You hear the battle.

Alperion comes running into the courtyard."There is a battle inside and our companions need help."

MAP UPDATED with NPC movements. I also moved Un'gra.


Alperion stares at Jeffrey with a blank look on his face then falls to the ground slamming his fists against the stone. "Why...even try...the Gods curse me at every turn. I shouldn't have left...I never shou..." Alperion just sits on the floor crying.


"I am going to help Milon and Mr. Gudlinck get Serila ready for traveling. It's a long way back to town and we are going to need a stretcher of some kind. Keanan promise me you will find those mushrooms my mother's life depends on them."

Alperion walks out of the room without a word upon reaching the courtyard he speaks to Jeffrey."Mr. Gudlinck wants you."

Alperion waits until Mr. Gudlinck is settled down a little, swallows the lump in his throat and walks over to him. "Sir let me help you with her."

Alperion still sitting on the pew. "We where surprised by these creatures... Pointing to the two bodies on the ground near the south door. "Serila and Keanan where both attacked....before any of the rest of us...could act the beast wrapped around her head and...

Breaking down he can not continue and sits there crying and mumbling to himself. ...I should...never..let her come...It should have...been me


"Just inside...I'll show you. Alperion stands up heavy with grief and walks into the altar room. He yells at the south door, then sits in one of the darkwood pews. "August bring Serila in here....her father wants to see her."

Alperion is shocked to see Mr. Gudlinck. "ahmm....Serila.." Tears come to his eyes and his body slumps to the ground. "... Your ... daughter is ... dead."


Seeing a wolf on top of Milon, Alperion draws his sword while charging out to help."Get of him you furry mutt!! With a near perfect strike Alperion drives his sword through the beast killing it instantly.

Rolls:

Attack: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 21
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Critial Confirm Attack: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6

Alperion puts his torch out then moves through the hallway to the double doors to the courtyard to get a view of the battle.

Stealth: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20
Perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (9) + 11 = 20

Alperion moves to library door."August stay here and guard Serila we are going to check out what is happening in the courtyard." he quickly moves next to Nebdel near the door.

Alperion searches over the altar but finds no secret compartments or anything else of interest. "I believe that we have found everythin...what was that noise? Sounds like something is in courtyard."

Perception:
1d20 + 11 ⇒ (6) + 11 = 17


Alperion inspects the altar closer, especially the 5 small depressions. Taking out one of his tools he grabs a sliver of something from one of the depressions and holds it up to get a better look. "I don't think mushroom grew in the holes Keanan, this is a sliver of a red gem of some kind. By the look of the scratches near the depressions I think all of them where fills with this type of gem and where pried out by looters."


Alperion wipes the tears from his eyes and stands up."Let's get the mushrooms and get back to town with Serila's body. Her parent will want to see their daughter and bury her."

Alperion lights his torch off of Nebdel's and moves into the altar room searching for mushrooms.

Perception:
1d20 + 11 ⇒ (16) + 11 = 27

Alperion turns when he hears Serila's scream but before he can react Serila's body falls to the floor and the others kill the attacker and pull it off her. "No... no, no, not her." Rushing to Serial's body he tries to drag her into the library.


Not sure what door you guys want me at so move Alperion where you want. Here is his Aid for the door.

Door:

Alperion hands the lighted torch to Nebdel. "I like to be on the edge of the shadows not in the middle of the light."


Alperion pulls two torches out of his pack and hands one to Nebdel and then lights one himself.. "This is all I got so make them last."

Alperion scans the room again with the lighted torch. "All I see is this fungus but no mushrooms."


Alperion moves carefully up to the northern door placing his ear up against it. Shrugging his shoulders and shaking his head he stands back up. "Dead silence and the door is unlocked but swollen stuck. Does anyone see the mushrooms we need in here?" Alperion begins to search the room."Keanan what do they look like again.?"

Perception for door: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (2) + 11 = 13

"Woah!!" Alperion reacts quickly, dropping his bow and drawing his sword he wades his through the pool to try to feel the lion from the snakes grasp.

Alperion moves alone the pond with his bow out ready to cover the group's move into the library.

Turning to Serila "I tried to identify it but my knowledge of plant life is very limited. I just want to get the mushrooms and get out of here we can come back and search the place more later."


Alperion shakes his head in approval."Knowing the entrances and exits of the building are a good plan just in case we need to get out in a hurry. Also we can chose how we want to enter and maybe surprise anything that might be in there. I'll start by going east then around the back and end up back here to decide where we want to enter"

Alperion gets into the shadows of the wall and waves everyone else away to the treeline.

Alperion is standing outside scanning the area to get his bearing for the next trek through the forest as he waits for everyone.

Survival:

When the group is outside together

"According to the map Milon gave us the Dwarven ruins are NW of here about 3 more hours. We should reach them with an hour or two to search them before nightfall."


"Whatever, let's get out of this rat hole." Alperion is already out the door.


Alperion stikes the cauldron chipping off another piece and attacking again as the cauldron move to attack Serila but misses.

Rolls:

Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
AoO: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11

Damage taken by Cauldron = 27


Swinging his blade again at the abomination Alperion's blow sends a ringing through the hut and clips off a small piece of the creature. "My sword is not doing much to this thing, it's skin is as hard as cast iron."

Rolls:

Attack: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

Damage taken by Cauldron = 12

Alperion draws his sword and stabs at the cauldron but glaces off leaving only a small scratch.

Attack: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5


Seeing that Serila is having trouble with the door Alperion step in front of her and tries. "Let me get that for you Serila." Giving her a smile.

Strength Check: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 = 11

The door comes unstuck and falls to the ground outside the hut with a thud that echos through the glade.


"Stay back Serila I'll try to peek in to see if the witch is home." Alperion sneaks to a side window and peers in. After a minute he walks back toward Serila and waves the group forward."There is no one inside that I could see but the window is partially blocked. But from the looks of things no one has lived here for awhile."


Alperion steps up next to Serila stowing his bow."We should wait for the others, we do not know what this witch is capable of.'

She is so use to getting what she wants she has no regard for her safety....rich people...
Seeing Serila step forward Alperion quickly follows suit standing next to her. He whispers to her.
"Are you crazy this witch is not to be messed with."
Drawing his bow he scans the area.

"Well we can figure all this out later. Let's get a move on." Alperion leads the group back to the trail heading in a western direction.


"I have no experience a valuing items but I'll take a look at them. Alperion pulls out two gems out of his pockets and looks over the Armor.

Rolls:

Appraise Armor: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 1 = 20
Appraise Gems: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6

Armor and Gems Description:
The armor is a very nice harden, studded set of leather. I do not even know what type of gems they are. One is a dark red oval gem the other is a black shiny flat gem.

"August this is a better quality set of leather for you then what you have on even thou it was just worn by a corpse. If you do not want it I'll wear it, I'am use to second hand stuff from corpse living in the slums."

Alperion walks over to Keanan and shows him the gems.

that tree kicked my but...but missing a battle...that is not like me to not wake to a threat...what is going on... this forest is...just off in some way...settle down...get your bearings...your mother is relying on you.

"Yeah, sorry about that so what attacked us?" Wading through the brush to the location the group left the undead bodies. After a few minutes Alperion comes back out of the forest. "The one that is not ripped to pieces has a nice set of leathers on and the other one had some gems and this" Holding up a scroll.

"Your right August, the Witch's Hut should be that way about 2 hour walk." Tossing the scroll to Nebdel and moving in the direction of August.


Alperion rolls out of his blanket with sleepy eyes."What time is... Seeing everyone else up and almost ready. "Oh..why did you not wake me!! We are wasting valuable time...must go...mother is sick." He continues to mumble to himself as he hastily gathers his things then jumps up and starts marching in the wrong direction.
