still ask him to join...

But if his identity never comes up? Am I supposed to confess in expectation of an invite, or just go on my merry way and let my stuck up cousin get the credit?

The joke seems less funny when no one ever figures it out =)

This PC has only 2 points of xp from quests, so is still not defined in any meaningful way =)

Player Name: Aaron
Character Name: (none yet)
PFS #: 84637-19
Character Faction: (undefined) GL?
Day job: none
Normal|Slow Track: Normal
Reduce to level 1?: No

Faux-Octaris has been a hoot to rp. =) Glad I played him.
Too bad his cousin is getting all the credit though!

The little water mephit tries to look properly humble at the praise...

He fails miserably.

Zephyr only had 1 hp left? Careful!

GM: am I able to try again? And if so, with UMD? Or do we have to succeed more then once, with different skills?
going to assume one can keep trying...

"I told you, very dangerous!" Octaris says, not quite able keeping the smug satisfaction out of his voice.

"Clearly, this is not an ordinary tear!" He adds, trying to look like he knows what he's talking about, once more.

"It takes centuries of training to master the arcane knowledge required to seal a rift this size!" He adds, nodding sagely. "Luckily for you, I have just such training!"

He waves his fingers, and says some more arcane phrases, as he studies the thing a moment.

"Ah ha..." He exclaims, as if spotting something new with his 'magic senses'. "Of course... the residual ocular turbulence was masking the planar eddies coming from the port vortex."

"I should be able to curb it with a variation of the ... uh... Saltstraumen Mantras. Very advanced magic." He fakes a concerned frown. "Even for me."

He waves the others back, and goes back to work. Flitting about, first on one side, then another, seeming at random, keeping up a long, high pitched hum, the entire time... that sounds more like drowning cats then any sort of magical mantra.

hey now, water mephit music probably sounds pretty awful out of water =)

UMD Perform (magical chicanery): 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (10) + 16 = 26

After a while, if the rift still hasn't subsided, he will pretend that was expected.

"The mantra is only to weaken the gravitronic bonds." He explains, as if such were obvious. "Now the hard part begins!"

Once more, he starts spouting phrases and words in what seems like a half dozen different languages, none of which are familiar to anyone. All the while, flying about the rift, and waving his fingers in important-looking ways.

Hey, his Tongues spell is still active, so we'll dip into the obscure end of the language pool and pretend its important magical stuff!

UMD Spellcraftiness: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (15) + 16 = 31

As long as it continues to have some effect, and the rift continues to not fully close, he will keep up his act, each time going through different equally strange machinations to keep the ruse alive!

Next he has Rhyol use the intense heat of her hide to burn strange symbols into the floor that he traces there first with a small etching knife. As she finishes each one to his satisfaction, he drops a deluge of water on it, sending small gouts of steam to rising up into the rift itself.

UMD Knowledge (faux esoterica): 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (14) + 16 = 30

At one point, he simply stares at it for a minute or two, holding out one hand with only his index and pinkie finger extended, rocking it back and forth.

UMD Profession (rift wrangler): 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (17) + 16 = 33

Clearly, he is a master of all things magical!

And in case you want one: Bluff: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (11) + 13 = 24

Sorry, was kinda fun making up stuff, got a bit carried away =)

Octaris looks a little put out, as the rift spinner so easily flees. He recovers quickly, however, preening slightly. He turns to admonish the wysps that remain.

"See what happens when you challenge the magical might of the Great Octaris!" He crows, in their native tongues. "Now, begone all of you, before I turn my wrath on you!"

As they retreat back to the tower, he ponders the magical portal, now condensed into a sphere.

"Well, this is why you brought me along!" He says, trying to sound sure of himself. "Why such a feats are common amongst purveyors of magical might, such as myself!"

"You all might want to step back." He adds, trying to look serious. "This is very dangerous work!"

"Why, see... that thingamahoozie there, needs to be collapsed into that whosiwatzitz there." He mutters, as he flutters around it, waving his arms and pointing like he knows what he's doing. "And of course, we need to make sure to fold the arcanibit under the psychitab ... not over of course... never over. A common mistake among less experienced arcane practitioners!"

He continues to mutter totally made up mumbo jumbo, and point and utter random arcane phrases, occasionally stopping to look things up in his spellbook like he knows what he's doing.

UMD: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (20) + 16 = 36

Ha! Take that magical gizmo!

Jamilla is not in its melee range is she? Unless it has a 15' reach I suppose. (At least she wasn't while medium sized, only after she grows will she be)

Octaris flies up even higher and comes in a little closer, ending up some ways over Rhyol's head. Moisture continues to gather from all around, forming around him like a small coat until he gathers it all and flings it once more at the Rift Spinner below. He seems to be enjoying himself.

Once gain, waiting to make sure the bard song is going. He will currently be 25' up over Rhyol

Water Blast vs rift spinner, bard, hope, pbs: 1d20 + 14 + 2 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 14 + 2 + 2 + 1 = 26, for 3d6 + 8 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (6, 5, 2) + 8 + 2 + 1 = 24 damage.

Did we lose the GM again?

Hey now... Octaris is flying, I purposefully went up to avoid the cover! Not that it matters this time =)

I will make sure Ember goes first, in hopes she's starting up her song again... but either way, shooting the big guy!

Octaris flies upwards a little, to clear the heads of those in between himself and the rift spinner, gathering water as he goes. By the time he has a clear shot, he laughs happily, and sends a blast of it hurtling towards the rift spinner.

Ascend just enough for a clear shot.

Water Blast vs Rift Spinner, PBS, hope, bard: 1d20 + 14 + 1 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 14 + 1 + 2 + 2 = 27, for 3d6 + 8 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (6, 5, 3) + 8 + 1 + 2 = 25 damage. (-2 from both if Ember doesn't start her song)

Worth it for no confused thoqqua =)

For the record, Octaris' reflex is a +15 (not 10)... 10 is his init modifier (or Fort save, I suppose) =) Doesn't look like it matters, as he made it anyway I think.)

What happened to the 19 damage Octaris did to the fire wysp? Did it regen that?

Which is these creatures are actually flying?

And can Rhyol delay until after the wysps, so we're all grouped together in init? Would speed things along somewhat I suspect.

And lastly: A confused Rhyol is a terrifying thing!

Octaris seems perturbed that they seem to be ignoring him, his little mephit face scowling!

"Fine! If you will not listen to my words, then you shall face my magical might!" He cries in their protean language, as flies out from behind the portal and starts drawing moisture from the air once more.

The fact it seems more difficult then usual, only makes him more annoyed! He aims that annoyance at the fire wysp... because he doesn't like fiery things either.

Unless Rhyol takes it out with her AoO ... in which case, he shoots the air one.

Ranged water blast, PBS, bard: 1d20 + 14 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 14 + 1 + 2 = 29, for 3d6 + 8 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (2, 2, 4) + 8 + 1 + 2 = 19 damage.

Don't forget the planar effect, Rhyol! It adds +1d6 to your fire damage!

Ah, good... that falling around stuff was annoyingly complicated

I noticed there was no Me on the map... but there were 6 icons... think we had 2 Krakos' ... took one off and put mine on... though perhaps it was supposed to be the other one, dunno!

Octaris lets out a bit of a moan, as the feel of the place seems to weigh heavily on his watery nature.

"I shall handle this!" He offers, though perhaps not with his usual enthusiasm. He flaps his wings and ascends a short ways, for a better view, waving a small wand around as he does so.

UMD: 1d20 + 16 - 2 ⇒ (13) + 16 - 2 = 27 (Using the wand of Tongues on himself).

"No simple wisps are a match for my magic!" He exclaims, then starts calling out imperiously to the creatures in the same language they just used.

No, I don't expect this to work!

Protean:
"Stop this nonsense at once!" He calls. "Do you not know who I am?!"

"I have lead my retinue a long way, across many planes, to be here, and would rather not have to teach you any painful lessons that could be avoided!"

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 6 - 2 ⇒ (16) + 6 - 2 = 20

Egads, everything's always so confusing! =)
Are we still in subjective direction gravity here? Or is it something else now?

"See." Octaris exclaims, as Rhyol makes it look easy. "My magic will help!"

Totally taking credit!

Oh, and ready to go!

He waves over Krakos, ready to assist him as well.

Not sure who can fly or not.

Remember, plane of air... just have to will yourself to fall the right way! aka, towards said portal =)

Eventually Octaris puts his spellbook away, and stretches his wings.

"Alright, I am now fully prepared!" He exclaims, as he looks up at the portal overhead.

"Who shall lead the way?"

I assume at some point we're going through! Anyone? Bueller?

He ponders his non-flight-capable companions with a disapproving frown.

"I shall assist with the entry." He proclaims, as he prepares some sticks and bits of coral into a strange complex sculpture. Apparently intending to use it to aid with whatever magic he is readying.

The portal is way up above us right? So he will hit each person going through (who can not fly on their own) with feather fall.

Feather Fall and Subjective Directional Gravity wrote:
A PC under the effects of a feather fall spell falls at only 60 feet per round and gains a +2 circumstance bonus on the Wisdom checks to change direction.

Meditation rooms? Oh... are those the little rooms on either side of where we came in?

Knowledge (planes): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15

Octaris pulls out the now-familiar spellbook and starts to study it again.

"Let me top off my arcane might." He offers, "Then I shall be good to take on this Maelstrom!"

Not first!

Heh, wise? =)

Octaris looks upwards, at Rhyol's comment, and does his best to not look surprised.

"Of course." He says, covering quickly. "It is what I was waiting for. We just needed the the latent magicalness to fade once we overcame its electrical crystalline wards!"

He gives it an appraising stare, one eye closed, the other one squinted.

"Yes, it should be safe to pass through now!" He finally decrees.

bluff: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (15) + 13 = 28

Knowledge (planes): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9

Unfortunately, Octaris pretends to know more then he ever really does! =)

wee! healing problem solved!

As he sits there in the strangely cohesive pool of water, floating on top of the, itself floating, table, he does his best to strike up a thoughtful pose.

"I will ponder the correct course of action while my arcane might deals with these injuries!" He intones imperiously... the tone somewhat lessened by his high pitched voice.

Some of the electrical burns start to heal over as he sits there thinking.

Though I'm still not sure what we're supposed to do next... are we missing a door or a stairway or something? Been a while, and I may have missed/forgotten something.

I was intending to create a descriptive IC post, was hoping for information to work with, so I wasn't saying stuff that wasn't actually how it worked. Thus the OOC

Seeing the water moving towards the table, the little mephit gives a happy chuckle, and then immediately starts to pull more water out of the air, directly over the table, until quite the large pool starts to form. He sits down in the middle of it, and calls up even more.

My hope is to create a large enough pool of water, for a small sized mephit to sit in, and get my fast healing going =)

Am asking cause he is trying! I just don't want to type up a big post without the right information.

And that's not how create water works. You can create all you want. One does not cancel the last.

Hmm... good question..

GM, if I do a 'create water' in the room with the levitating table, does the water levitate around/near the table? How big a pool can I create?

Nice, two 20's in a row! =)

Octaris seems slightly disappointed that Zephyr managed to find some useful information, and not him. Still, he takes it in stride, covers for himself.

"Ah, yes... Pahwal!" He exclaims, "I know him, of course. Very powerful... rivaling even myself!"

Bluff: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (6) + 13 = 19

"But..." he adds, eventually. "Though that might explain what this place is. It does not really tell us why it is here... or what that is all about." He points up at the Maelstrom overhead.

Knowledge (planes): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20

Octaris snorts derisively at some of the titles.

"I already know how I breath, thank you very much." He mutters.

Still he looks through the titles for something interesting to impress the others with.

Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11

Though probably doesn't find anything

"A souvenir!" The little mephit will say, as he picks up one of the shards, before glancing around the room curiously.

He quickly grows bored with the floating table, however, such things not nearly as interesting on the plane of Air.

He flies back out of the room, looking around with a slight frown.

His eyes go up to the maelstrom overhead, then flies over the library, to see if there's anything in there that might make him look smart.

Octaris preens a bit.

"Lesson learned!" he crows. The little mephit then flies into the room with the crystal he just destroyed to look at the offending pieces of the object in question.

Aka, the meeting room!

Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13

We haven't explored any of them, just opened the doors and looked in. Just everything went to pot when the last door opened, and all 5 got exposed.

Hmm... actually did we ponder just closing a door to turn them off again? =)

Octaris frowns, as the crystals keep resisting his powerful magics.

"Ignorant crystal! My magical power is boundless! He cries, as he lets loose another blast of water!

water blast: 1d20 + 14 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 14 + 1 + 2 = 35, for 3d6 + 8 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (4, 4, 3) + 8 + 2 + 1 = 22 damage.

Octaris continues to perform his version of water magic, gathering the moisture all around, then releasing it once more, this time at the crystal hovering over the hovering table.

Again, blast, and move action to gather power to apply the pushing infusion, and attempt to push the crystal out of its socket.
Dunno if that last bit will work, but its only a move action to try! =)

Water Blast!: 1d20 + 14 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 14 + 1 + 2 = 31, for 3d6 + 8 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (5, 5, 2) + 8 + 2 + 1 = 23 water damage.
bull rush: 1d20 + 10 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 10 + 2 = 26

Octaris frowns, when the crystal proves resistant to his magic.

"The great Octaris will no be denied!" He squeals, as water vapor and mist start to gather around him once more.

Well, lets try this again! Same crystal he already damaged, but this time, I will add the pushing infusion to the blast, and maybe push the damn crystal out of alignment!

Bard song is currently down? If it isn't, add 2 to these!

Water Blast: 1d20 + 14 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 14 + 1 = 22, for 3d6 + 8 + 1 ⇒ (5, 6, 2) + 8 + 1 = 22 damage.

bull rush: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (11) + 10 = 21

Got ya filled in.

Heh. All water mephits look the same right? That's kinda my MO! =)
And Ember and Rhyol are rather distinctive.
It's Jamila and Krakos that suddenly are confusing.

I tend to use the map link at the top, which I wasn't sure you had access to yet =) Not to mention the map link in your stat line is broken!

In general, it is more helpful for the tokens on the map to match the avatars used on the message board, I've found.

Perhaps that particular image is available to choose, but they removed the search function for the avatar selection, so it would take too long to page through the zillion images available!

Oh, and I moved the current map up to the top, so its what we see when we select the map link up top. Hope that's ok.

Zot!

So the one by Krakos is destroyed now? Just 4 left?

Octaris lets out a squeal of distress as the lightning plays about the room, zapping them all!

"Ahhhh! destroy them! Quickly!" He cries.

Still smoking, he flys over for a clearer view of the crystal in the library room, and conjures up a second blast of water, sending it at that crystal.

Water Blast the library crystal... hopefully not rolling a 1 this time =)

water blast, PBS, bard: 1d20 + 14 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 14 + 1 + 2 = 22, for 3d6 + 8 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (1, 3, 3) + 8 + 1 + 2 = 18 damage.

Dunno if mine counts as a 'mission' ... more a 'lark' =)

Tektite was already a replacement. =)

It might be Gameday 7 before we finish our Gameday 6 game! Heh.

Drops of water vapor and moisture start to swirl and eddy around where Octaris flutters in the air on the far side of the room. They quickly gather around the little mephit until they form a ball on the ends of his hands.

With a gleeful cry, he thrusts out his arms, and sends a ball of liquid racing across the room, past Ember, towards the crystal in the first room they investigated with the capped pipes.

Water kinetic blast!

Ranged attack: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (1) + 14 = 15, for 3d6 + 8 ⇒ (2, 3, 5) + 8 = 18 damage.

Well shoot, I rolled a 1 too!
