| Valentin Vitteri |
I'd like to throw my hat in the ring. I'm submitting a Half-elf Swashbuckler 1/Investigator 6. His crunch is mostly done, I need to figure out a few things with equipment and I might switch my 1 point of strength into CHA, but otherwise I am all set. So far as integration with the rest of the team goes, I've got a few ideas but I'd like to understand where the rest of the party is first.
This should help with imagining how my character looks.
Valentin is the orphaned son of travelers; he knows that much of his past. Found hidden away in a wagon of an abandoned Varisian wagon. The caravan itself was a scene of bloody mayhem, but no one was left to tell the tale of its other inhabitants or their fates. The blood soaked ground, however, told its own tales. The travelling band of Pharasman priests brought the squalling young Vitteri with them and so it was that he would be raised in the Church. He has only his name as a legacy of his past, engraved on a locket found wrapped up in the bundle with him.
Valentin was raised in a Pharasman orphanage in Caliphas. He was a problematic child, lashing out in anger for the unfair hand that fate had dealt him. Despite his best efforts to flee the church, he was brought back time and time again and given education worthy of a ward of the Church. Smart, but lacking patience, he would eventually come to learn of the Lady of Graves. He learned of her role as the Mistress of Fate as inheritor of Aroden's prophetic domains and as the Lady of Graves; the final Arbiter. More importantly, he learned of the role the undead had in his parent's death and Pharasma's hatred of their abomination. This would prove the spark that lit a fire in young Valentin's heart. His burning passion became to serve Pharasma so that no one else would suffer the tragedy that he did.
Proving a quick study, he absorbed knowledge like a sponge. His teachers saw in him the spirit of priest, but in his own mind Valentin knew he would not be well suited to that life. With time, frustration, and no shortage of sheer stubbornness, he had his way and he was sent to study at the University of Lepidstadt. He would be no priest, but he could serve Pharasma in his own way. At the university he studied fencing, history, literature, and alchemy. From the finest investigative and logical minds in Golarion, he learned how to reason and to hone his mind into a weapon of its own. He also learned of the undead, and how to defeat them.
So armed, he would go on to serve a promising career as a Voice of the Spire: the undead hunters of the Church of Pharasma. His first superior, Kjell Njallson, taught him well. Through trial and tribulation, the two would grow close and the battle scarred Skald Voice would be the father he never otherwise knew. He still carries the annotated copy of The Bones Land in a Spiral (a holy text of Pharasma) which was a gift from Kjell when he became a Speaker.
Valentin Vitteri is a whipcord thin half-elf, standing six foot eleven inches tall. He has the violet eyes of a Varisian, but retains a paleness that betrays his elven heritage. His hair is a silvery platinum that he keeps cut short, and often under a hat or helm to avoid betraying his presence while he does his gristly work. He wears the typical black and red uniform of a Voice, and carries a silver spiral comet holy symbol that he over his armor.
