Varlis staggers forwards as the narcosis begins to wear off. He moves quickly between the naves hoping to gain ground away from this foul trap and trusting to luck in this evil place.
Varlis starts forwards slowly enjoying the clouds of magical needles in all their beauty. "Its good......never seen this before.....doesn't hurt.....just a nip here and there........ooooooooh."
As the needles bite, Varlis feels a pinprick but is busy enjoying the patterns they make. "Its a trap," he adds with a sloppy grin.
Sounds like you have our share too. We've had a couple of hailstorms and the odd flurry. But that's part of living on an island here. Good luck this weekend with a decent thaw, TT.
Temporarily? How come. we have beautiful sunshine and a forecast of another storm to the island. Weather is a bit surreal here at the moment. Cheers
Varlis pulls open the door and mentally prepares for the next assault on his senses.
Varlis enters the room with the other two in tow, his bow stowed and a flask in hand. He takes the matter literally and waits for a swarm to attack. The man checks his pockets for any other useful gear against them but finds little. "Remember to treat this as your home and feel like you own your environment. Get to know it quickly. These are what my teacher taught me and you will survive."
As he moves on, he is carefully looking for that ambush that he promised Philippe. His movements are now enhanced by the magic coursing through his veins.
Varlis remains silent and leads off down the hallway, his bow at the ready. Magic!
"Now is when an attack should happen. This may be a good time for any short protective magics." Varlis keeps his footing as he dances against the swing then stops just in time before tumbling. He takes out a potion of cats grace and swigs it down in a single gulp.
Varlis' eyes narrow at the obvious trap, but he concentrates on finding a target. "Ware your eyes from that god rotten symbol!"
Up on the balls of his feet and a smooth pull back of the bowstring.
Varlis stands twenty feet from the doorway and lines his bow up with a nod at Philippe.
"Might be a trick? Where is the magic in here? I'll look for secret doors while you spellcasters do the important work." Varlis begins to tap around leaving the obvious for now.
The man responds by lifting his bow. That is his own symbol.
The big man rubs his face hard to relieve the constant stress a little but does not stop Nicola or say anything to the contrary. He unlimbers his bow and waits for the worst to happen on the balls of his feet. "Lord Arkona owes us for this. Two dead and a fecking lever as well."
"Leave the lever and lets carry on," adds Varlis all business and work.
If Phillipe survives then Varlis steps in over the gap.
"If we step forwards quickly, then maybe the lever is the key to this gap. If you with the magic to get past goes last then no one can easily split our force of Three." Varlis prepares to go on, but gives them time to come up with a better solution.

Varlis did search the corpse but I'm not sure that he got a rundown of what the vulture had, including the sword. If its not from the sword then he will ask the priest to take a look at the cold wounds. Phillipe's detect magic may nudge us about the blade since I doubt we would have left it behind. "Maybe a shutter or cutter will come down between us."
Varlis scans the room for signs of danger and then returns downwards to examine that gap. "Could be a trap? But I am no expert. Can you tell if there is magic hereabouts or anything else for me to be concerned of?"

In case of ambush. Varlis swops back to his greatsword and slides the bow over one shoulder, "how long will my bow work against these shapeshifters, that spell is the real difference. Most of my arrows wouldn't even hurt it without Cayden's blessing. You don't have another inside you do you? For the big girl." He steps onwards carefully.
Varlis grips the girl as he feels the rushing sensation knitting his shoulder and muscle back back to rude health.
"It is dangerous out front, Philippe, can you fight?" rumbles the bearlike Varlis. "But stopping his escape was a good idea. Just he hit hard."
Varlis frowns and freezes in the act of pointing down the tunnel, "just th-" He quickly pats down the dead warrior while Phillipe approaches.
Great idea Treppa. If TT is up for it then I'd bite their hands off. The more the merrier.
Varlis continues with the assault, stepping back five feet again to allow room for the attacks. Now it is the face, aiming for that hooked nose and eyes.
Varlis steps back a pace and quickly draws three arrows aiming just above the gorget, he shoots with surprising rapidity. A blur.
The first skims his throat but the second one does much better and digs in hard. The last just misses by a country mile, skittering down the tunnel.
"No, no no! get back behind me and I'll shoot it down!"
Varlis slowly raises his bow as he says, "give me room behind to backpedal."
"Choose wisely, no one here deserves my respect," the bow is now trained on the man. "I will not risk lies from you so accept this."
"..or not," adds Varlis raising his bow on the arrogant man.
The hunter tries to decidd between sword and bow. Quickly he chooses to stick with the aligned bow and trust his instinct that this another trick and the true enemy is one of those 'shasas.
Varlis changes back to his bow and slips forwards with all the grace of a rakshasa. Ten foot from the shadows, Varlis stops, an arrow notched to his bow. "Nuudhala told us we would see you here. I am Varlis sent by Lord Arkona to see you."
The warrior soaks up the healing like a sponge and grips Nicola on the shoulder for the support as much as the health. The large warrior keeps ahead of the pair once Phillipe has been salved.
"I could do with some healing. That bolt of fire burnt my arm bad." Once that is resolved, Varlis starts off slowly then realsies that the rockfall put paid to all that. He swops to his sword and continues on down the tunnel. "I have a bad feeling about this place. But lets do our best to stay alive, yes?"
"Right." Varlis presses the greatsword blade down until it cuts through the neck like a guillotine. The head rolls awkwardly away and stops on its jaw. Varlis closes his eyes and wipes the pain from his face. Losing Emerion and Heather is a shock and means they are underground without the pair's skills and brains to rely on. He finishes his search and stands to brush dust from his trews.
Varlis quickly steps up to the body and pats it down searching for anything useful before they carry on, "They are dead back there...aren't they? No chance under those rocks?" His voice catches halfway through.
Varlis half turns to allow the bow a full aim and then lets fly at the beastie, throat and thigh arteries his targets.
That occupies him fully and he steps up to let the sword take over after.
Varlis is still staring dumbfounded at his poor shots as the energy and prayers of his friends enter the body filling him with strength and power. He suddenly screams at the agonising flames that reach into his throat and every pore and hole burning him into silence. "Ye Go-!" But the ranger tries to keep his attacks up. Concentrate! Concentrate!
