The Gory Details: The party came across the possessed dire ape within the Screaming Jungle, initially all but Miroto failing their saves against his Fear spell. Itombu chased down the druid who had stayed with Abarat to protect him, stalking them through the jungle. With the group scattered, the ape shaman had to power himself up to take on the dire ape on his own - an easy enough feat, though none in the party had Knowledge The Planes to realize what the demon they faced was.

Itombu emerged from his host by the time the rest of the team regrouped, and began his attempt to summon shadow crocodiles. Interrupted by a timely magic missile spell from the sorcerer, he instead took to flinging shadow evoked Fireball spells and using its claws to decimate the party's ranks. The party eventually fled after attempting to use the fetish to banish the demon (it failed), but it snagged the body of Ihys with Magic Jar.

The party regrouped with their caravan, but despite warnings did not buy any magical cold iron or good weapons to combat the demon, instead opting for resistances to cold and fire. They returned to find Ihys covered in blood, for the poor soul had stalked the jungle murdering anyone he could find. Knocking out the ranger, Itombu emerged once more and began utilizing his illusionary fireballs once more. Seeing that his spells were resisted, he opted for a different route - a Shadow Evocation Lightning Bolt, which outright killed Ihys (who had been revived and had run by that point).

With the remaining three tearing into the demon with their spells as best they could, Itombu summoned a second shadow demon and tore them all apart. They managed to knock Itombu down to 2 hit points before he succeeded, and now he walks the jungle wearing the flesh of a vanara...

I had a question concerning the lycanthrope Kundal in this adventure. He wakes up from his rampages in the forest, covered in blood. However, it mentions that he has Saki's severed ear with the golden earring attached under his bed.

One of my players brought up a very interesting question - why does he have this ear in his room at all? If he valued the earring, why not separate it and take it? Even if done as an evil act it still doesn't seem very sensible.

Thanks for any solution to this situation, I might be just not thinking it through properly but it was bugging me.

Yes, you're correct! Everything is in order then, and again, my huge thanks for the excellent resource.

Thank you for the quick response!

Another question presented itself while I was in the midst of checking over the sheet: One of the players in my campaign is a Viceroy, and I've noticed that the Viceroy/Heir/Consort are adding their full applicable modifiers to their roles rather than half like UCam mentions. Wasn't sure if that was being addressed in a later update or if I should just be putting half the applicable stat in the Rulers tab.

I have version 5.3d if that helps, wasn't sure if that was the latest.

Many thanks for the excellent resource! Me and my players just started the Kingdom-building rules and we feel like we'd be lost without it.

Wanted to ask for clarification purposes, as I've sadly not read Ultimate Rulership: Is the population equal to 250 x number of lots, or 250 x hexes x lots? Ultimate Campaign mentioned the former but I think the latter would make much more sense.

Sorry if it's been asked before or anything, just didn't find a definitive answer from a quick skim of things.

Hey everyone. I've just finished the first chapter of Kingmaker with a group of four players recently. Party consists of a human paladin of Abadar, human cleric of Shelyn, human pyromancer (third-party class), and a kobold slayer from the Advanced Class Guide playtest.

I've let them all use 25-point buy since they've been eager to play as relatively high-powered characters, but the encounters have been seeming a bit on the easy side. The owlbear at the Stag Lord's fort nearly killed the paladin but there hasn't been a ton of close calls. Said player has mentioned it'd be cool if the fights ramped up in difficulty. Naturally, I am sure that the books become more difficult as time goes on, but I want to make sure they don't have too much of an easy time.

I had thought of using the Advanced template on creatures to amp them up in response, but was wondering what your take on that would be? +4 to each stat seems to blow 25 point-buy out of the water and may make things a bit too difficult, but in comparison making every enemy 25-PB on the fly could take awhile. Maybe just boosting one ability score by 4 would suffice?

Thanks to anyone for their help in advance.
