About Verrin

Description: Verrin is a slight young half-elf woman with long, dark blonde hair and brown eyes. She wears a short-sleeved white blouse under a red vest, as well as a pair of tan trousers above her brown leather boots. From around her neck hangs a silver pendant - or it would hang down if it weren't tucked into her blouse. Her clothes appear to be of the latest fashions, and were obviously designed to allow for ease of movement and for comfort in warm weather. Over her hair she wears a crimson silk headscarf with gold embroidery, while strapped to her belt are sheaths containing a dagger and a short club, as well as several potions, a pair of manacles, and a number of wands.

Backstory & Personality:
While Verrin follows the teachings of St. Cuthbert and will aid his clergy if they request it, she typically does so in ways that would give the typical priest an aneurysm. After her earlier voyage with Waynab & crew, she decided that she should try to make amends with Cuthbert's clergy. She left the group and reported back to the temple of Cuthbert, informing them of the visions she received. She presently acts as a very independent "problem solver" for its leader, her old mentor Father Dosius. She has become a consummate spy and is back in the clergy's good graces, however temporary this state of affairs may be.
She honors her word very highly, and while she will happily bluff her way around town she is deadly serious when it comes down to brass tacks. She never steals from innocents, and typically limits herself to stealing items or information that could be useful to her friends and allies. Verrin has been told numerous times that she would make a good inquisitor if she would show a little more discipline. She avers that deities are best idolized from a distance – after all, there are stories of deities and worshippers who got a little too close, usually with dire consequences for the worshipper. If her priestly friends want to make themselves lighting rods for deific intervention, she’ll wish them luck and run for cover.
Verrin was a foundling of Cuthbert’s church – abandoned to their care as an infant. She knows little about her parents, and that basically amounts to her name. She treats one Father Dosius as a father figure. While her upbringing has instilled in her a belief in order, the frustrations of the clergy in bringing some individuals to justice has convinced her that sometimes one needs to “pick up where the law leaves off.” She was a problem child – always sneaking around to avoid lessons intended to make her a cleric or some such nonsense – and while she remains close friends with many within the church, she is considered a little bit weird by most.
Verrin frequently gets to apply her skills at the behest of the church – she has hunted down a number of fugitives and scouted for her less sneaky allies numerous times, and is well respected for her ability as a spy. She cares more that people keep their word to their allies and for preventing troublemakers from disrupting the status quo than for good versus evil, but she remains a cheerful and generally agreeable person no matter the company she keeps. In a pinch, she would prefer to see the world turn towards good, but believes that overarching order is more important.

Quirks:
"Verrin" is the only name she uses - she has never even hinted at having another name, be it first, last, middle, or an alias.
Verrin often quotes from the teachings of Saint Cuthbert - although how well her quotations match up to the situation may well be a matter for debate.
