It's always disappointing to see a company self-sabotage over small beans like this. Nethys having things straight away means my PFS/SFS players are more likely to see stuff sooner, and then go buy it, because *free samples make for more business folks.*

Also it's just so annoying to have someone with the latest and greatest thing playing at my table when I'm GMing; I need to read things if the player is confused by it but of course I didn't fit the newest book in my bag when I'm hauling all my GM stuff around. Nethys is fundamental to this community and doing this is just going to inconvenience people for pennies at best, or a net loss of customers annoyed by this decision at worst.

The sooner they reverse this decision, the better. Stop listening to the voices in the room chasing tiny profits at the expense of brand image and customer goodwill, please, Paizo leadership, before you have no feet left to shoot at.

Liberty's Edge

I also concur, bottom to top let's go

One of the wizards (mine) could swap out for a Slayer/Dandy if the GM is alright with the new playtest rules where she just sticks around with the current Slayer iteration. Bloodseeking blade slayer, built to run around and smack things and demoralize.

Also she's an azarketi to join the mermaids in our very brilliant plan to attack the demon forest by sea.

Yeah if they had actually been able to do much from inside the darkness I'd have tried that but as things stand repeatedly debuffing/nuking was the right call this time I think.

Great game everybody and thank you oh gracious GM for making sense of that.

Liberty's Edge

Mingmei's initiative is +17 but that's not in your calculation there. (plus another 1 from scouting so +18 total)

Liberty's Edge

Oh okay, that clears that all up. Looks like this scenario has no fights unless something just appears suddenly on one of these big ominous glowing rune circles... but what are the chances of that?

Liberty's Edge

Should we do the left side top to bottom, or bottom to top? My vote is down to the yellow circle and then move upwards

Liberty's Edge

Is the blacked out area unexplorable or did we just skip it for now?

Liberty's Edge

Ok so with a critical success is there anyway to fix the planar barrier or do we just need to figure out how to avoid breaking it?

Liberty's Edge

(for clarity's sake that is Mingmei being annoyed not me, I am a-okay.)

So no idea what checks might help with showing zeal but any ideas feel free to go for it. It does say "proclaim" though so who has social skills?

Liberty's Edge

Did we explore the tiny room in the upper right yet? Otherwise I support the counter clockwise plan.

Liberty's Edge

Yes you copied my regular forum account picture. I've removed it.

Thank you for what you do. Representation, no matter how small, can save minds, and lives.

Liberty's Edge

Good to know!

(Please keep up with the party on the map guys or I'll be forced to RP Mingmei scolding you)

Liberty's Edge

Is there a check to understand the glowing rune circles that's meaningful here or should we just keep poking around?

Liberty's Edge

Mingmei looks over from across the room noticing Ghirka's jerking movement to protect her throat. "Are you alright? she asks, suspecting a spell might be needed out of habit.

Liberty's Edge

Yep Alarian is ready for action!!

Liberty's Edge

Does anyone have a 4th or 5th rank dispel magic ready to go? If not Mingmei will take a dispel and hang on to Ghirka's healing scroll if that's alright with everyone

Liberty's Edge

For Mingmei I generally grab a scroll of Heal or Dispel

Liberty's Edge

I also have 3 glyphs

oh, found a big change: psychic archetype loses the amp, you get the amp at lvl 6.

that kills the psychic dip (and the reason i bought the book for pfs...)

How did they change the dedication to balance that out? Is it just an extra cantrip of choice or something else?

Liberty's Edge

So I'm looking into playing a runelord wizard soon and also curious to be ready as a regular GM for if/when others play them and I'm curious what others think about some of the vaguer sin anathema, Gluttony/Necromancy in particular:

Anathema: Use your magic to protect others or manipulate minds.

So "using magic to protect others" feels like the more straightforward of these to parse out mechanically, because this allows for Shield (a "selfish" spell) but not anything that would improve the AC, Saves, or Resistances of teammates. So far so good.

But not using magic to "manipulate minds" is a bit trickier. I think it's obvious the author didn't mean "manipulate + mental traits" per se because that's an entirely different definition of manipulate, but that leaves an interpretation issue for me. Here are the possibilities I can think of and I'd love feedback on this:

Option 1: Avoid the mental trait spells entirely. This is the simplest but also most restrictive interpretation.

Option 2: Avoid specifically spells that are both "mental" and manipulate behavior (command, suggestion, et c.) but not other mental spells (mindlink, infectious enthusiasm). But this begs the question of which side of the divide simpler debuffs that don't explicitly 'manipulate' enemy behavior in the vernacular sense go (daze, fear, befuddle), which leads potential division between 2a (daze is anathema) vs 2b (daze is fine)

Thoughts?

The Beginner Box product page has a link to the PFS sanctioning document for it.

Said Link.

Do note that you don't bring PFS character to it. You play the BB pregens or make characters for it and then apply credit to 1st level PFS characters.

This is exactly what I needed, thanks!

So I got the beginner box for free at a convention and am going to run it for some friends who've never played but are interested in PF2e and PFS; Can the beginner box be run as a PFS module? If so, where do I find the chronicles, and are there any other things to keep in mind about keeping it Organized Play-kosher?
