Male Human Ranger 2

Initiative: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7

Male Human Ranger 2

"Thimble, shut the door!"

Male Human Ranger 2

"Uh oh, I don't hear the snoring."

Male Human Ranger 2

"Yes, probably only if she walks in though. And we still have to open the door wide enough."

Male Human Ranger 2

"I don't know. Just kind of loud breathing. Take a listen." He steps away from the door.

Male Human Ranger 2

Vartan goes up to the first door and listens.

Perception: 1d20+9=23

"I think I hear something snoring in there."

Male Human Ranger 2

"What now?"

Male Human Ranger 2

"Left it is then. Come on Thimble, let us go."

Thimble wakes up and thanks Vartan for keeping watch and healing him.

"You're welcome Thimble. Now shall we go right or left down the corridor outside the doors?

Male Human Ranger 2

"I would prefer to press on, but you both are Injured I understand if you wish to rest. I will keep guard at the door."

Male Human Ranger 2
Thimble wrote:
"Should we stay here for the night?" he asks looking at Vartan and Asther.

"That is a good question Thimble. I believe we can make this room safe. However, time is of the essence; we need to find those mushrooms and get them back to Falcon's Hollow before more townsfolk die of the Taint. But we could certainly rest for a few hours here. What do you say Asther?"

Male Human Ranger 2

"Don't you have that potion you found on the body in the courtyard?"

Thimble turns to Asther and Vartan, "It'll probably sell good." Thimble looks at the writing," Can either of you read dwarven?"

Vartan laughs. "That anvil? It might, if we could move it. It probably weighs more than Bess. I was looking for mushrooms, but I do not see any in here."

Male Human Ranger 2

Vartan starts to search the rest the room.

Perception check (1d20+9=11)

Male Human Ranger 2

"Foul beast! Die!" Vartan hisses and swings his longsword at the creature.

longword attack (1d20+7=24)
slashing damage (1d8+5=13)

His sword slices deeply into the creature and it falls to the ground.

"Vile creatures."

Male Human Ranger 2

"This room looks unoccupied - let us go in and search it, there might be more mushrooms to be found. Asther, you can lead Bess in, there is plenty of room for her in there."

Vartan walks into the room, sheathing his sword.

Male Human Ranger 2

Vartan follows Asther and Thimble into the room, leading Bess.

"We ought to look around a bit. There might be some mushrooms in here."

Male Human Ranger 2

You leave the room and go back into the hallway.

Vartan asks Thimble: "Thimble would you mind looking both ways down that hallway? You can see better than us in this light. Then you can look through those doors." pointing to the double doors about 10 feet west of you. "I'll be right behind you." He has his sword in his hand.

Asther wrote:
"Maybe we can talk to him and ask him why he did that?"

"You want to know why he killed my family? I need not ask him to know. He did it because he is an evil vicious creature, and he hates all of our kind."

You have never heard Vartan speak like this. His tone is always gentle and reassurring, but now his voice is filled with venom and hate.

"Just like I hate his."

Then his voice becomes sad.

"Can you please make your weapon glow again, Asther? We should not speak of such things in the dark"

Male Human Ranger 2
Thimble wrote:
"Where did you say that dog is again?"

"You mean the worg, Graypelt? I don't know where he is. I just heard rumors he was around this part of Darkmoon wood."

Vartan picks the mushroom. "Here is one. Now we need to find six more. Don't worry about Graypelt - let us find those mushrooms and leave this place as soon as we can."

Male Human Ranger 2

"Lets go on and open the other door. After you thimble."

Male Human Ranger 2

"I would like to hear what the fox has to say. Shall we move on, or do you want to rest here for a bit?"

Male Human Ranger 2

"My parents were worshippers of Abadar, the god of merchants. I personally do not worship a deity, but I certainly appreciate the Green Faith."

Male Human Ranger 2

"What do you think?" Vartan asks as he hands the thing he found to Asther. Its a little silver hammer with a symbol carved on its head.

"Are you well Thimble?" he asks seeing Thimble seems a little unsteady on his feet.

Male Human Ranger 2

Vartan reaches down and grabs the piece of parchment, then reaches at the body's belt and pulls out something on a chain. He looks at the parchment and says "I think it is written in Dwarven, which I do not read. Do either of you?"

He then begins to examine the thing he found on the chain.

Neither of you can read Dwarven.

Male Human Ranger 2

"Let me listen at both doors first." Vartan says.

First he listens at the north door. "Nothing". Then he walks around Bess, who is crowding the passageway (it is a tight fit for three of you and a horse), and listens at the south door. "I don't hear anything in here either. Go ahead and open the north door Thimble. We will be right behind you."

Vartan hands the torch to Asther and puts an arrow in his bow.

Male Human Ranger 2

"Thimble, why don't you hold on to the potion for now; you are probably the most likely one of us to need it, and I already have one left. The rest of this stuff I will put in Bess' saddlebags until we get back to Falcon's Hollow. Do either of you object?"

Male Human Ranger 2

"What's in the case and the purse?"

Male Human Ranger 2
Thimble Monarch wrote:
Thimble looks at Vartan, "If you need help killing the dog I'll help"

"OK, Thimble. Why don't you go out and check that body? I'll cover you with my bow from here. Asther, you keep an eye out behind us in case something tries to sneak up."

Male Human Ranger 2
Asther wrote:
"Sorry to interrupt you Vartan, but what did you mean by 'Two small' when you looked at the wolf tracks?"

"I guess we have a couple of minutes. I will tell you a story, but I will try to make it brief. When I was young, I used to work with my parents, who were traveling merchants. We would take our carts up and down the roads of Andoran buying and selling all kinds of goods. I would travel with them. At that point I was just learning how to be a swordsman, and how to live off the land."

"Sometimes we would come up to Darkmoon Vale, even all the way to Faclon's Hollow. One day, not too far from Falcon's Hollow, out caravan was ambushed by a pack of wolves led by a fierce worg. They killed everybody in the caravan, but I was able to get away."

"Now I am looking for revenge. I have reason to believe that the worg who killed my family is around here somewhere. When I said 'too small', I meant that the tracks were too small to have been made by a worg, which is larger than a wolf."

Male Human Ranger 2

Vartan addresses Thimble and Asther:

"We need to decide how to proceed. There are these two doors here" indicating the closed doors on the north and south walls of the room you are in. "I think we should see what is behind them so nothing can sneak up on us. Then there is that body out by the well in the courtyard. Maybe we should check that out before we do anything else. Do either of you have any ideas?"

Male Human Ranger 2
Thimble Monarch wrote:
Thimble looks at the Kobold tracks,"How many do you think there are?"

"I think all the kobold tracks are made by the same one. Hard to tell for sure though. But there is definitely more than one wolf."

Male Human Ranger 2

Vartan lights a torch, then looks carefully at the floor of the room.

"There are tracks here," he says. "two kinds. See these" hey says pointing to some tracks "They look like they were made by a humanoid with reptilian feet, maybe a kobold. These other tracks, though, I think were made by wolves."

He follows the tracks for a few feet. "Most of them seem to down the north passage, but the kobold tracks sometimes go down the south corridor."

He then comforts Bess or a minute, who seems to be doing much better now that she is out of the storm. "Let us rest for a moment and discuss what we are going to do now. We need to find those mushrooms, but it appears that we may have to fight for them."

Vartan looks closely at the wolf tracks again. "Too small..." he mutters to himself.

Male Human Ranger 2

Vartan quickly comes over and grabs the reins from Asther.

Handle Animal: 11 + 4 = 15

Again he calms the frightened animal down, but Bess is still extremely nervous.

"We must get her out of this storm. I think we should go in those big doors over there", pointing to the doors to the left. "We can search the courtyard later."

Male Human Ranger 2

Vartan peers through the rain. "It looks like it might be a body." he says.

Male Human Ranger 2
Asther wrote:
"We better hurry"said Asther "How much longer do we have?"

"How much longer until when? But we do need to hurry and get out of this storm. Asther, would you please lead Bess behind Thimble and I, as we go through the door?"

Male Human Ranger 2

"Good girl. Easy now."

Handle Animal: 13+4=17

Vartan calms Bess down.

Male Human Ranger 2

"I think there are no dwarves here." Vartan says. "They abandoned this place many years ago. But other, worse things might be living here. Shall we enter? We need to find shelter from this storm, not to mention the mushrooms."

Just then there is a bright flash, and almost immediately afterwards, a loud boom of thunder. The rain continues to pour down, even harder now.

Male Human Ranger 2

"We need to get down to the monastery. Let's get moving. The good news is, I do not think anybody in there will be able to see us coming."

Male Human Ranger 2

"We can't go back to town, it is two days away. We could stay here, but it might be wet"

Lightning crackles in the distance and thunder booms.

"...and that may not be safe either. The safest place to shelter from the storm is probably in the monastery down yonder."

Male Human Ranger 2

Vartan provided Asther with long-term care during the night.

Heal check (1d20+4=12)

Male Human Ranger 2

"I will take the first watch, Thimble. You look weary."

Male Human Ranger 2

"I don't think we should have a fire tonight. I don't want to attract attention from whatever may be living in those ruins."

Male Human Ranger 2

"It is getting late. Although we could try to enter the ruins now, since Asther is still wounded I suggest we camp for the night back aways inside the trees and go in the morining. What do you think?"

Male Human Ranger 2

"We need to get moving anyway. I have the rat's tails we need, now we just need to find the ironbloom mushrooms. Let's go find that ruined dwarven monastery. Droskar's Crucible."

Male Human Ranger 2

"I don't have any use for it. You are welcome to keep it if Thimble doesn't object"

Male Human Ranger 2

Vartan sees the head Asther is holding. "What did you find?" he asks.

Male Human Ranger 2

"What is that?" Vartan says when Asther holds up the shrunken head.

Male Human Ranger 2

"Wow, that was crazy. Now we should thoroughly search this place, there may be something interesting besides the rats tails."

Male Human Ranger 2

Vartan moves to the right to put himself opposite the cauldron from Thimble and swings his longsword at it.

Longsword attack 1d20+8: 19 + 8 = 27, Damage: 1d8+2: 6+2 = 8

He hits and a chunk flies off it.
