Acr +3, Intim +10, K(Eng) +8, Per +3, SMo +3, Stl +3 Veryl takes a breath, shoving aside thoughts of his old mentor yelling at him for being unfocused. Perhaps he is thinking about it too hard. He lets the pain of the clawed strikes sink in, trying to turn the agony into energy, impetus with which to keep fighting. Attack: 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 7 + 2 = 21

Spoiler:
Acr +3, Intim +10, K(Eng) +8, Per +3, SMo +3, Stl +3 If it shifts position, doesn't it need to make an Acrobatics check to remain standing? The Reflex save keeps it from falling prone immediately from grease but it still needs to make checks if it moves, IIRC (but I am not looking at the spell at the moment). Veryl grimaces in pain but, stoically, does not cry out. Instead, he redoubles his efforts to wound the creature. Attack, presuming flanking: 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 7 + 2 = 12
Jesus, seriously?

Acr +3, Intim +10, K(Eng) +8, Per +3, SMo +3, Stl +3 I thought Veryl and I were the only ones in the room? Breaca was guarding the door with her bow, but Merwyn had not entered. I would be willing to take the damage on either of the characters I am controlling. Remembering earlier discussions about what might be more effective on fiends, Veryl switches to his cold iron sword as he steps near the barghest and swings down with both hands. If Miro closes into attack in melee, Veryl will try to flank if possible Attack (add 2 if flanking): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15

Acr +3, Intim +10, K(Eng) +8, Per +3, SMo +3, Stl +3 Fair enough. Veryl grabs the rope and begins tying up Nualia, starting with the hands, then feet. Once Merwyn dismisses the grease he will gag her as well.

My understanding was the blackness was only around her head. Merwyn's description says "Surrounding her head and face." I worded my action very carefully and specifically so he would not disturb the spell in any way.

Acr +3, Intim +10, K(Eng) +8, Per +3, SMo +3, Stl +3 Veryl thinks it's odd that she hasn't said anything even after coming out of the shock of Merwyn's first spell. For someone who has been described to them as essentially charismatic and arrogant, he thinks it's strange she has done nothing to harm them or try to convince them of the error of their ways. Knowing he may regret this later, he jabs the tip of his sword into Nualia's chest, away from the strange undulating black mass Merwyn has summoned around the woman's head. "Speak, woman! Where are the results of your schemes?" He raises his blade as if to swing it down on Nualia, but holds off at the last minute. Acr +3, Intim +10, K(Eng) +8, Per +3, SMo +3, Stl +3 If I may, I'd suggest either an Acrobatics check or a Reflex save to dive out of the way, and/or a higher DC Acrobatics check to try to roll under the portcullis before it finishes falling. Once Breaca reacts however she reacts, Veryl runs up to the gate, scowling at it and the party's luck. He remains his ever-present air of calm, however, and first looks the portcullis up and down, analyzing its construction or any weaknesses it may have. If this reveals no obvious way to re-open the portcullis quickly, bearing his analysis in mind, he begins to try to lift the gate (or otherwise manipulate it or its bars to allow them passage through), asking the party for help.
