Thanks for the help again Roberta! : )

**Thanks as well Artanthos.

So I am playing a synthesist who takes on the form of a Quadraped (Sphinx) and I was wondering can I climb a ladder or rope? I have taken the claws evolution if that helps, and have 14 Int so it's not like my character has the mind of a beast.

Can this be done, and how should this situation be handled?

Thank you,
Shanapalapadingdong

The natural attack of the summoned monster is:
Melee 2 talons +3 [+3] (1d4) [1d4+2], bite +3 [+3] (1d4) [1d4+2]

Does this mean I can either bite once or 2x talon attack? &
Can I do 2 talon and a bite attack as a full-attack action?

Thank you,

I think it was really rude to say the following because I didn't see 2 thinks and asked for advice on my character:
Anyway I don't think you should play a synthesist since you don't really know how they work.

I don't know where in the synthesist FAQ section it states I use my eilodon stats for feats and I don't know if my DM would accept this. I suppose if I was fused when I chose the feat it may work.

If my summoner and synthesist both have 11 hp at lvl 1 how will my hp decrease when fused and increased when unfused. - How would my hp change from the 15 con?

Improved Natural Attacks looks awesome, Thanks Elamdri!
I'll have to think of how to add that and rake (huge increase as large : ) into my build.

I'll share the current build for the Eilodon:
Quadraped - (It's going to be some chrisophinx monster - my character is a Black Cat Leonine Catfolk so sphinxes are freakin lions man so they go together)

Evolutions:
1:
Pounce
Claws
Reach Claws
2:
Improved Damage Claws
3:
Natural Armor
4: / Lose Nat Armor
Limbs & Claws
5: / Lose Reach
Energy Attacks
6:
Reach
7: / Lose Reach
Ability Score or Grab?
8: / Lose Ability Score
Large
9:
Grab?
10:
Reach etc

My character's stats are the following. Now keep in my mind these stats are rolled and I need to meet some prequisites for Power Attack etc so check out the newest build:
STR 10 (Need 13 later with giant's build +4 & this increases Eilodon attacks)
Dex 13 (Need 13 for Nimble Moves later, its really a natural 11)
Con 15 (Makes the most sense over one more point in wis as I can switch life points to my eilodon and will be nice to have extra hit points if he dies)
Int 14 (Skills/Languages : )
11 Wis (Nat 13, kinda the dump stat, it's a doable Wis score)
18 Cha (Gotta have charisma for spells!)

Thoughts?

My feat plan is also:
Lvl 1:
Black Cat (Story / Cool Effect)
Lvl 3:
Arcane Strike (Multiattacks =+3)
lvl 5:
Power Attack (Hope i can afford it with multiattacks+aracane)
OR Nimbles Moves
Lvl 7:
Nimble Moves (No more -2 AC Charge for a pouncer sounds pretty rad)
Lvl 9:
Lunge (No -2 so blickablam : )
lvl 11:
Improved Natural Attacks (New one but sounds rad, maybe I should move this up)
Lvl 13,15,17,20
Extra Evolution

Magic-
Revujenate Eilodon - Mage Armor - Lvl 2 Enlarge Person

Thanks for the help on the stats : )

How awesome do you think the feat below is for a pouncing synthesist, I could also take lunge later as well. Do you think this is a higher priority than Extra Evolution:
Nimble Striker (Combat, Catfolk)
You were born to charge your enemies and nobody does it better.
Prerequisites: Dex 13, base attack bonus +1, catfolk, sprinter racial trait.

Benefit: You do not take a –2 penalty to AC when you use the Cleave feat, Lunge feat, or when you charge.

What do you think is more powerful in general for this character - DEX or CON? Does a synthesist often find his eilodon destroyed and stuck in his normal form? I need 13 dex for Nimble Moves which I plan taking later, and like to have the defense and ranged capability if my eilodon dies. I think Con would be useful though as I can give my eilodon my hit points with life link. CON vs Dex who wins?

My current stats are:
11 STR
17 DEX
10 CON
14 INT
11 WIS
18 CHA
**I want 11 STR to take Power attack once I can buy a Giant's Belt.

I could probably use the following if my GM approves an 8 wisdom:
11 STR
13 DEX
15 CON
14 INT
8 WIS
18 CHA

What build do you think is better for the synthesist?

Thanks for all the assistance! : D

Does my summoner base will bonuses stack with my eilodon's will saves when I am synthesized?

Do you think the wisdom score of 5 is also except-able? How should this be role-played, what would a wisdom score of 7 or 9 en tale?

In general what do you think is more beneficial for this character: Dex or CON?

Thanks for the clarification, stoked to try this out. Especially as I am making him a black Leonine Catfolk character who morphs into a Crisophinx!

I was hoping one of my teammates would take craft wonderous item at lvl 3 in order to grab the belt of strength for cheap, if not I can always wait till 7th lvl I guess.. : /

Overall I am pretty excited to try this guy out, should be pretty rad.

Hello,

I am building a catfolk summoner synthesist. I have a quick question on if I can use all of the following before an attack: Arcane Strike, Power Attack, Lunge and maybe even Charge. Can I use all of these abilities when I attack?

I thought Nimble moves would go really well with a quadraped pouncing synthesist. See my build below and let me know your thoughts. I like the Black Cat feat and it add for my flavour of the character but is kind of hindering my DPR, what do you think of the Black Cat feat?

STR 9
DEX 14
CON 14
INT 14
WIS 5
CHA 19

Feat Progression:
Black Cat
Nimble Moves OR Arcane Strike
Power Attack (Belt of Giant Strength +4 by lvl 5)
Arcane Strike or Nimble Moves
Lunge
Extra Evolution
Extra Evolution
Extra Evolution

oh Roberta, my spirit is crushed. FML.

Do I still need to take weapon training evolution or can Eilodons freely use the synthesist's weapons?

I still need to take the evolution of weapon fighting even as a synthesist correct? Or can the eilodon use the same weapons that I do?

Say I have a Large Eilodon at lvl 4 and at lvl 7 I want to make him huge. I can just readjust my evolutions at the beginning of my level and update him for 10 points instead of a total of 12 from the following statement correct:
The ability increase evolution costs twice as much (4 evolution points) when adding to the Strength or Constitution scores of a Large or Huge eidolon. Source: Advanced Player's Guide

Does it cost 6 points to make a large eilodon or 10 points total:
4-Point Evolutions
Large (Ex)

An eidolon grows in size, becoming Large. The eidolon gains a +8 bonus to Strength, a +4 bonus to Constitution, and a +2 bonus to its natural armor. It takes a –2 penalty to its Dexterity. This size change also gives the creature a –1 size penalty to its AC and on attack rolls, a +1 bonus to its CMB and CMD, a –2 penalty on Fly skill checks, and a –4 penalty on Stealth skill checks. If the eidolon has the biped base form, it also gains 10-foot reach. Any reach evolutions the eidolon possesses are added to this total. The eidolon must be Medium to take this evolution. The summoner must be at least 8th level before selecting this evolution.

If 6 additional evolution points are spent, the eidolon instead becomes Huge. The eidolon gains a +16 bonus to Strength, a +8 bonus to Constitution, and a +5 bonus to its natural armor. It takes a –4 penalty to its Dexterity. This size change also give the creature a –2 size penalty to its AC and attack rolls, a +2 bonus to its CMB and CMD, 10-foot reach, a –4 penalty on Fly skill checks, and a –8 penalty on Stealth skill checks. If the eidolon has the biped base form, its reach increases to 15 feet (10 feet for all other base forms). Any reach evolutions the eidolon possesses are added to this total. These bonuses and penalties replace, and do not stack with, those gained from becoming Large. The summoner must be at least 13th level before selecting this option.

The ability increase evolution costs twice as much (4 evolution points) when adding to the Strength or Constitution scores of a Large or Huge eidolon. Source: Advanced Player's Guide

I am excited to play this character, I made my character and in Eilodon form I have 22 Cha and 25 Str with items : )

With the biped claw attacks are both primary attacks made at my full attack bonus?

Thanks for the advice on the feats as well, the evolution points feat may make this character beyond rad : )

Thanks Wagadodo,

I use my full BAB for both claw attacks correct?

I was planning on getting augment summoning as a backup in case my eilodon dies, hopefully he will be tough enough to not need to worry about this.

Hello,

Looking to make a summoner, and the sythesist looks pretty fun. Couple quick questions:

1 - With the biped Eilodon, it states 2 Claw Attacks. This looks to be the primary attack. I wasn't sure how these worked exactly as is it one attack roll for 2d4 damage? Or do I roll each claw attack seperately? If these are my only attacks, can't I add 1.5X my strength to the attack per what the Eilodon description states?

2 - Anyway to get Augment Summoning without taking spell focus conjuration which doesn't do much for me. Or any other feats that may be worth wile?

Any experience / feedback playing a synthesist?

Thank You,
Thomas

Is it possible to have a keen greatsword +0 for 2k?

Is it also possible to get a +1 greatsword and enchant it later with keen or something else?

Also say I had a headband of wisdom +2, could i pay the difference to have the item enchanted into lvl 4?

Does a keen greatsword cost 50(greatsword)+300(masterwork)+2000(+1 Enhancement)=2,350 OR does it cost 4350 from needing 2 (+1 enhancement)?

Because this is an enhancemnet bonus does this stack with bull's strength or giant's belt which both give enhancement bonuses? Or am I fine because one is weapon enhancement and the other is a strength enhancement?

If I have 2 domains I only get 1 spell to choose for a domain spell slot or does this go up and how so?

Will the bonus of the feat listed below take affect if I miss:
Shield of Swings
Prerequisites: Str 13, Power Attack, base attack bonus +1.

Benefit: When you take a full-attack action while wielding a two-handed weapon, you can choose to reduce the damage by 1/2 to gain a +4 shield bonus to AC and CMD until the beginning of your next turn. The reduction in damage applies until the beginning of your next turn.

Which do you think would be better Selective Channeling with 13 Cha or Shield of Swings with 14 Dex?

Thanks,

Sorry I was thinking of righteous might which increases my size I think I can use that with enlarge size to become huge! : O Thanks for bringing mighty strength to my attention, I like that one.

So can I use all the following spells at the same time in theory:
Enlarge Person -> Righteous Might -> Bull's Strength -> Controlled Rage or Rage spell?

The more I look at it straight up clerics rock! It may be better just to go straight Battle Cleric (Get greatsword from Diety, and can go Theologian Ferocious Strength) instead of taking a MC for just controlled rage and a few extra hp, what do you think? Although it may make more sense for my campaign to be a barbarian first then cleric, something for me to ponder about.

How come mighty strength won't stack with a belt of strength or bull strength?

My rage spell gives me standard rage effects not controlled rage correct?

Can a person cast the rage spell and then enter a barbarian rage?

Can a person cast enlarge person and then mighty strength to quadruple there size?

I can cast spells when enlarged / raged correct?

Thanks for all the help man appreciate it!

Now if only I new a way for it to make sense to have armored hulk heavy armor in a 1898 boston campaign lol... Or a way to disguise the armor.. or convince my DM lol.

I needed to be tanky enough to take the hit and it makes the most sense to take armored hulk, even if I went light armor I don't have enough dex to support it and not sure what I can balance to increase my dex as well. I'd rather be heavy armored but need to come up with a good reason lol.

You da man!

Do you think I have enough Wis for being a Cleric with the stats below? This is for taking barbarian first lvl and cleric second:
18 Str
12 Dex
14 Con
7 Int
14 Wis
12 Cha
(20 Point Build)

I plan on mostly doing power attacks with a 2 handed weapon and have the cleric spells for buffing myself and the heals. I am trying to keep 18 str as the damage output is insane at lvl 1 IMO:
With power attack non rage:
2d6+9
With power attack & rage:
2d6+12

I like the barbarian rage, but wanted more versatility to the character so I looked into the Cleric but if you have better suggestions please let me know.

Thank you, appreciate the help. Bummer that number of rage rounds don't go up as you level, I was hoping it would as it didn't clearly specify but what you said makes sense.

Say I have 8 Intelligence and the class Cleric says I get skills equal to 2+Int. Does that mean I only get 1 skill point a lvl or is 2 the minimum for this class?

I am planning on making a Barbarian then MC to Cleric on lvl 2. I have a couple questions though:

1. Can I Power Attack then get a cleave attack? If so can the Cleave be a Power Attack as well?

2. Can you take an Archtype on Barbarian and an Archtype on a Cleric?

3. Can I have both abilities from my domain listed below being used at the same time:
Ferocious (Strength)
Ferocious Strike (Su): Whenever you make a melee attack, you can designate that attack as a ferocious strike. If the attack hits, it deals additional damage equal to 1/2 your cleric level (minimum +1). You can use this ability a number of times per day equal to 3 + your Wisdom modifier.

Destruction
Destructive Smite (Su): You gain the destructive smite power: the supernatural ability to make a single melee attack with a morale bonus on damage rolls equal to 1/2 your cleric level (minimum 1). You must declare the destructive smite before making the attack. You can use this ability a number of times per day equal to 3 + your Wisdom modifier.

4. If I take both the domains listed above can I take the Bless spell as it lists domain types that I don't have:
Domain community 1, leadership 1, resolve 1

5. Does my rage rounds go up after each lvl in Cleric, will I get 2 extra rounds at lvl 2?
Rage (Ex)
A barbarian can call upon inner reserves of strength and ferocity, granting her additional combat prowess. Starting at 1st level, a barbarian can rage for a number of rounds per day equal to 4 + her Constitution modifier. At each level after 1st, she can rage for 2 additional rounds.

Thanks for the help!
