I would love to play in a Kingmaker game. I am currently running the scenario and have great fun with it.
I am a complete NOOB when it comes to play by post but I have exstensive table top experience. What programs do you need to load up to do PBP most effectively?

Stealth Synergy from Ultimate Combat allows all players with this teamwork feat to roll a d20,take the highest roll and then add all your modifiers to stealth. In my current campaign I have a group of 6 players that all took Stealth Synergy and on an average get a combined stealth roll in the the DC 40 to 50 Range.
Has anyone come across any errata concerning this feat,I think it is possibly the most powerful feat in any book. through clever application my players hae used it in several scenarios to simply sneak through enemy lines a coup de grace the enemy commanders, as no NPC can beat thier stealth DC with a perception check.

For some great Ideas along these lines Look to the classic adventure "Against the Slave Lords". 1st edition D&d, one of the original Super modules.

You start out basically as you have described, as prisoners, naked with no possessions and must use your wits and inginuity to escape and Survive.

Play it as set..when I first stated gaming an age ago there were no CR's. You would be going through an adventure, sac the room full of goblins then tun into..GASP..a blue Dragon.

Not all fights are fair, not all fights are winable. Sometimes you run into things that will steamroll you.In these instances you get creative or retreat.

I say play the encounter out, it will be tough, but if they conquer it the players will feel like they accomplished something grand. If things go badly then they will retreat or die, and yes some characters may fall in battle but tha is the point isn't it. Without danger, without knowing that each battle may be your last, what is the point?

Jeesh People if you want to talk "realism". Most bow combat IRL took place from cover of woods or some other concealing factor ...or was volley fire...literally hundreds/sometimes thousands. of arrows in the air at once.

The idea of a lone bowman going toe to toe with armored foes is pure fantasy. Most bowmen were behind the army proper where they could volley till the enemy and their side closed then the withdrew further back...or continued to fire if the commander was a ruthless SOB.

IRL when the armored foes broke through te ranks the bowmen either ran or died,

I do not know if Boggans are fey or not but long ago in I think it was 3.5 a group I was in ran across a boggan assassin and it was a real SOB to beat and gave us quite a run for our money.
